The album also includes a free download card for all 12 tracks on the new CD.

Pushing the sonic envelope from the dance floor to the bedroom, The Heavy Pets vinyl gleefully takes the listener on a journey that varies in both sonic and emotional texture. Overflowing with expert musicianship, unexpected musical turns, and masterful pacing of songs; the follow up release also boasts a cameo appearance with high-profile guest star, John Popper of Blues Traveler, courtesy of Verve Records.

Looking to produce the highest quality recording possible, The Heavy Pets teamed up with some of the industry's best production and engineering talents. The vinyl lacquers were cut by the legendary Doug Sax, founder of The Mastering Lab. The album was produced by Multi-Platinum award winning producer Scott Mathews and was mastered by two time Grammy Award winning mastering engineer Vlado Meller of Universal Mastering Studios. With each passing year the band continues to break ground by embracing cutting edge technology, while working towards preserving the buoyant sound of analog recording.

Since 2005, the band has built their reputation as a live tour-de-force through years of nationwide touring and three successful previous releases including their acclaimed freshman double-disc studio release, Whale. The band will kick off the first leg of their national fall tour on the east coast with select dates in the south before heading back to their home stomping grounds in Florida to finish off the decade. The new self titled album and vinyl from The Heavy Pets is now available through Amazon.com, iTunes, and the band's web site theheavypets.com.

Tea Leaf Green, Oct. 14 @ the Fox Theatre

San Francisco-based band Tea Leaf Green got their start in the relationship formed between guitarist Josh Clark and drummer Scott Rager, who played in a high-school band together in Arcadia, CA. After graduation, Rager enrolled at San Francisco State College, where he met bassist Ben Chambers. When Clark moved to San Francisco, the three began playing together as a trio. Their first paying gig was attended by Trevor Garrod, a singer/songwriter and keyboard player who had moved to San Francisco looking for other musicians to play with. Garrod met the three others, and soon they were playing together as a quartet. They built a following in Northern California and self-released the albums Tea Leaf Green, Midnight on the Reservoir (2001), Live at Slim's, San Francisco CA (2003), Living in Between (2004), and Live at the Independent (2004).

They issued their first national release, Taught to Be Proud, in 2005 and within a year they were opening for Gov't Mule, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews Band and a host of other lauded musicians. In 2007, longtime bass player Ben Chambers left the band and was replaced by Reed Mathis, formerly of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. Mathis's stylistic versatility on bass proved to be the perfect fit for the band. In 2008, Tea Leaf Green went on to re-release their first three studio albums as the triple-CD compilation entitled Seeds. Later that year the band followed up with their next studio album Raise Up the Tent.

In June 2010 Tea Leaf Green released Looking West, their first studio album in 2 years. The release is a compilation of road-tested, fan favorite songs that the band has never recorded in the studio. The album marks a new chapter for Tea Leaf Green and represents the artistic and individual growth of the band since their formation more than a decade ago.

In a few short years, these road warriors have built a strong following, consistently filling venues across the country and becoming a warmly received, go-to band on the festival circuit with stand-out performances at Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, 10K Lakes, and The Echo Project, among others. Sharing some of the style and substance of musical contemporaries My Morning Jacket, Wolfmother, and the Raconteurs, Tea Leaf Green conjures the spirit of bands like '70s Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and The Grateful Dead, taking classic sounds and giving them a present-day polish. Tea Leaf Green reminds us at every turn just how alluring rock 'n' roll can be.

Adam Green: Debut Art Exhibition 'Teen Tech' At New York's Morrison Hotel

Folk-rock troubadour Adam Green's debut art show, Teen Tech, will open at the Morrison Hotel Gallery Bowery (313 Bowery, former home to the famed CBGB's gallery) in his hometown of New York, NY, on April 22nd. Following a private opening night party, the exhibition will be available to the public April 23rd and 24th. Teen Tech showcases another artistic side of singer/songwriter Green, already known for his prolific (six albums in eight years) career as a solo musician and for his work as half of the band Moldy Peaches. Last year, he composed the soundtrack for a German theatrical adaptation of Paul Auster's novel Timbuktu, which he titled Musik For A Play. Fat Possum Records released Green's most recent solo album, Minor Love, in February.

The exhibition will consist of original works by Green: 12 sculptures of plaster, papier-mâché, or papier-mâché and mixed materials; 18 large-scale (30" x 40") acrylic or watercolor paintings; 19 drawings; and 20 collages (created together with model Cory Kennedy). The art will be for sale and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charitable organization Artists for Peace and Justice, which directs 100% of all funds raised towards rebuilding and maintaining long-term sustainability in Haiti. Friend and peer Binki Shapiro of Little Joy introduced Green to the organization when he donated a hand-designed t-shirt for her recent, highly successful Crafts For A Cause online auction that donated all proceeds to Artists for Peace and Justice. Green and Shapiro decided to work together again here in an effort to continue giving. Following the show's close, any remaining pieces will be available here.

