Los Lonely Boys continue carving out their legend with 4th studio album

After proving themselves one of the most stunning and wonderful musical success stories of the last decade, Los Lonely Boys continue to carve out their legend with their fourth studio album, their first self-produced LP on their own LonelyTone/Playing In Traffic Records, Rockpango.
Supporting this newest release, Los Lonely Boys hit the road to share the utterly unique combination of blues, rock, soul, their Latino heritage and snippets of hip-hop found on Rockpango. For a preview of what to expect, check out the undeniably fun animated video for "16 Monkeys."
Since debuting in 2003 with a multi-chart gold single, selling millions of albums, winning a Grammy, racking up reams of critical praise, opening for the Rolling Stones and playing and recording with such legends as Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana, Rockpango further enforces All Music Guide's assertion that Los Lonely Boys are "one of America's premier rock bands."

Tea Leaf Green pays tribute to the Big Man at the Stone Pony

This past Sunday, Father’s Day, Tea Leaf Green performed at the fabled Stone Pony bar and frequent home of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in what became a tribute concert for legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons. Springsteen and Clemons met at the Asbury Park bar in 1971, a story both men have told onstage for the past 40 years. Clemons, 69, the “Big Man” in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, died Saturday night.

Fans who came to pay respects were given free admission to evening headliners Tea Leaf Green who showed love and admiration for Clemons. “It was an honor to pay tribute to ‘The Big Man’ at our last show on this leg of the tour,” said guitarist/vocalist Josh Clark. “We saw firsthand how much Asbury Park and the Stone Pony loved him. We listened to him play all day in the van on our way down there.”

Fellow band member Trevor Garrod added, “When we found out Clarence had died we where still a few hours from Asbury Park. It was a beautiful day; the sun was setting into a riot of crimson clouds; flowers and chalk drawings lined the sidewalk outside of the club. The Atlantic Ocean's waves rolled calmly in across the street. Though we where only coming through coincidentally, we nonetheless felt honored to be part of the celebration of this great musician's life. We couldn't help but feel that somehow the universe was encouraging us to keep up this tradition of rock 'n roll. After we played our set, I jumped into the moonlit sea with some kids who had come to watch the show. I couldn't help but wonder if, back in the day, Clarence had ever done the same. He will be missed.”

San Francisco Bay Area troubadours Tea Leaf Green are newfangled Lost Boys, a traveling gang dedicated to seeking wisdom and experience in places both glorious and seedy. The band’s summer tour kicks off on July 2 in Colorado on the heels of its seventh studio album, Radio Tragedy!, freshly released through Thirty Tigers.

In many ways, this quintet is the essence of rock’s adventurous, playfully outlaw spirit, all of which ultimately fuels songs that resonate with classic vibrations, open-ended possibilities and radio-ready charm. With Radio Tragedy!, Tea Leaf Green have made a record that’s both timely and timeless - a strange, beautiful space that they inhabit naturally and gracefully.

The Malah Spring & Summer Tour Dates

The three-headed livetronica force The Malah is hitting the road all summer. From club dates along the West Coast with Signal Path, to marquee sets at festivals across the Midwest and up the Atlantic, The Malah will be pushing their genre-defying brand of electronic exploration upon thousands of fans across the country. Known for their stimulating sets fusing the jam and rock aesthetic with electro, trance, and dubstep, The Malah uses the latest music technology to elevate their sound--at once seeming much bigger than a three piece, but having the deft maneuverability of a tight-knit group. Guitarist Brandon Maynard layers intricate melodies on top of the solid groove battery of bassist Elliott Vaughn and drummer Seth Fankhauser. All three move fluidly between the organic and synthetic, triggering samples and tackling complex synth runs. Between their stunning technical ability, and the visceral lighting design, fans are treated to a full-on sensory experience at each and every performance.

The Malah begins its summer run Memorial Day Weekend at Lightning in a Bottle. This eclectic and intimate festival in Silverado, CA has been known for its outlandish productions and act-breaking bills. Throughout June, The Malah will support Signal Path at a string of dates up and down the West Coast, from Oregon and Washington, to the southern tip of California in San Diego. Then it's off to the brand new electronic explosion of The Blastoff in Ohio, before STS9's Re:Generation, The Big Up, Rootwire, and Camp Barefoot. Girl Talk & Jim Jones Collaborate On "Believe In Magic"

In late February 2011, as Girl Talk was about to head out for his second month of touring in support of All Day, Pitchfork TV brought Girl Talk and Dipset’s Jim Jones together in Jones’ Nomad District Studio in New York for a special edition of their “Selector” series. Together, with Girl Talk producing a beat sampled from Honey Cone’s “Want Ads” and Jones freestyling over it, the two created a new track -- “Believe in Magic.” The results of the “Selector” taping exceeded all expectations and Jones was so pleased he took things one step further and invited R&B vocalist Lloyd to contribute, essentially making “Believe in Magic” the perfect summer jam. Watch “Believe In Magic” being made, and download Jim Jones ft. Lloyd and Girl Talk’s “Believe In Magic” below.

Great American Taxi summer festival blitz continues

Listen carefully to Reckless Habits, the second album from Great American Taxi, and you’ll hear a political edge to some of the music created by one of the best country-, rock- and bluegrass-influenced Americana bands in the land.  And the band is entirely comfortable bringing its danceable albeit politically-tinged songs to summer festivals.

“Woodie Guthrie was a huge influence for us and we truly believe in the power of song,” said Taxi front man Vince Herman in a recent interview.  Songs about hard luck times tend to “hold a man up and make him feel stronger than he is — and they make him feel good about his community. We want to address the issues appropriate to our times, while making music that gets people up and moving.”

Great American Taxi is at ease when it comes to touching upon a serious subject in a song. The New Millennium Blues, a track from the band’s latest album, Reckless Habits, is about the sad state of the U.S. economy.  “It’s about how we can’t afford our pickup trucks and how our jobs are all gone overseas,” said Herman.

But no one can accuse Taxi of crying the blues. Even Great American Taxi protest songs are generally up-beat, containing Cajun, calypso, and bluegrass melodies and a retro, ’70s feel — think the Grateful Dead, Wilco, and the Byrds.

“We like to get as much dancing going as possible,” said Herman, who enjoys experimenting with traditional Southern boogie and swampy blues-rock sounds.  Herman says of festival crowds, “People are at their best at festivals — maybe because they can get away from the rest of the world and feel like they’re on holiday.”

Taxi’s latest CD release Reckless Habits climbed to # 3 and remains in the top ten for spins on both the radio chart and the Colorado radio chart, complemented by two months in the top 25 on the Americana radio chart.

Great American Taxi’s latest video for the track “American Beauty” is here.

The band’s also recently donated a track, “Appalachian Soul” to raise awareness of the coal miners’ relief fund.
