THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS

williams

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS were molded on the streets of Oakland, California during the seventies (the only "white boys" on Salisbury Street) listening to their parents vast blues & country vinyl collection, the funk that flowed out of boomboxes (pre hip-hop), and the psychedelic folk rock that blossomed in the East Bay Area during that time. So it was inevitable that the brothers followed their families lineage of song and dance men (Gr,Gr,Gr,Great Grandpa penned the traditional favorite, "Sweet Betsy from Pike" in mid 1800's. Gr,Gr,Grandpa had a country swing big band that toured the US extensively in the 1910s-1920s), After moving to Roseville, Ca the brothers started putting together their first groups in the mid-eighties. (Uncle John's Band, 922, the Homegrown Boogie Band).

A WILLIAMS BROTHERS show features intertwining songs and extended improv induced jams fueled by any and all auditory stimulus to have ever sounded, there is no genre or barrier that is considered unusable, all previous artists are an influence in one way or another, it is true old school original jam music. JAMES WILLIAMS vocals are inspired by the grit of JIM MORRISON, the soul of OTIS REDDING and the personal experience of JERRY GARCIA. PHILLIP WILLIAMS plays lead guitar with a deep blues style that is noticeably influenced by JIMI HENDRIX, DUANE ALLMAN, ALVIN LEE and at times with a fluidity that is eerily reminiscent of JERRY GARCIA. Whether solo, together as "ACOUSTIC WB" or with their back-up group THE HOMEGROWN BOOGIE BAND, WILLIAMS BROTHERS shows are always full of surprises & special guests. it is never the same show twice.

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS BAND hit #1 on the mp3.com Blues charts 12/19/06 with JOHNNY THE SQUIRREL, coupled by DEEP ELEM BLUES which was simultaneously perched at #7. DEEP ELEM BLUES went on to hit #1 01/12/07. Both songs spent 4 weeks in the top 20.

TWBB has released a total of four albums (Three live recordings & one studio release), and have countless live bootleg recordings circulating throughout the tape trading ranks. TWBB is currently in the studio working on their next studio album which will be released spring '07. GJ Free Press Aug 2005; That has Operations Manager Clara Ward feeling pretty confident about the Williams Brothers Band performance scheduled for Friday at the gardens, considering they were the biggest draw of last summer's concert series. "They brought in the most people last year so we thought we'd better have them back," Ward said. "They were a lot of fun.""

Ratdog & Keller Williams Announce Summer Tour

Bobby @ The Fillmore in Denver- for the Grateful Web

Bob Weir and RatDog and Keller Williams will cross the country this summer, sharing a stage both separately and together, making music and doing what they do best.  The tour will begin in Atlanta on July 7th and end in Los Angeles on July 28th.

Bob Weir is a founding member of the legendary Grateful Dead.  He founded RatDog as a duo in 1995, and over the succeeding years he has enlisted Jay Lane (drums), Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), Mark Karan (lead guitar), Kenny Brooks (saxophone), and Robin Sylvester (bass).  RatDog plays not only Bob's various solo material but the complete Grateful Dead repertoire, and has evolved from an elegant duo to a snarling beast of a rock band that contains a jazz trio at its heart.

Keller Williams has been called guitar's mad-scientist and a one-man-band for the new millennium. Williams is considered by some, but not by himself, to be a master of the acoustic guitar, known for his ability to solo over layers of spontaneously created loops. He is a generous performer who plays down-to-earth acoustic music that defies any effort to find a convenient pigeonhole.  If pressed for a definition, Williams, as adept with language as he is with a guitar pick, calls it solo, acoustic jazzfunk reggae technograss – or simply - solo acoustic dance music.

Sometimes musicians tour together purely because of business.  These guys actually like each other, as evidenced by the tune "Cadillac" on Keller's recently released new album on SciFidelity, Dream, a duet between Keller and Bob.  Recorded at Weir's home studio, it also features an appearance from Weir family retriever Jackson (see the tour advertising design and notice who's driving the Cadillac!).  Or, as the inimitable Weir said of him, "Keller Williams is more fun than a frog in a glass of milk."  Keller seems to like the idea, too: "I love this tour because I get to get in for free."

That positive vibe will be felt across the country this summer.

Keller Williams New Album 'Dream,' Coming Soon

Keller Williams- for the Grateful Web

When singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Keller Williams scratched out a long and ambitious wish list of artists he'd like to collaborate with in the studio, he told himself "It can't hurt to dream." Today, with the release of his ninth studio album, Keller's dream comes true. For the release the usually one-man-band is backed by a dream team of musicians including Béla Fleck, Bobby Read, Bob Weir, Charlie Hunter, Derrek Phillips, Fareed Haque, Fleming McWilliams, Jeff Sipe, John Molo, John Scofield, Martin Sexton, Michael Franti, Modereko, Samir Chatterjee, Sanjay Mishra, Steve Kimock, The String Cheese Incident, and Victor Wooten. dream features 16 tracks of unblemished material: a cataract of electrifying musical alliances, and endless entertainment thanks to Keller's rapturous innovations and his earthy, barefoot-in-the-park presentation. Look for dream to be released February 6. 2007 on SCI Fidelity Records.

Keller Williams is a one-man band for the digital age. Using innovative looping technology and innate musical genius, Keller's live solo performances pack more music on one stage than a full fledge rock ensemble might. His inspired live shows sell out from coast to coast.
