Cut Copy Announce New Album, Zonoscope

Ladies and gentlemen please welcome back Cut Copy! Ever the gracious houseguests, they’re returning armed with their 3rd and most ambitious work yet, Zonoscope which will be released February 8, 2011 in North America.

Zonoscope is Cut Copy boiled down to their purest form, a suite of futuristic visions built upon primal rhythm tracks. It is at once their most immediate work to date but also their most sonically exquisite. “Take Me Over” perfectly encapsulates this, it’s chiming highlife guitars bouncing around tropical percussion reminiscent of an island holiday in a pop song.

Zonoscope was dreamt in the comedown of In Ghost Colours, the album which cemented Cut Copy as a global sensation. Their perpetual touring cycle found the band headline a stage at Lollapalooza, become the first Australian act to play Colombia since INXS, have fire marshals shut down an LA performance mid-set as crowds began to buckle the seams of the Henry Fonda Theatre and be raced to the Pitchfork Festival via police escort following a cancelled flight.

After over two years of exhilarating chaos, frontman Dan Whitford bunkered down at home to flesh out rough synth and vocal skeletons, before heading into the studio with the band to bring these textured grooves to life. Whitford describes the wonderland which he set out to create with Tim Hoey, Mitchell Scott and Ben Browning, “All the way along we had this weird vision of a tropical, jungle, tribal sound. A place or an idea that we wanted to reach with some of the songwriting; to explore a looping hypnotic trance and revise the whole palette of what Cut Copy was about.”

Recorded over a 6 month period in a warehouse space the band rented in Melbourne and mixed in Atlanta by Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, Deerhunter), Zonoscope paints a mesmerizing picture, conjured by a band at the height of their powers.

More music is revealed in this piece, which sees the band moving into their Christmas St recording warehouse, and all band members involved in the creative process.

Yonder Mountain & Leftover Salmon @ Red Rocks

This Friday August 27th Leftover Salmon will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Billed with Yonder Mountain String Band and Split Lip Rayfield, this is sure to be a show not to be missed. This evening of music will bring two of Colorado’s best known jam grass bands together on a bill that’s long overdue! Salmon will hit the stage at 7pm sharp, so plan on getting there on time. Meet the Band / DVD Signing Thursday August 26th!

To kick off Friday’s festivities at Red Rocks and celebrate the release of our new DVD “Twice in a Blue Moon” that was filmed at the bands 20th celebration this past New Year’s, Drew, Vince, and the gang will be on hand at Pete’s Monkey Bar on Thursday.  They will be signing your copy of the DVD. there will also be a blow out merchandise sale. Yonder will be playing at the Ogden Theatre that night and this will be a pre-party to their performance later that evening.

Harvest Festival at Mountain Mulberry October 14-16

LOTUS ANNOUNCES THEIR "COPY PASTE REPEAT" TOUR

For those waiting for a concert experience with the dynamics of a rock band (read: no laptops), the dance inducing rhythms of club music, and the sophistication of modern electronica, an unlikely musical alternative has arrived in the form of the band Lotus.  Formed at a Mennonite college that had banned on-campus dancing as late as the 1980's, Lotus brings their club-worthy beats and rocking instrumental anthems to theaters throughout the country this fall.  No glow-stick bracelets, pretentious Can trivia, or expensive distressed fashion required.

In January 2008, Lotus embarks on their "Copy Paste Repeat" tour, which celebrates the release of Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed, and album the band released this past November. The recording offers 12 remixes by renowned producers including DFA Records artist Juan Maclean, DJ Harry, and Lotus's own Jesse Miller.  Lotus's post/electro/dancerock is deconstructed and reassembled into club ready dance, dub, glitch-hop, and IDM tracks.  The band's website is currently offering up the source files for the track 'Bubonic Tonic' for fans to create their own remix and submit for review.  The site will feature the band's favorite submissions.

Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed comes on the heels of the band's third studio album. Escaping Sargasso Sea, released May 2007, is a double-disc live album that draws from two previous studio albums, Nomad and The Strength of Weak Ties, along with never before released material.  From the post/math-rock of "When H Binds to O" to the slippery dance beats of "Wax," this collection shows Lotus's ability to deconstruct, stretch, and rebuild their compositions spontaneously on stage.  Restraining from flaunting their individual chops, Lotus builds compositions on catchy melodies and heavy grooves.

The five-piece band has creatively fused electronic dance music with instrumental post-rock for eight years. The result is an explosive live show that has made crowds get down across the US, Canada, and Japan. Armed with a massive light rig and one of the most energetic shows on the circuit, Lotus proves why they have become a go-to act for late night festival slots.  This tour takes the band into renowned theatres nationwide including Georgia Theatre in Athens, the Recher Theatre in Towson, and the Granada Theater in Dallas, among others.
