Dawes has already begun their touring in support of their highly anticipated second album, Nothing Is Wrong. Due out on June 7, 2011, Nothing Is Wrong is the follow-up to the band’s 2009 debut, North Hills (featuring their breakout anthem, “When My Time Comes”), an extraordinary record that was released quietly and soon became regarded among critics and fans across the country as a classic and must-own favorite. A collection of songs that expertly builds upon the template laid by North Hills, Nothing Is Wrong sees Dawes displaying strong growth and evolution while still manifesting their distinctive, unforgettable voice. The band is confirmed to perform the first single from the new album, “Time Spent in Los Angeles,” on The Late Show with David Letterman in late June.

ATO Records and Dawes will be launching a unique pre-order campaign that will allow fans to purchase the record in advance of release date and receive an immediate digital download of an exclusive three-song promotional EP, entitled Suitcase, featuring “Time Spent In Los Angeles,” and two B-sides from the album sessions, “All My Failures” and “Strangers Getting Stranger.”

School's out w/Flaming Lips' Drozd, The Turtles, Black Angels

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) has a full calendar for the rockin' month of May. It all kicks off days before with its next master class featuring Mark Volman - AKA Flo - of 1960s band the Turtles on April 29. The Los Angeles native found fame with his band's 1967 hit single "Happy Together," and will engage students with an in-depth discussion of his career and performance. On April 30, The Turtles featuring Flo and & Eddie will perform at an ACM@UCO fundraiser.

On May 4, ACM@UCO will hold its inaugural graduation ceremonies, bidding farewell to its first class of students, including those who have landed high-profile jobs in the music industry. Flaming Lips multi-instrumentalist and former master class speaker Steven Drozd is confirmed as the special guest speaker for the event.

In addition, on May 5, 60 ACM@UCO-affiliated bands will perform across 11 venues in Oklahoma City's historic district as part of ACM@UCO's Bricktown Takeover. On May 10, ACM@UCO will host a master class with guitar legend Robben Ford. On May 7, ACM@UCO's student-run Performance Lab will play host to a performance by Man Man, followed by The Black Angels on May 20.

Umphrey's McGee Announces 2011 Summer Plan

Umphrey’s McGee kicks-off their 2011 Summer Tour on May 27 with three nights at Summercamp in Chillicothe, IL, where the band will debut - debut Huey Lewis and the Rumors, a new collaboration featuring Umphrey's McGee, a full horn section, and of course, the legendary Huey Lewis. Additional festival engagements include Wakarusa, Mountain Jam, All Good and others. Also on the schedule, a triumphant return to Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 3 for Red Rocks And Blue II featuring support by the New Mastersounds and Easy Star Allstars, and an intimate show the Boulder Theater the following day. Visit www.umphreys.com for tickets and show details. The complete list of summer tour dates is included below.

On April 2, 2011, at Park West in Chicago, Umphrey’s McGee hosted the second annual UMBowl, a first of its kind interactive concert where fans call the plays over the course of four musical “quarters.” The event, which sold out in just minutes, further established the band as leaders in the fields of band/fan interaction and technology. Billboard Magazine confirms the band’s vision, saying: “Umphrey’s McGee has become an unlikely role model for a music industry still struggling with the conversion to digital distribution amid rampant piracy.” For more on this ground-breaking event check out the Mashable feature here: mashable.com.

Keller Williams Hosts Three-Show Benefit

One-man-band Keller Williams heads to the Fredericksburg Field House on Saturday, May 7 to headline the special family concert: Keller Williams Plays for Kids: A Benefit for the Cobblestone Children's Museum of Fredericksburg. During this unique event full of humor and surprises, parents and children will deepen their bond by playing music together and dancing to Keller’s infectious sing-along songs. Joining Keller will be local artist and drummer Ken Crampton of Everybody Drum and local painter/illustrator Bill Harris who collaborated with Keller last fall on Keller’s first children’s book Because I Said So (Fun Read Publishing, $20, for ages 2-8, 33 pages). Both Williams and Harris will be available following the show for a meet-and-greet and book signing.

This special family concert marks the first-ever fundraising event for the emerging Cobblestone Children's Museum. Cobblestone believes that the Fredericksburg area, with a combined population of more than 300,000, can support a children's museum and that the area’s children and families deserve the educational and enrichment opportunities that such a facility would provide. Cobblestone Children’s Museum of Fredericksburg’s mission is to inspire interactive learning and creativity in children and adults through moments of shared discovery. The museum’s vision is to provide a safe, challenging and stimulating environment where children can direct their own learning experiences. www.cobblestonechildrensmuseum.org.

That same weekend, Keller will also perform two shows for adults; both will benefit the Cobblestone Children’s Museum. On May 6, Keller performs aboard “The City of Fredericksburg Riverboat” for a lucky few people. Always a favorite for Keller fans, this boat trip finds Keller backed by Keith Moseley, Gibb Droll and Jeff Sipe (WMDS). Then, on the evening of May 7 at the Fredericksburg Field House, Keller will perform with Moseley, Droll & Sipe and will host a Late Night Dance Party featuring DJ Logic. Tickets and information on all three shows available at www.kellerwilliams.net.

Keller Williams released his first-ever kids album, appropriately titled Kids, last October, and this benefit show on May 7 marks the first time he’s bringing his live family show to his hometown. Kids has already been warmly embraced by kids and music tastemakers.
