.
After his performances at SXSW and the South Beach Food & Wine FestivalAndrew Belle has returned to hometown Chicago to prepare the limited edition re-release of debut LP The Ladder featuring new music and new artwork and has planned a celebration around the release with his biggest Chicago show to date.
Andrew Belle is a new artist on the pop singer/songwriter scene. Residing in both Chicago and Nashville, he is currently touring clubs and universities across the country, and is also a member of the critically acclaimed national tour Ten Out Of Tenn. Andrew released his debut EP All Those Pretty Lights in 2008, containing songs featured in hit TV shows including “90210”, “The Real World”, “Ghost Whisperer” and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”.
His debut full-length album The Ladder was released in February 2010 on 1L Music. The Ladder reached #1 on iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, scored a spot in the Top 100 chart on iTunes and charted in the Top 25 on the Billboard Heatseakers Chart.  His songs have garnered nationwide airplay including Chicago’s WXRT, Nashville’s WRLT, and Los Angeles’ KCRW. Andrew recently was named “Best Breakout Artist, Chicago” by MTV. Lissie Named VH1's Next "You Oughta Know" Artist

Lissie has been named VH1's next "You Oughta Know" artist, joining the ranks of the highly acclaimed franchise that has helped break many artists such as Adele, Sara Bareilles, Feist, Mumford & Sons, and Regina Spektor, among others. Lissie's VH1 "You Oughta Know" support includes music videos on VH1 and streamed music videos, interview clips, tour updates, photos and more at YouOughtaKnow.VH1.com beginning on May 2nd. On-air support on VH1 begins May 9th. Launched in 2004, the "You Oughta Know" program introduces promising new artists on the rise to VH1's base of music lovers.  Other current artists in the program include The Civil Wars, Fitz and The Tantrums, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Christina Perri, and Two Door Cinema Club.

On Saturday May 21st, following her current three-week Australian tour, Lissie will perform a benefit concert at the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter Walk in Wheaton, IL. Each year, the Walk to Defeat ALSTM brings communities together in the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease, to which Lissie lost her aunt this past fall. Registration begins in Cantigny Park at 9am; the Walk begins at 11am and Lissie will perform immediately following the Walk. To register online, donate, or for more information on the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter Walk, please visit http://web.alsa.org/goto/lissie.

Later this summer, Lissie will perform at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, IL, the weekend of August 5th-7th. She'll also perform at the Cities97 Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis, MN, on July 8th, as well as at multiple European festivals in June and July - including the Isle of Wight Festival and Rockness 2011 in the UK. Lissie's US headlining tour in January and February featured multiple sold-out shows and drew glowing live reviews: SPIN.com declared of her Los Angeles show at The Music Box, "The way the sandy blonde stunner would count her players off in a whisper, the way she'd quietly coax each song out of its corner then build to a roar...one couldn't help but be a little in love for an hour at least."

Lissie's debut full-length album Catching A Tiger, released in the US August 17th, 2010 via Fat Possum, was primarily recorded in Nashville, TN, with Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones, Modest Mouse) and in Asheville, NC, with Bill Reynolds (of Band Of Horses, who also produced most of her 2009 EP, Why You Runnin'). The album - a captivating mix of classic '60s-flavored pop, spirited folk, and brilliant pop/rock anchored by Lissie's remarkably soulful, powerful voice - has garnered significant attention from the press, including The A.V. Club, Billboard, Blurt, The Boston Globe, Filter, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Paste ('Best New Solo Artist of 2010'), Relix, SPIN, and USA Today. Her cover of Kid Cudi's "Pursuit Of Happiness" is featured as one of '50 Songs Every Man Should Be Listening To' in the music issue of Esquire on stands now.

Lissie appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in early February, performing "When I'm Alone," iTunes UK's '2010 Song Of The Year.' Last Call With Carson Daly has aired live performances of "In Sleep" and "Little Lovin'," taped at her October sold-out show at Los Angeles' The Troubadour, in October 2010 and March 2011, respectively.

Scattered Trees' Sympathy Out Today

Scattered Trees’ highly anticipated new album Sympathy (Roll Call/EMI) hits stores across the country today. In honor of the album’s release, AOL Spinner is currently streaming the album in its entirety — click HERE to listen. The band has also made their anthemic track “Four Days Straight” available for free download. Click HERE to download the track. Scattered Trees has also created four videos for “Four Days Straight” with the help of film students at four different schools in NYC, and is currently running a contest on Consequence of Sound to select the band’s next official video. Click HERE to view the videos and vote on the contest. And to celebrate the Sympathy’s release, Scattered Trees has announced a very special album release show on 4/30 at Schubas in Chicago. See the band’s full tour dates below.

