Hangout Festival Announces 2011 Dates!

Hangout Music Festival has announced their 2nd annual festival will take place May 20th-22nd, 2011! Hangout is the first music festival of its kind with four stages on the white sandy beaches of Gulf Shore, Alabama. Festival goers stay in easy to walk or bike to condos and hotels.

The inaugural Hangout Beach Festival, May 14th-16th, 2010, featured a diverse lineup of over 50 bands and musicians including: Zac Brown Band, John Legend, Trey Anastasio, The Roots, Ben Harper and Relentless7, The Black Crows, Alison Kraus and Union Station, Gov't Mule, Ray Lamontagne, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Matisyahu, Girl Talk, etc. etc., all on stages located on some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

2011 promises to be bigger and better with never-before seen amenities and activities along with an exciting lineup yet to be announced.

The Roots Replace Flaming Lips at Hangout Beach Fest

Genre-crossing hip-hop band The Roots join the 2010 Hangout Beach Music and Arts Festival lineup.  The Roots, the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, are often hailed as one of the best live bands in hip-hop. When the festival learned that The Flaming Lips had cancelled a string of shows due to the hospitalization of guitarist Steven Drozd, The Roots stepped in to co-headline Alabama’s three-day beach party.

And for festival attendees who aren’t ready to call it a night after a full day of music, a late night show featuring Alex B, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), and Big Gigantic has been added for Friday, May 14.  Festival revelers looking to keep the party going will move from the white sands of Gulf Shores and into The Hangout Restaurant.  Tickets are $20 in advance/ $25 day of show, and are available through the festival website.

In March, the festival announced national headliners and Grammy winners Zac Brown Band and John Legend, plus Trey Anastasio & TAB, Ben Harper and Relentless7, The Black Crowes, Alison Krauss and Union Station feat. Jerry Douglas, Gov’t Mule and Ray LaMontagne.  For a complete artist listing, see below.

Tickets to The Hangout Beach Music and Arts Festival are available online as well as at The Hangout and Surf Style stores located along the central Gulf Coast. Ticket prices are $159 for a three-day pass.  Limited day tickets are available for $79.  VIP ticket packages and travel packages are still available starting at $500 and are available online or by phone at 1-888-512-SHOW.  A wide assortment of lodging options is available surrounding the festival including traditional hotels and beachfront condos to camping at the local state park.

On Nov. 17, Denver’s Ellie Caulkins Opera House was filled with the sweet songs of lost love, simplicity and addiction. The source of this therapeutic rapture was former shoe-factory worker turned folk phenomenon Ray LaMontagne. With a voice that harbors the kind of goosebumps and butterflies that first love brings, he captures the many emotions that coincide with the human condition.