Green says of the exhibition, "Teen Tech is an art show I've prepared over the last year and a half. Perhaps because I'm an entertainer in showbiz, I found myself trying to make this art show more entertaining than average. It focuses on cartoon subjects. I don't often read comics but I've always liked to draw cartoons. I contend that all artists work in caricature. The pieces in Teen Tech are caricatures of cartoons, which I feel distill the subjects down to their bare essence."

Teen Tech coincides with Green's two-night, hometown headlining stand at the Bowery Ballroom. These two gigs, April 23rd and 24th, will be the final of his current U.S. tour in support of Minor Love. The album has earned Green plenty of praise, with BlackBook writing, "...the real genius of Minor Love isn't the album's embrace of disparate genres (although that's impressive, too), it's how charming and easy Green makes all this variety sound" and Filter adding, "...Green revels in a stripped-down, bittersweet world where nothing lasts forever, with both his baritone and lyrics adding freshness to his fatalist outlook." Santa Barbara Celebrates Earth Day's 40th Anniversary with Earth Day Festival

On April 17-18, thousands of communities around the world will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. On the California Central Coast, the community of Santa Barbara, together with regional not-for-profit Community Environmental Council, lays claim to sparking the Earth Day movement forty years ago.

This year, 20,000 will gather for Santa Barbara’s Earth Day 40 Festival (www.SBEarthDay.org) on April 17-18. Under the apropos 2010 theme “Bringing It Home,” the celebration recognizes not only Earth Day’s 40th Birthday, but also the community’s own legacy of environmental stewardship.

For four decades, Santa Barbara has harnessed its mindful community members, innovative leaders, and abundant access to renewable energy resources to help lead the environmental movement. Today, with the ongoing support of the Community Environmental Council and its aggressive “Fossil Free by ’33” initiative, the community continues to serve as a model for how to move an entire region away from fossil fuels.

In 1969, the devastating images of a massive oil spill from an oil platform off Santa Barbara’s coast galvanized California into action and caught the attention of the rest of the nation, including Senator Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day. The resulting swell of outrage and concern gave rise to the first Earth Day in 1970, as well as to the creation of the Community Environmental Council – the largest and most established environmental organization in the region, and the host of Santa Barbara’s Earth Day 40 Festival.

Today, the Community Environmental Council (CEC) is leading a campaign to move Santa Barbara County away from fossil fuels in one generation – Fossil Free by ’33. This bold, regionally driven blueprint seeks to head off a nearly perfect storm of energy-related concerns, including rapidly diminishing oil supplies (“peak oil”), growing concern over our national security because of our dependence on foreign oil, volatile fuel prices, and climate change.

The Fossil Free campaign is particularly timely following the climate talks in Copenhagen last December, in which international leaders noted that more than half of the actions needed to address global warming will be led not by national or international policies, but through local initiatives and leadership.

“Copenhagen will likely be a central theme as communities around the world prepare for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day,” says CEC Assistant Director Sigrid Wright, noting that the collective international Earth Day events are expected to touch over a billion people. “We believe that climate change is the responsibility of every community to address and that Santa Barbara and California are out in front on this issue.”

In downtown Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Earth Day 40 Festival will offer real-world solutions, with participation by approximately 250 emerging green businesses, cutting edge technology vendors, and regional and national environmental organizations. Other features will include:

• a two-day amateur Green Shorts Film Festival,
• the largest known private
Green Car Show in the country, and
• a Green Home Pavilion – a re-enactment of a 1,200-square foot home, featuring the latest green construction materials, home décor products, and energy-saving appliances and technologies.

Earth Day brings us together to celebrate, recharge and focus our energies and resources on ending our dependence on fossil fuels,” says Wright.

“This is a pivotal time in history for the environmental movement because for the first time ever, being free of fossil fuels is actually within reach," says Wright. “The CEC and the community of Santa Barbara are committed to reaching this goal by 2033. The region has unique access to renewable energy resources – particularly the sun, wind and ocean. And, as history has shown, the size of the community – small enough change course with relative speed, yet large enough to matter when those changes are made - makes us poised to lead the charge."

Adam Green: Minor Love In Stores Today

Adam Green's new album Minor Love hits stores today on Fat Possum Records. The album shows a more serious, tender side of the uniquely charming, accomplished Green, who Time Out New York's The Volume blog recently declared, "...ranks among the city's strangest and most engaging young songwriters...he has created a body of work that's deceivingly smart...". Minor Love, his sixth solo venture since the Moldy Peaches went on hiatus in 2002, is a very personal, '70s-influenced folk-rock album and Green's best work to date: in a four-star review, Q Magazine wrote, "...Minor Love is charming; regularly recalling, on tracks such as Castles And Tassels, the barbed-yet-playful love songs Lou Reed used to pen."