Already, the album has been hailed by Nylon, RCRD LBL, Consequence of Sound and others as an album that’s not to be missed. And it’s easy to see why. The album is a focused, deeply personal collection of songs that finds Scattered Trees experimenting with lush multi-part harmonies, constructing dynamic builds, and exploring the intricacies of love and loss. Driving rock epics like “Four Days Straight” rub shoulders with melancholic elegies like “Where You Came From.” The album’s title track starts with a stripped-down plaintive mandolin, ultimately fading into a slow-burning orchestral groove. Melting into “Five Minutes,” Scattered Trees continues the build until the track bursts forth. The band rounds out the record with the mournful acoustic closer “On Your Side,” a fitting tribute for a deeply heartfelt and therapeutic album.

JETHRO TULL Celebrates AQUALUNG's 40th Anniversary w/ North American Tour

In celebration of the park bench, dribbly-nosed voyeur's 40th Anniversary, Ian Anderson returns to the USA with his band Jethro Tull, starting June 8 in Denver, CO and ending on the 27 in Chicago, IL.

The group features longtime members Ian Anderson (flute, vocals, acoustic guitar) and Martin Barre (guitars), Doane Perry (drums), as well as David Goodier (bass) and pianist John O'Hara.  The latter two joined in 2006 after working with Ian on some of his solo projects.

The group will be performing the Aqualung album in its entirety plus a range of their other favorites from the lat 42 years.  Critics dubbed AQUALUNG “a concept album,” particularly for Ian's critical, skeptical views of organized religion, mostly on side B ("My God," "Hymn 43"). Anderson has disputed - almost resented - the assessment seeing the record as "just a bunch of songs." This led the band to give the critics a full-blown concept album with the following studio release THICK AS A BRICK which topped the Billboard charts in 1972.

On AQUALUNG, the group explores the struggles of the less fortunate in our society (e.g., "Aqualung," "Cross-Eyed Mary," "Up to Me"). Teenage angst and formal education difficulties (e.g., "Wind Up") are explored, and Ian returns to his parental themes with "Cheap Day Return," a tune encompassing Anderson's feelings while traveling North on the train to visit his sick father. "Locomotive Breath" touches on the issues of globalization, population expansion and runaway economics. Sound familiar?

Formed in 1968, Jethro Tull released its first album THIS WAS late in that year and followed up in 1969 with STAND UP.  In the 1970s, the group was one of the most successful live performing acts on the world stage, rivaling Zeppelin, Elton John and even the Rolling Stones. Surprising, really, for a group whose more sophisticated and evolved stylistic extravagance was far from the Pop and Rock norm of that era.

With now some 30-odd albums to their credit and sales totaling more than 50 million, the apparently un-commercial Tull continues to perform over a 100 concerts per year with its rich variety and depth of expression, wherever fans, young and old, want to hear Rock, Folk, Jazz and Classical-inspired music. Music for boys in long trousers and girls with brains.

In 2011, Tull will tour in Australia, Ireland, and Germany.  And Ian will perform solo shows in Germany, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Czech Republic, the UK, Sweden, Denmark and Finland finishing with his customary charity Christmas concerts at three UK cathedrals.

In 2006, Ian was awarded a Doctorate in Literature from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement in Music and, in the New Years Honours List 2008, an MBE for services to music. In 2012, he expects to be awarded the Smithsonian Medal of Honor for smelling OK for someone his age and having ears still in proportion to the rest of his head. His bladder remains elastic and his prostate the size of a pinhead.

Umphrey's McGee Hosts UMBowl II

UMPHREY’S MCGEE brings the ultimate fan experience back to Chicago with UMBowl II on April 2, 2011 at Park West. The uniquely interactive state-of-the-art intimate concert event will keep both band and fan on their toes with the audience calling all of the plays during four, 45 minute musical quarters (see full breakdown below), each with a different interactive theme. Quarter One invites the audience to choose the opening song / set list, Quarter Two will be a “Stew Art” (S2) full improvisational set, Quarter Three’s “Special Teams” is new to UMBowl this year with special band line-up changes and anything goes configurations, Quarter Four closes the show with an all request fantasy team of musical concoctions that have never been heard before.

“With UMBowl, Umphrey's McGee have furthered their forward-thinking reputation, leveraging their traditional touring, merchandise and recorded music businesses with tech-driven marketing innovation." said Syd Schwartz, CEO of Linchpin Digital who advises the group on digital marketing strategy. “UMBowl brings artist and audience closer together, creating a 'full contact' interactive music experience, continuing Umphrey's stellar track record as a DIY success story."

Tickets went on sale last week and sold out within minutes. VIP Packages are still available through CID Entertainment. Sponsors for UMBowl II include Vienna Beef, D'Agostinos Pizzeria, and Source Audio.

UMBowl II quarterly breakdown as follows…

Quarter One - The fan is the quarterback

Those in attendance will be calling the plays starting with the opening notes of this year's event. A series of choices will be presented to the audience on large projection screens throughout the venue. The fans then decide what song the band will open with. Voting will occur via text message courtesy of Mozes, and the results will be tallied in real time in front of the audience and the band. The audience will then have the chance to call an audible and dictate what's next by choosing from a wide variety of UM originals, improvisational styles and cover songs. The audience picks the plays and determines the strategy to make a killer set.

