They Might Be Giants Release "Join Us" Today

They Might Be Giants released their new album, Join Us, released in all digital and physical outlets today through Idlewild/Rounder Records. On Join Us we find the Brooklyn originals have returned to rock and to their singular sensibility that made them an instant phenomenon in the world of alternative rock. Receiving acclaim from USA Today, SPIN Magazine, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine and more, check it out for yourself!  The full album  is streaming on AOL Spinner and you can download album track “Judy Is Your Viet Nam” MP3 where it premiered on RCRD LBL today or HERE.

The winner has been chosen for TMBG’s fan video contest judged by John Hodgeman for their single “Can’t Keep Johnny Down”. The winners, Mohit Jaswal, Euardo Urueana, and Justin Dean, have created a cleverly backwards video which capture the true soaring spirit of Johnny!

The record opens with “Can’t Keep Johnny Down” -- a summer-perfect pop single that will get instantly stuck in your head and make you want to roll down the windows. Immediately following, the caffeinated fuzz of “You Probably Get That a Lot” will command you to pogo! “When Will You Die” features TMBG’s own formula for punk. The short and sweet  “Judy Is Your Viet Nam” tells an anthemic tale of unrequited infatuation.  The pure folk-pop of “Old Pine Box” showcases the band's signature harmonies, handclaps and the always popular, never anticipated vocoder. The wit TMBG are known for is at it’s finest on Join Us, album closer “You Don’t Like Me” has lyrical gems like “I can see the future like it’s in the past”.

Notorious for their energized live show, They Might Be Giants will launch an international tour this Fall, hitting 6 countries and over 50 US cities. Be sure to catch TMBG live in your city!

Los Lonely Boys continue carving out their legend with 4th studio album

After proving themselves one of the most stunning and wonderful musical success stories of the last decade, Los Lonely Boys continue to carve out their legend with their fourth studio album, their first self-produced LP on their own LonelyTone/Playing In Traffic Records, Rockpango.
Supporting this newest release, Los Lonely Boys hit the road to share the utterly unique combination of blues, rock, soul, their Latino heritage and snippets of hip-hop found on Rockpango. For a preview of what to expect, check out the undeniably fun animated video for "16 Monkeys."
Since debuting in 2003 with a multi-chart gold single, selling millions of albums, winning a Grammy, racking up reams of critical praise, opening for the Rolling Stones and playing and recording with such legends as Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana, Rockpango further enforces All Music Guide's assertion that Los Lonely Boys are "one of America's premier rock bands."

Tea Leaf Green pays tribute to the Big Man at the Stone Pony

This past Sunday, Father’s Day, Tea Leaf Green performed at the fabled Stone Pony bar and frequent home of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in what became a tribute concert for legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons. Springsteen and Clemons met at the Asbury Park bar in 1971, a story both men have told onstage for the past 40 years. Clemons, 69, the “Big Man” in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, died Saturday night.

Fans who came to pay respects were given free admission to evening headliners Tea Leaf Green who showed love and admiration for Clemons. “It was an honor to pay tribute to ‘The Big Man’ at our last show on this leg of the tour,” said guitarist/vocalist Josh Clark. “We saw firsthand how much Asbury Park and the Stone Pony loved him. We listened to him play all day in the van on our way down there.”

Fellow band member Trevor Garrod added, “When we found out Clarence had died we where still a few hours from Asbury Park. It was a beautiful day; the sun was setting into a riot of crimson clouds; flowers and chalk drawings lined the sidewalk outside of the club. The Atlantic Ocean's waves rolled calmly in across the street. Though we where only coming through coincidentally, we nonetheless felt honored to be part of the celebration of this great musician's life. We couldn't help but feel that somehow the universe was encouraging us to keep up this tradition of rock 'n roll. After we played our set, I jumped into the moonlit sea with some kids who had come to watch the show. I couldn't help but wonder if, back in the day, Clarence had ever done the same. He will be missed.”

San Francisco Bay Area troubadours Tea Leaf Green are newfangled Lost Boys, a traveling gang dedicated to seeking wisdom and experience in places both glorious and seedy. The band’s summer tour kicks off on July 2 in Colorado on the heels of its seventh studio album, Radio Tragedy!, freshly released through Thirty Tigers.

In many ways, this quintet is the essence of rock’s adventurous, playfully outlaw spirit, all of which ultimately fuels songs that resonate with classic vibrations, open-ended possibilities and radio-ready charm. With Radio Tragedy!, Tea Leaf Green have made a record that’s both timely and timeless - a strange, beautiful space that they inhabit naturally and gracefully.

Willie Nelson, Rhett Miller, Robert Earl Keen and More Pay Tribute to Sara Hickman

With an unwavering dedication to increased awareness and funding for arts education and a passion for art and the creative process, Sara Hickman provides a unique and powerful voice for women, her generation and the value and importance of the arts in school. It is no wonder more than 30 Texas music legends including Willie Nelson, Rhett Miller, Shawn Colvin, Robert Earl Keen and dozens more have come together to both pay tribute and add to her philanthropic endeavors with The Best of Times. Sales of this compilation CD, available nationwide August 23, 2011, will benefit Theatre Action Project (TAP), a non-profit that brings art, music and theatre to Central Texas schools.

The 38-track double disc project was inspired by a recent slash in arts funding by Texas State Legislature. “I wanted to utilize my position as the Official State Musician of Texas to promote families being creative together,” says Hickman. “Many times this starts with children bringing home ideas they learn at school.”

The compilation CD was created to raise funds for TAP and help the organization take the arts and theatre back into the schools. Hickman goes on to say, “I knew thousands and thousands of Texas children were missing out on what art, music, theater, dance and writing can bring to their lives.” Hickman’s goal is to raise $250,000 for TAP and share her story with Texas state legislature on Arts Day in an effort to have arts funding fully reinstate in Texas schools.

