Third Annual Pink Moon Festival Coming Soon!

Tickets are on sale now for the third annual Pink Moon Festival.  Growing upon the success of the previous festivals, organizer Seth Abramson and crew have scheduled an amazing lineup of musicians, artisans and activities for music and art lovers of all genres.

National acts Particle and The Donna Jean Godchaux Band (featuring Jeff Matson from Dark Star Orchestra) will headline. Other regional acts include Josh Phillips Folk Festival, Sol and Funk Root, The DJ Williams Projekt, Galaxy Dynamite, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Dj Rahbee and Friends and The Kind.

Local talent including Funk Punch, Catatronic, Triscale, The Materia Project, Levi’s Gene Pool, Urth, Soul Stone Revival, RTFM, Groova Scape, The Boatmen and Schak will also perform.

The festival takes place on Abramson’s family farm. Festival goers will enjoy beautiful mountain views in a very intimate space with ancient oak trees shading the newly built Shangri-La Vending and Artist Village complete with instillation art, a brand new side stage and DJ booth, and a variety of activities and vendors including body painting for charity (all proceeds go to music and arts programs in Monroe County, WV’s public schools), massage therapy, exotic crafts vendors and a black light mini-golf course. Also $1 from every ticket purchased will go to The Rex Foundation.

Discounted pre-sale tickets, festival information, directions, vendor application info, and a full line-up can be found at pinkmoonfestival.com.

Pink Moon Festival is a Rock Camp Production and is the final show in the company’s Glo-deo (giant glowing dragon puppet rodeo) tour in which large ensembles of puppeteers present spectacle performances at major music festivals across the country.

Performances this season include All Good Music Festival, Gathering of the Vibes, Elysian Fields, Camp Barefoot, and Pink Moon.  Previous performances include Phish 8 (w/Phish 3d movie spots), Bonnaroo, Langerado, 10,000 Lakes Festival, Disorient Times Square and a slew of themed events in NYC nightclubs with DJ’s including Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, and many more.

The Pink Moon Festival is a tribute to festival organizer Seth Abramson’s mother Pinky, who passed away in an ATV accident in 2006. In between going to college and getting his Master’s degree, Seth spent a lot of time with his mother Pinky in Rock Camp. There they worked in the old general store and regularly hosted music events on the mountain. Pink Moon is an attempt to celebrate the traditions that Pinky pioneered in Rock Camp by honoring her life and sharing the love she left behind with as many people as possible.

The String Cheese Incident Announces 2011 Fall Dates

Today, The String Cheese Incident announced their first multi-city run in four years. “Roots Run Deep” 2011 begins Thanksgiving weekend and travels through southern and eastern U.S. historic venues including Atlanta’s legendary Fox Theatre, a return to the newly re-opened Georgia Theatre, Nashville’s landmark Ryman Auditorium (with a special acoustic first set), and a two-night stand at New York City’s magnificent United Palace. The full list of tour dates is included below, and tickets go on sale beginning August 25 at www.stringcheeseincident.com.

The String Cheese Incident has only made limited appearances since 2007, so “Roots Run Deep” affirms the band is back together and ready to rock. In 2009, SCI sent waves through the music community when they broke their almost three year silence by announcing they would play a headlining slot at the second annual ROTHBURY music festival. The performances were downright epic, and left fans old and new - and the band themselves - wondering what was next.

In 2010 and 2011, SCI played a handful of sold out multi-night extravaganzas at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 1STBank Center, and Horning’s Hideout, and a monstrous “Hulaween” run at Hampton Coliseum. In addition, SCI performed much buzzed-about festival plays at Bonnaroo’s 10 year celebration and the inaugural Electric Forest, where SCI anchored the cutting-edge festival with three headlining performances - and seamlessly bridged the gap between the jamband and electronic music communities once and for all.

Recent live Incidents have proven that The String Cheese Incident continues to evolve, and that the band is more musically inspired and unified than ever. “All of us feel that our recent Incidents have been some of our best yet,” explains SCI’s Keith Moseley. “We are excited to get on the bus and play again in such historic venues.” Michael Kang adds, “It’ll be great to immerse ourselves on the road for a bit. There is nothing like the groove we get into when we play nine shows in ten days. It will allow us to take even more chances.”

TICKETS to SCI Fall Tour 2011: Pre-sale begins Thursday, August 25 at 10am MDT at www.stringcheeseincident.com, with public on-sale on beginning Friday, August 26 (or Saturday, August 27 depending on the tour market) at 10 am MDT at www.ticketmaster.com.

