The rumor mill is swirling with artist announcements around the corner. Powerhouse Vibes alumni include: The Allman Brothers, Crosby Stills & Nash, Furthur with Phil Lesh & Bob Weir, James Brown, The Black Crowes, and Damian Marley and Nas, alongside breakout acts like Umphrey’s McGee, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Jackie Greene, and tri-state favorites The McLovins. The Vibes also warmly embraces new, virtually unknown artists, who may submit music for consideration at GoVibes.com.

Gathering of the Vibes continues to thrive in challenging economic times, welcoming 30,000 fans, reuniting with their musical community and paying it forward. “Each year I am amazed at the spirit, the kindness that emanates from the Vibe Tribe,” commented Ken Hays, founder of the Vibes. “Our fans are dedicated, even at a time when concert ticket sales are down across the country, they continue to bring it.”

Fan support is not limited to ticket sales; it extends out to the Vibes’ many charitable causes. Last year’s charitable efforts raised $75,000 for an inner-city splash pad, and $25,000 for the families of fallen Bridgeport firefighters. The Vibes is a steward for the environment, demonstrating how to reduce carbon emissions, showcasing alternative energies, and returning the park to pristine condition in days after the event through progressive recycling initiatives. The Vibes continues to give back to the community by creating employment opportunities and offering reduced ticket prices for Bridgeport residents.

Lubriphonic to Tour SE With The New Mastersounds in April

Lubriphonic has announced it will hop aboard an April tour with The New Mastersounds for their Southeast run, culminating in a House of Blues performance during the peak of the epic New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. In celebration the group has offered a download of over 90 minutes of live recordings for free via its website.

Chicago’s Lubriphonic tight and raw sound is immediately familiar, fusing the roots of soul with explosive in-your-face delivery and sensuous R&B dance music.  The New Mastersounds is an instrumental four-piece British export offering a modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock delivering gritty grooves and deep rhythms.

Lubriphonic will open for The New Mastersounds on the following dates:

April 17 – Club 828 - Asheville, NC

April 18 - Blue 5 - Roanoke, Virginia

April 20 - Cat's Cradle - Carrboro, NC

April 21 - Pisgah Brewery - Black Mountain, NC

April 22 - Barley's Tap - Knoxville, TN

April 23 - Vanderbilt University - Alumni Lawn - Rites of Spring

April 24 - 412 Market - Chattanooga, TN

April 27 - Blazers Tavern - Valdosta, GA

April 28 - Engine Room - Tallahassee, FL

The Lubriphonic sound is full of precision orchestrations made up of blazing guitar work, unison three piece horn lines, soulful songwriting, bluesy vocals and the habit to cut the funk loose. The best description of the band’s sound comes from Relix Magazine: “Superb, adventurous, diverse, simply mesmerizing instrumental work. Steeped in soul, rock, pop, and blues Lubriphonic's members play with a tenacity and precision that sets them apart from equally proficient bands.”

In addition to the live sampler offering on its website, Lubriphonic is also offering free downloads of recordings of four additional shows to registered members of the website here.

Great American Taxi offering free track from new CD!

taxiGreat American Taxi, which features Leftover Salmon frontman Vince Herman is gearing up to release their sophomore effort "Reckless Habits." With the official release date yet to be announced Taxi has decided to offer up a free download of "Unpromised Land" (labeled as "Whiskey" on a lot of Taxi bootlegs from the past couple of years) from their latest studio work, which was recorded in December of 2008 and produced by Railroad Earth's Tim Carbone. The album also boasts guest appearances by Barry Sless on pedal steel for a good chunk of the record, Carbone on fiddle for a few tracks, Matt Flinner plays banjo on the aforementioned free download, the Black Swan Gospel Singers and the Peak to Freak Horns. Phil Nicolo, multi-grammy winning engineer and producer also lent his talents to the mix and mastering of the record at his fabled Studio 4. Needless to say Taxi has swung for the fence on this one and the result is nothing short of pure Americana bliss. Taxi will be playing 3 shows on the Front Range of Colorado this weekend to celebrate the forthcoming release and will be accompanied on stage by the Black Swan Singers and the Peak to Freak horns as well as some great support acts. Thursday March 19th finds the band at Hodi's Half Note in Fort Collins, Friday March 20th is at the Boulder Theater and Saturday the 21st is at the Bluebird Theater in Denver.