Lindsey Buckingham announces sixth solo album

Legendary guitarist, singer/songwriter, Grammy winner, producer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Lindsey Buckingham will release his sixth solo album, Seeds We Sow, on September 6, 2011.  This album is Buckingham’s first self-release, in which he took a true DIY approach, not only writing and performing every song on the record but producing and mixing them as well. Buckingham also announced a 31-city North American tour in support of the album which kicks off on September 9 in Nevada and continues through October 25 in Napa, CA (full routing below).  Tickets go on sale in select cities beginning June 16, check your local venue for ticket purchase and on-sale info.

Speaking on Seeds We Sow, Buckingham says, “This might be the best work I’ve ever done. I think it’s an excellent representation of what I do. It shows a certain maturity and musicianship and I just feel like I have a lot of tools in my musical vocabulary from which to draw that are again the product of the choices I’ve made. It’s on my own terms. This is very much from the inside out and I hope I never stop doing that.”

From the album’s first single “In Our Own Time,” to the soft melodic pop/rock tinge of “End of Time” and the album’s most rocking track, “One Take,” to the touching “When She Comes Down” and the almost lullaby-esque hushed tones of the gorgeous closing number, “She Smiles Sweetly,” the album showcases Buckingham’s full arsenal of skills.  Just as his guitar style on Seeds We Sow is more mature and refined, so too are his lyrics, with one of the standout tracks being the hook-laden “Illumination.” “I think the lyrics over the years have actually gotten better because they’ve gotten a little, I don’t want to say obscure, but more poetic in the way they’re created,” he says, adding, “It’s a mysterious process even to me.”

ABOUT LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM
Palo Alto, CA native Lindsey Buckingham is best known for his work as guitarist, male vocalist and songwriter for Fleetwood Mac, a band that has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, won countless awards, sold out venues around the world, and helped define the sound of rock for the last three decades. Buckingham was the predominant musical force behind such Mac albums as Rumours and the innovative Tusk, and has created a critically acclaimed body of solo work that yielded the hits, “Trouble,” “Go Insane,” and “Holiday Road.” After moving to Los Angeles in 1973 with then girlfriend Stevie Nicks, the two were signed to Polydor Records and released the now cult favorite Buckingham Nicks album.  The two joined Fleetwood Mac on New Year’s Eve of 1974 and the band’s self-titled album was released in 1975.  The album was a hit, however, it did not compare to the success of 1977’s Rumors, led by the Buckingham-written single “Go Your Own Way,” which has gone on to become one of the best selling albums of all time (even re-appearing on the Billboard Top 40 in 2011 after the “Glee” episode paid tribute to the album). 1979’s critically acclaimed double-album, Tusk, famously cost the band over a million dollars to record and was followed by 1982’s Mirage and 1987’s Tango in the Night, also huge commercial successes for the band.  Buckingham’s first solo album, 1981’s Law and Order, produced the hit single “Trouble.” Buckingham’s subsequent solo albums, 1984’s Go Insane, 1992’s Out of the Cradle, 2006’s Under the Skin and 2008’s Live at the Bass Performance Hall and Gift of Screws have all earned critical acclaim.  He was recently honored with ASCAP’s Golden Note Award, and has also received The Les Paul Award.  For more information please log on to www.lindseybuckingham.com.

Rebirth Brass Band at Fox Theatre | 07.22.11

Z2 Entertainment is proud to present Rebirth Brass Band at the Fox Theatre on Friday, July 22nd. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 17th at 10:00am.

Hailed by the New York Times as “a New Orleans institution,” the Rebirth Brass Band have been at the forefront of the brass band revival that they helped kick off almost 30 years ago. Formed by the Frazier brothers, Phil and Keith, along with Basin Street labelmate Kermit Ruffins in 1983, The Rebirth Brass band has gone from playing on corners in the French Quarter to selling out concert halls across the world and appearing in David Simon’s HBO hit “Tremé.”

It’s been a long road, but The Rebirth Brass Band has become one of the most beloved brass bands in New Orleans and around the world.

Since their founding, they’ve developed a signature brand of heavy funk that they expand upon on their latest effort, Rebirth of New Orleans. Opener “Exactly Like You” starts the album off with a rollicking, Mardi Gras stomp. “The Dilemma” and “Do It Again” find the group locking in to a down-tempo, Latin-influenced grooves, anchored by Phil Frazier’s tuba. And “Shrimp and Gumbo” and Feelin’ Fine” find the band effortlessly perfecting the New Orleans-style brass lines that put the city on the map.

Rebirth Brass Band were featured in the opening scene of David Simon’s hit HBO show “Tremé” as well as on the GRAMMY® nominated soundtrack. No band exemplifies the essence and soul of New Orleans like Rebirth Brass Band.

The New Deal has decided that 2011 will mark the end of a spectacular 12-year career.

It has been an amazing run for the band and we appreciate the loyal and dedicated tND fanbase across North America and Asia. Our individual lives have taken very different paths with family, living abroad, and other various projects. We have come to a point where the time and commitment that it takes to maintain our band at its best is no longer possible. As a group, we’ve never been known to go halfway, so we have decided to end things with a great run of summer and fall shows that we hope to be the best yet.

Over the next several months, TND will return to the East Coast. The final Summer and Fall 2011 shows will bring us to many of our favorite places in the US and Canada, and we’re looking forward to finishing things off in a big way.

We look forward to each and every one of these very special shows. Our fans have been fantastically devoted and supportive, and we hope to give them a final run of performances that will be truly memorable.

In addition to the summer shows and festivals already announced, we expect to add a few more dates to give as many fans as possible the opportunity to see us play together one last time.