Today AOL Music's Spinner blog premiered Green's video for Minor Love's first single "What Makes Him Act So Bad." The Todd Smolar-directed video, shot in New York City's famed Chelsea Hotel and featuring model/DJ Harley Viera-Newton, can be seen here, while the song can be downloaded here. Spinner is also featuring a full album stream for the week here. Earlier this month, RCRD LBL premiered album track "Castles and Tassels" as their 'MySpace Music RCRD of the Day;' the track can now be downloaded here.

Green will embark on a three and a half week headlining tour beginning April 1st at Venue in Vancouver, BC, and wrapping up April 23rd and 24th with a two-night hometown stand at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY. Last month, he spent ten days on the road in support of The Cribs before traveling overseas, where he is currently on a headlining tour in Europe.

Green will also perform at SXSW in March. Full itinerary is below.

Recently described by Recoil Magazine as "one of Michigan's most promising bands," UV HIPPO mixes tight funky jams with new dance beats and strange effects for a killer musical experience. The band performs an eclectic array of composed and improvised original material, dancing between genres of funk, jazz, electronica, reggae, bluegrass, and progressive rock.

The Marquee Magazine " experiencing UV Hippo live, jam band fans are quickly reminded why they fell in love with thegenre’s sound in the first place..."

Colorado for the third time in nine months. UVH kicks off their Colorado run with back to back shows opening for Garaj Mahal at Hodi's Half Note in Fort Collins and Agave in Avon on February 17th and 18th. This is not the first time these outfits have shared the stage, playing two high energy, insane shows in Kalamazoo and Chicago together at the end 2009. The Winter 2010 Tour is just the beginning of an ambitious list of new initiatives, long-term goals, and a commitment to responsible touring for UVH this year. After signing with Simon Says Booking Agency and
playing the Rothbury Pre-Party with EOTO in 2009, UV HIPPO is ready for a full plate. In addition to releasing their third full length studio album later in 2010, the band plans on touring both coasts and
everywhere they can in between, including stops on the national festival circuit.

A significant part of the 200-show agenda ULTRAVIOLET HIPPOPOTAMUS has planned for 2010, will be promoting green principles and sustainable touring. An important step in making this goal a reality
is investing in a used diesel shuttle bus and converting the bus to run on veggie oil, obtained through the discarded oil from FastFood joints! Coined, the "Hippopota-bus", this 1995 Ford E-350 Mini-Bus will
greatly reduce tour costs, lessen the band's overall carbon footprint and remove themselves from the global oil crisis. To promote their cause and raise funds, while educating their fans about sustainability,
UVH will launch a new line of organic, recycled clothing and other cool products throughout 2010. All profits from this new green line of clothing will go towards the purchase of the "Hippopota-bus" and
veggie-oil conversion. There will also be a donation jar, a limited edition poster and other sustainable 'Help Hippo Go Green' merchandise available, to support the band's new direction.

Today is Earth Day! Green is Good!

Go Green Everyday!- for the Grateful Web

Today is Earth Day, and while many of you are doing your part to go green, some not-so-green companies are spending a lot of money to pretend they are. While some companies are genuinely trying to be sustainable, others are paying lip service to being green while carrying on with business as usual. I'm sure you've seen the slick ads on TV and in your favorite magazine about environmentally-friendly oil and auto companies or so-called "clean coal."

It's what we call greenwashing - when a company advertises that it's developing a green product line or engaging in sustainable business practices when it really isn't. Well, this Earth Day, we've got news for them. Greenpeace has just launched a website designed to expose greenwashing practices in corporate America: www.StopGreenwash.org.

We're launching our new site with three investigative pieces on nuclear power, "Clean Coal" and General Motors' "Gas Friendly to Gas Free" campaigns.

And YOU have a chance to show these big companies that you won't be fooled by misleading green advertising and public relations campaigns. If you find an ad you think is a phony, upload it to our site. Or visit the site and vote for the ads you think are the most misleading.

And that's not all. Keep coming back to the site to get our take on these greenwashing campaigns. Coming soon will be more investigations of Big Auto, Big Oil, the chemical industry, and retailers. We'll expose the deception and give you the real story - wiping away the greenwash and spurring the companies to do better.

Want to do even more? The so-called "clean" coal industry isn't just trying to fool you - these companies are trying to fool Congress, too. And guess who will foot the bill? YOU will - through taxpayer subsidies!

"We're combining music with compelling speech to raise awareness of the problem of global warming and inspire people to action," said Kathleen Rogers, President of Earth Day Net work.  "Earth Day 2008 will bring major talent and leaders together to empower people to become environmentally active."

