Sam Bush Launches SBTV Video Series

October 20, 2009, marked numerous milestones for the multi-instrumentalist, three-time GRAMMY(TM) winner and affable, animated personality Sam Bush. Not only Bush's 25th wedding anniversary, October 20th also saw the release of Circles Around Me, his eighth solo release, and the launch of SBTV (Sam Bush TV), which continues Bush's foray in the realm of series video.

Bush, a founding member and mandolinist of the genre-defining act New Grass Revival and constant duet partner of Emmylou Harris in her Nash Ramblers outfit, has recently witnessed a surge in fan response thanks to his self-produced "Ask Sam Anything" videos. This series of personal, off-the-cuff short films features the artist fielding questions directly from his fans such as, "Do you still practice?" "What inspires you?" and "What have you been listening to lately?"

The overwhelming fan response to the series led Bush to continue exploring the concept of series videos. The result of that exploration is a multi-part video progression where candid descriptions of each song from his new release, Circles Around Me, are presented with personal and behind-the scenes footage of the artist. Sure to be a fan and critical favorite, Bush launched SBTV with his thoughts on the title track, a song co-written by Bush and Nashville-based performer and songwriter Jeff Black. The series continues with eagerly awaited episodes of Bush discussing all Circles Around Me tracks, which include collaborations with bluegrass legends Del McCoury, Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas and, thanks to the discovery of an old demo, New Grass Revival co-founder Courtney Johnson (posthumously) - as well as the vast contributions of his group of world-renowned musicians, the Sam Bush Band.

Railroad Earth Launches RRE-Mix

RRE @ Gathering of the Vibes 2005- for the Grateful Web

RAILROAD EARTH's (RRE) new album, Amen Corner (released on June 10), brings music appreciation to the next level with its RRE-Mix interactive feature. The band's latest self-produced album goes a step beyond the traditional "purchase and listen," and will now allow fans to digitally remix three of the album's tracks through their personal computer, with the help of some simple editing software.

"Since we recorded this whole album ourselves, and since more and more people own computers with audio recording and mixing capability, we thought it might be fun to give fans a whack at some of the individual tracks from our new record to play with on their own time," said Johnny Grubb, RRE bassist, who also wrote the easy-to-follow tutorial included with the downloads.

From an album that truly showcases Railroad Earth's remarkable songwriting and uniquely crafted arrangements, comes the innovative RRE-Mix feature, which will allow the band to engage its fans in a new and interactive way. Amen Corner was written and recorded at singer/songwriter, Todd Sheaffer's, 300 year-old house in New Jersey's rural countryside, and was the experience of a lifetime for the band's members. The non-traditional recording setting resulted in a collection of songs that truly resonate with the energy of what the band was experiencing during and around the sessions.

This idea of allowing fans to partake in the music creating and mixing process crosses a relatively new frontier in the music industry. To help fans navigate, the band has provided basic tutorials about how to use mixing software...as well as a free downloadable online program with a relatively easy to use interface. RRE-Mix is designed for individuals at all levels of digital mixing ability to enjoy.

All within easy walking distance of each other, the festival's four stages feature over sixty national, independent and emerging acts during the 4 day event.  Festival goers retreat within the festival's wooded hills and shaded campsites as a soundtrack from the jam band world's crème de la crème plays in the background.

treyThe feedback from the media echoes responses from attendees. The Minneapolis Star Tribune admires that the 10,000 Lakes Festival was "filled with thousands of good vibes…The cutting edge of them all." Jambase.com calls 10KLF "gold from the North Country".  Colorado's Marquee Magazine affirms that "10KLF creates the summer's best musical experience," and Canada's Jambands.ca remarks the event is "everything a festival should be."

While the main focus of 10KLF is meshing top notch entertainment within a pristine natural setting, the event also takes pride in being a philanthropic member of the community. By partnering with CLIF Bar and Native Energy, the 10,000 Lakes Festival now allows patrons to offset the CO2 emissions of their automobile or airline travel up to the festival by purchasing 'Cool Tags' at the online ticket check out.  Each Cool Tag invests $2 in NativeEnergy's WindBuilders program, helping the Rosebud Sioux Tribe build a wind farm on their reservation in South Dakota.