Quarter Two - Stew Art* improvisational set

The band will play a full set of improvisation based exclusively on themes, ideas, scenes, and concepts presented by fans. Entries will be submitted via text message and the best will be added to the playbook. Expect handoffs and hail marys as one musical idea is lateraled to another. The selected themes will appear before both the band and audience in real time so split second decisions will be paramount.
* Stew Art set is named after the Jimmy Stewart Ballroom in Chicago where the band recorded their first successful improv session.

Quarter Three – Special Teams

UM are thrilled to introduce the Special Teams quarter, a brand new concept for the UMBowl. Constantly evolving line-ups will keep everyone guessing as the quarter unfolds with various teams taking the field. Everything is possible – solos, duos, trios, and quartets as the band adapts to the conditions inside the stadium. You won't know who might pop up behind the drum kit or on the keyboards. Any configuration of the band may take the stage, although not likely the one you're used to.

Quarter Four – All Request

UM is looking to go out with a bang and want the audience’s help. Last year's All Request quarter was the overwhelming fan favorite and it’s back by popular demand. All ticket buyers will receive a ballot to vote for the songs they’d most like to hear. Expect everything from older, more rare choices to bizarre, alternate versions of "the hits" to curveball covers. There will also be a write in category for fans to submit their own requests. Challenge the band to rethink old favorites. Everything is fair game.

FOR VIP TICKETS AND PACKAGES:

Visit www.cidentertainment.comThe "QB Sneak" and "Hail Mary" packages include tickets to UMBowl, Pre-Party at The Store, collectible Merchandise, Early Entrance into the Park West, a Group Photo with Team Umphrey's and more. Rebirth Brass Band Announce 'Rebirth of New Orleans'

Rebirth Brass Band is proud to announce the release of their new album, Rebirth of New Orleans, out April 12 via Basin Street Records. The new album was produced by GRAMMY® Award winner Tracey Freeman (Harry Connick, Jr., Kermit Ruffins). For a sample of what to expect, listen to “Do It Again.”

Hailed by the New York Times as “a New Orleans institution,” the Rebirth Brass Band have been at the forefront of the brass band revival that they helped kick off almost 30 years ago. Formed by the Frazier brothers, Phil and Keith, along with Basin Street labelmate Kermit Ruffins in 1983, the Rebirth Brass Band has gone from playing on corners in the French Quarter to selling out concert halls across the world and appearing in David Simon’s HBO hit “Tremé.” It’s been a long road, but the Rebirth Brass Band has become one of the most beloved brass bands in New Orleans and around the world.

Since their founding, they’ve developed a signature brand of heavy funk that they expand upon on their latest effort, Rebirth of New Orleans. Opener “Exactly Like You” starts the album off with a rollicking, Mardi Gras stomp. “The Dilemma” and “Do It Again” find the group locking in to a down-tempo, Latin-influenced grooves, anchored by Phil Frazier’s tuba. And “Shrimp and Gumbo” and “Feelin’ Fine” find the band effortlessly perfecting the New Orleans-style brass lines that put the city on the map.

Rebirth Brass Band were featured in the opening scene of David Simon’s hit HBO show “Tremé” as well as on the GRAMMY® nominated soundtrack. No band exemplifies the essence and soul of New Orleans like Rebirth Brass Band.

Boba Fett on Drums! | Scattered Trees' Love and Leave

Scattered Trees premiered their new “Star Wars” inspired video for “Love and Leave” today exclusively on Boing Boing. Watch the video, which features sad stormtroopers, a coldblooded Queen Amidala, and Boba Fett on drums HERE. The song, “Love and Leave,” is taken from Scattered Trees’ forthcoming full-length, Sympathy, due out April 5th on Roll Call Records/EMI. Download the song HERE (feel free to post and share) — it’s currently the 7th most popular song on Hype Machine. The loving tribute to The Star Wars saga was directed by Scattered Trees’ guitarist J.M. Harper in February in the band’s apartment. It’s a loose (very loose) interpretation of “A New Hope,” if the film was set in a snowy Chicago apartment.

The band’s premiere for “Love and Leave” comes as the band is prepping the release of their latest record Sympathy, which will be released on April 5th via Roll Call Records/EMI. The album is a focused, deeply personal collection of songs that finds Scattered Trees experimenting with lush multi-part harmonies, constructing dynamic builds, and exploring the intricacies of love and loss. Opening with “Bury the Floors,” lead singer Nate Eiesland sings “It’s the house that I built you to fall / We started to walk then we stood up to crawl / So bury the floors and burn down the walls / to find ourselves by morning.” Driving rock epics like “Four Days Straight” rub shoulders with melancholic elegies like “Where You Came From.” The album’s title track starts with a stripped-down plaintive mandolin, ultimately fading into a slow-burning orchestral groove. Melting into “Five Minutes,” Scattered Trees continues the build until the track bursts forth. The band rounds out the record with the mournful acoustic closer “On Your Side,” a fitting tribute for a deeply heartfelt and therapeutic album.