"Artists from every genre have raised their hands to participate in America's largest Earth Day celebration, spread out across the country in public parks for everyone to attend. With a "small footprint, large impact" ethos for 4/20, Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival organizers:

* Selected sites with eco-considerations such as the cities' public transportation infrastructures, pedestrian and/or bicycle accessibility, and presence of an organic atmosphere - i.e. parks rather than concrete stadiums.

*Volunteer activities in each city will extend the Festival's impact on the ground.

*Over 125 venues will become "Green Apple Venues" over Earth Day Weekend (4/18 - 4/20), as Festival organizers introduce environmentally-friendly practices/products at participating venues as a new way of doing business.

*With the help of Native Energy, a leader in the space of offsets, the Earth Day 2008 event on the National Mall and the entire Green Apple Festival will be made carbon neutral.

*In three markets, in low-income neighborhoods, Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival will carry out school greening projects.

earthAlready this year, Earth Day Network - with 19,000 partners in 175 countries - has registered over 1,000 community-based Earth Day events, taking place in Bejing, Tokyo, Caracas, Montreal, Paris, Budapest, Moscow. Mallorca and in many other cities across the globe.

About Earth Day Network: Earth Day Network seeks to grow and diversify the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable planet.  It pursues these goals through education, politics, and consumer activism. With year-round programs in environmental education, campus activism, global warming and international issues, Earth Day Network combines the forces of its 500,000 activists and members to mobilize action on the most pressing environmental issues.  Earth Day Network has a global reach with a network of more than 17,000 partners and organizations in 174 countries.  More than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest secular civic event in the world.

About Green Apple Festival: Now entering its third year, The Green Apple Festival was founded by producer Peter Shapiro and Zenbu Media, a music media company that publishes Relix Magazine, Global Rhythm, Metal Edge and Metal Maniacs and co-produces the Jammy Awards.

Since 2006, when The Green Apple Festival began in New York City, the event has galvanized music fans, environmentalists, progressive consumers and families in a growing number of cities on Earth Day by providing "something for everyone" events with music performances, family entertainment and interactive exhibits at public locations. In 2007, capacity crowds attended Green Apple events in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, setting a one-day attendance record at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, IL, for example, with over 40,000 people present. Lending weight to the Festival's endeavors is their partnership with Earth Day Network - the non-profit organization founded by the creators of the first Earth Day in 1970.

Tea Leaf Green On Tour This Winter

photos courtesy of Madison House- for the Grateful Web

It's been a busy summer for San Francisco's rising stars Tea Leaf Green, who made several festival appearances, including their second consecutive year at Bonnaroo.  Two years ago, the band played an epic debut performance to a Bonnaroo crowd of nearly 10,000; the audience spilled from under the massive tented area to be part of Tea Leaf Green history.  Since then, with non-stop touring and two critically acclaimed releases, Tea Leaf Green has garnered themselves a position among today's brightest young rockers.

Tea Leaf Green's latest release, Rock 'n' Roll Band (October 2006), captures lightning in a bottle. Available separately in both CD & DVD formats, the project joins the band for an evening performance at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado, and offers an intimate look at a day in the life of a young rock band on the rise. The DVD was directed by filmmaker Justin Kreutzmann, son of The Grateful Dead's Billy Kreutzmann.

In November 2007, after 10 years touring with Tea Leaf Green, bassist Ben Chambers left the band to pursue life off the road.  Now, Tea Leaf Green welcomes friend and colleague Reed Mathis (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) to the TLG organization.  Audiences can experience Tea Leaf Green's electrifying live show this fall at theaters coast to coast. The current list of confirmed dates is as follows:

December 07 Rio Theatre Santa Cruz CA
December 08 Troubadour West Hollywood CA
December 20-21 19 Broadway Fairfax CA
December 29 Beacon Theater New York NY supporting Gov't Mule
January 11 Bluebird Theater Denver CO
January 12 Fox Theatre Boulder CO
January 13 Hodi's Half Note Fort Collins CO
January 14 Ski Jam - Steamboat Music Tent Steamboat Springs CO
January 18-19 Crystal Bay Club Crystal Bay Nevada co-bill with Hot Buttered Rum
February 29 - March 01 Fillmore San Francisco CA
March 14-16 Jam in the 'Dam Amsterdam Netherlands

More dates to be announced.

Since the release of the band's first album, Taught to be Proud (2005), Tea Leaf Green has relentlessly toured North America, honing their strength as both songwriters and improvisers. Thanks to their dedicated and connected fan base, the band has gone from playing small bars to large theatres in just a few short years by consistently delivering fresh, mind-blowing live performances. After winning the "Song of the Year" Jammy award for Taught to be Proud 's title track, the road warriors plowed ahead and now sell out shows in major markets including Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York and, most notably, the historic Fillmore Auditorium in their hometown of San Francisco, CA. The band's chops have earned them the respect of their musical contemporaries, sharing the stage with such acts as Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, Gov't Mule, and Bruce Hornsby.