Concurrent with the band’s long-standing ethos of giving back to communities and causes, The String Cheese Incident is looking forward to supporting Conscious Alliance, HeadCount, and Waterkeeper Alliance this Fall Tour.

Live recordings of each show along the Roots Run Deep 2011 will be made available for download. Presale is going on now at www.livecheese.com.

The Festy Experience is More Than Just Great Music!

The 2nd annual Festy Experience will take place October 7th - 9th, 2011 at the Concert Grounds at Devils Backbone in Nelson County, VA. Curated by bluegrass-bending group The Infamous Stringdusters, The Festy revolves around the essential festival elements of good music, local sustenance, and the great outdoors. A confirmed lineup is listed below and tickets are currently on sale. More bands and activities will be announced in the coming weeks.

"The Stringdusters are practically obsessed with festivals," admits Travis Book of the Infamous Stringdusters.  "We learned to play at festivals, we met at festivals, and we love the community created by festivals. The Festy Experience is amazing music, local food and libations, and a legit outdoor lifestyle experience. It's our ideal weekend; a good hang and an awesome party in a beautiful place."

Of course live music is an integral part to The Festy Experience. Despite The Infamous Stringdusters forming numerous connections to the “bluegrass” world, The Festy does not strictly feature bluegrass talent. Instead, The Stringdusters invited the diverse bands and musicians they've met on the road and at other festivals. Featured performers include Railroad Earth, David Grisman Sextet, Brett Dennen, Jim Lauderdale, Emmitt-Nershi Band, Toubab Krewe, The Wood Brothers, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and more.

Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and only a short distance from the historical Appalachian Trail, The Festy provides a premiere location for camping and outdoor enthusiasts. Just up the road from the Concert Grounds (and accessible by shuttle for spectators), the Virginia Off-Road Series will host the Devils Backbone Challenge mountain bike race. Trail blazers can take part in the Blue Ridge Burn 5k/10k run hosted by Blue Ridge Outdoors, and nature lovers of all levels are encouraged to hike mountain trails, and participate in yoga classes.

The Festy has also taken major strides to provide exceptional and sustainable food options for their attendees. Community partners The Rock Barn, Devils Backbone Brewery and Java Depot offer on-site dining and sustenance options. Locally brewed beer is supplied by Star Hill and Devils Backbone breweries and select wines will be available from Nelson County Vineyards.

A limited quantity of weekend festival tickets including camping are available for $99 and currently on sale through The Festy website at www.thefesty.com. Day passes will not be sold if the festival sells out in advance.

Slightly Stoopid Announces Second Leg of Seedless Summer Tour

Today Slightly Stoopid announce the second leg of their Seedless Summer 2011 Tour, including shows at Governors Island (New York), Masquerade Music Park (Atlanta), Charter One Pavilion (Chicago) and many points in between. Pre-sale is happening now at www.slightlystoopid.com, with tickets available to the general public beginning Friday, May 20.

The Seedless Summer 2011 Tour, which unveiled the first leg of dates last week, brings Slightly Stoopid’s California-born music to sheds around the country this summer with Rebelution and Shwayze & Cisco Adler also on the bill.

Look for Seedless Summer 2011 Tour to make 25 stops in all, including some of the country’s best outdoor venues; Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, and Cricket Amphitheater in their hometown of San Diego, CA. As The San Diego Union-Tribune recently reported, “Headlining Cricket for the third year in a row is a coup for the Ocean Beach-based group -- a feat unmatched by blink-182, Jason Mraz, Jewel, P.O.D. or any other nationally prominent San Diego act, past or present.” The complete list of Slightly Stoopid’s Seedless Summer 2011 Tour dates in included below.

Formed in 1995 in San Diego, CA’s Ocean Beach by childhood friends Miles Doughty (guitar, bass, vocals) and Kyle McDonald (guitar, bass, vocals), Slightly Stoopid has become one of the most influential and progressive improvisational musical outfits on the tour circuit. And as Amped Up Magazine points out, it’s for good reason,

“Slightly Stoopid have perfected one of the rarest and most valuable skills a band can develop: the art of the stealth groove.” Always a festival favorite, Slightly Stoopid has performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Milwaukee Summerfest, Wakarusa, and many others. With their two most recent albums both debuting on Billboard and iTunes charts, the band has sold over 750,000 albums and now releases all material on Doughty and McDonald’s own record label, Stoopid Records.
