The Sammies- for the Grateful Web

Sandwich, the sophomore effort from The Sammies, is set for release September 23 on MoRisen Records. The new release builds on the success of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut, which Pitchfork called "energetic and infectious." Plans for a tour in support of Sandwich will be announced soon.

Sandwich was recorded in Kernersville, NC at the Fidelitorium owned by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Pavement, Wilco). Produced by Ben Holst (Drive-By Truckers), Billy Bennett (Drive-By Truckers, The Whigs) and The Sammies, Sandwich expands upon the band's fusion of classic rock, early punk and indie rock. The album features 13 new songs including "Golden Sun," "In the Basement," "Treat Her Like a Queen," and "Old Grey."

Based in Charlotte, The Sammies are brothers Frank Backgammon (guitar, vocals) and Donnie Yale (drums, vocals), as well as Conrad Vacation (bass, vocals) and Bobby Freedom (guitar, keys, vocals). The band's 2006 self-titled debut album reached the Top 5 in four of CMJ's charts and secured track placements in the major motion pictures Employee of the Month and Happily Never After as well as television shows such as NBC's "Friday Night Lights" and "Las Vegas."
