As the wheel of the year begins the slow downward turn into winter, it's time to think of the long nights and frosty stars. Where will we be when the snow starts to fall? On our Fly Through the Night tour, flying above the city lights of the East Coast, strung together like clusters of diamonds on the black planet below. Finding comfort in some of our usual haunts in DC and Virginia as well as touching down in some new venues in New England, we'll sing a little while for you, and then fly on. If you're in our fan club, tickets are already available; the general public can get tickets starting on August 5th. Visit our tour page for details.

Sometimes we visit your country

Wondering where we'll be carried away in March of 2012? To that great city of blended cultures and sidewalk cafes, clean canals and bicycles, Van Gogh and anything goes, the Venice of the North. It's Amsterdam, and we're thrilled to be playing for All Good and Vision International's 6th Jam in the Dam. Come see the silent seeds all burst into bloom and decay. Wait - don't visit our tour page for this one - go straight to the Jam in the Dam site, and check it out!

My Morning Jacket Share Title Track from New Album Circuital

Nearly three years since their last release, My Morning Jacket are now on the cusp of releasing the eagerly awaited new album, Circuital (ATO Records, May 31st).  The band has been gearing it all up by releasing songs from each of their five Terminal 5 shows this past October.  Today, My Morning Jacket are giving us a taste of the new album by sharing the title track and revealing it's enigmatic cover art.

Click HERE to download the song "Circuital" from the band's website.  The site is also now offering pre-orders for the album, and a beautiful limited edition deluxe package that includes an exclusive 30 minute documentary dvd, high quality lithograph portrait taken by Danny Clinch and many other goodies.  Ten deluxe versions will come with a 'Golden Ticket" entitling the bearer to receive an original signed print by the band and Clinch.

Like the album as a whole, "Circuital" was laid down almost entirely live as the honest spirit and human spontaneity are felt throughout the listening experience.  The song Circuital, while a seven minute epic, is but a taste of what to expect – the collection of songs is truly eclectic and entrancing from beginning to end.

JETHRO TULL Celebrates AQUALUNG's 40th Anniversary w/ North American Tour

In celebration of the park bench, dribbly-nosed voyeur's 40th Anniversary, Ian Anderson returns to the USA with his band Jethro Tull, starting June 8 in Denver, CO and ending on the 27 in Chicago, IL.

The group features longtime members Ian Anderson (flute, vocals, acoustic guitar) and Martin Barre (guitars), Doane Perry (drums), as well as David Goodier (bass) and pianist John O'Hara.  The latter two joined in 2006 after working with Ian on some of his solo projects.

The group will be performing the Aqualung album in its entirety plus a range of their other favorites from the lat 42 years.  Critics dubbed AQUALUNG “a concept album,” particularly for Ian's critical, skeptical views of organized religion, mostly on side B ("My God," "Hymn 43"). Anderson has disputed - almost resented - the assessment seeing the record as "just a bunch of songs." This led the band to give the critics a full-blown concept album with the following studio release THICK AS A BRICK which topped the Billboard charts in 1972.

On AQUALUNG, the group explores the struggles of the less fortunate in our society (e.g., "Aqualung," "Cross-Eyed Mary," "Up to Me"). Teenage angst and formal education difficulties (e.g., "Wind Up") are explored, and Ian returns to his parental themes with "Cheap Day Return," a tune encompassing Anderson's feelings while traveling North on the train to visit his sick father. "Locomotive Breath" touches on the issues of globalization, population expansion and runaway economics. Sound familiar?

Formed in 1968, Jethro Tull released its first album THIS WAS late in that year and followed up in 1969 with STAND UP.  In the 1970s, the group was one of the most successful live performing acts on the world stage, rivaling Zeppelin, Elton John and even the Rolling Stones. Surprising, really, for a group whose more sophisticated and evolved stylistic extravagance was far from the Pop and Rock norm of that era.

With now some 30-odd albums to their credit and sales totaling more than 50 million, the apparently un-commercial Tull continues to perform over a 100 concerts per year with its rich variety and depth of expression, wherever fans, young and old, want to hear Rock, Folk, Jazz and Classical-inspired music. Music for boys in long trousers and girls with brains.

In 2011, Tull will tour in Australia, Ireland, and Germany.  And Ian will perform solo shows in Germany, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Czech Republic, the UK, Sweden, Denmark and Finland finishing with his customary charity Christmas concerts at three UK cathedrals.

In 2006, Ian was awarded a Doctorate in Literature from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement in Music and, in the New Years Honours List 2008, an MBE for services to music. In 2012, he expects to be awarded the Smithsonian Medal of Honor for smelling OK for someone his age and having ears still in proportion to the rest of his head. His bladder remains elastic and his prostate the size of a pinhead.

Gregory Alan Isakov Announces 2011 Winter Tour

Gregory Alan Isakov’s emotionally saturated, raw indie folk songs have been pulling in fans and critics alike since his tender 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones. In 2009 Isakov’s fourth album, This Empty Northern Hemisphere, propelled him to new heights, with The Denver Post proclaiming him, “a subtler Springsteen, a more melodically diverse Dylan” and Paste Magazine crowning him “The Next Big Thing,” boasting “[Isakov] makes quietly lush, deeply vibrant music more rooted in the starry night sky… than in any terrestrial locale.”

Success continues to pour in for Isakov with his song “If I Go, I’m Going” recently featured on the Showtime hit “Californication” (the song is also featured on the show’s Season 4 Soundtrack Album) and a limited vinyl pressing of This Empty Northern Hemisphere (available on his website). Building on the momentum, late Winter tour dates have just been announced. Touring this time with his band, Isakov will support DeVotchKa for their CD release and Valentine’s Day show at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium before embarking on a string of headlining dates on the East Coast (details below). Look for Isakov’s tour to head west in early spring.

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Gregory Alan Isakov has found a home in Colorado, where he’s lived for the past 12 years. Isakov has been compared to Iron & Wine, Leonard Cohen, and Jeff Tweedy. Isakov has performed throughout North America and Europe, sharing the stage with artists including Calexico, Mumford & Sons, The Indigo Girls, Brandi Carlile, and Laura Marling.

Check out Isakov’s new video for “Big Black Car” off This Empty Northern Hemisphere here.

Girl Talk Announces Gigantic 2011 Tour!

Almost 300 shows under his belt, and hardly a full week off, since Feed The Animals was released in June 2008 and Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) is primed to announce another 40-city tour, all set to take place in 2011 before March is even over! Whether it be performing at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, throwing the biggest house party New Year’s Eve (or anyone) has ever seen, setting off fireworks to end shows in Houston or San Francisco, or balloon drops in Chicago, New York and beyond, celebrating election night in Milwaukee, playing to colleges of all sizes, christening Pittsburgh’s new Stage AE venue, or stealing the show at festivals across the globe, Gillis has proved he works (and sweats) his ass off, and knows how to give people an exceptionally awesome time. Now, with this forthcoming tour on the horizon, he’s ready to multiply the fun with a whole new slew of ideas, and start 2011 off right!
