2011 Hoxeyville Music Festival | Manistee Forest

Nestled away in the Manistee National Forest in the northern part of the mitten lie the beautiful grounds that Hoxeyville Music Festival calls home. The ninth installment of the festival proved to be one of the most exciting and eclectic lineups to date.

Gathering of the Vibes Welcomes School of Rock

Gathering of the Vibes, the Northeast’s premier camping and music arts festival, is proud to announce a unique partnership with School Of Rock, the nation’s leading performance-based music school, promising to be the “must see” musical event of the summer, July 21-24, at Seaside Park, Bridgeport, CT.

Sonic Bloom Festival | Georgetown, CO | June '11

This past weekend, Shadows Ranch, a wooded valley flanked by two steep mountain sides a stones throw away from Georgetown, Colorado was transformed from a tranquil hidden gem of the Rockies into what can best be described as an energy center. On paper Sonic Bloom is a music festival, but in the flesh (so to speak) it is a platform for expression and a point of dissolution of the boundary between artist and audience.

My Morning Jacket Debut at #5 on Billboard Chart, Play Bonnaroo on Friday

My Morning Jacket’s new album, Circuital, debuted at #5 this week on the Billboard Albums chart with nearly 55,000 copies sold.  This is both the band’s highest first week of sales and their highest charting position ever.  It also landed at #1 at Indie Retail.

The band stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night, where they performed “Circuital.”  Clocking in at 6 minutes this was the longest performance by any artist to date on the show.  If you missed it, click HERE to watch My Morning Jacket play “You Wanna Freak Out,” which they played afterwards as a web exclusive.  The guys are also hitting Bonnaroo this weekend for a set at 8pm on Friday at the “What” stage, their first main stage appearance. Catch it live on VEVO!

Circuitalis the group’s first album recorded in their home base of Louisville, Kentucky.  It laid down almost entirely live to capture an honest spirit and human spontaneity throughout.  My Morning Jacket will kick off a full US tour in support of the album, including August dates with Neko Case, shortly after Bonnaroo.

Spring into Sound at Kimock's NYC Residency

Fresh off a sold-out run in California, Steve Kimock kicks off his NYC residency at Sullivan Hall this Wednesday, March 23rd. The weekly Wednesday performance runs through April 6th and features an array of special guest performers such as New Orleans legend Henry Butler, Marco Benevento, Adam Deitch, John Molo, Pete Sears, John Morgan Kimock, with other special and surprise guests. Regarded as a true "musician's musician," Kimock has been coined, "an unknown legend" in a recent CNN piece, and a master of his craft, it's no wonder that Jerry Garcia dubbed him one of his favorite unknown guitar players.

Kimock has gone out of his way to maintain an authentic relationship with his instrument and his sound. Many focus on music specifically, not dealing with sound as the main component. For Kimock, the sound is the reason that he plays and the music is the vessel. With excitingly stunning guitar explorations coupled with melodic mastery and remarkable improvisation, Kimock's distinctive ability to elevate sonically, creates indescribable moments of transcendence for his loyal audiences.

Blending genres from rock, jazz, blues, to middle-eastern and almost everything in between, Kimock has played with some "main" bands over the years, most notably Zero, KVHW, the Other Ones, and was part of the legendary Phil & Friends lineup in '99, a few incarnations of The Steve Kimock Band and most recently the electronica outfit PRAANG. With his keen ability to step onto any stage at any time, and constantly raise the bar with all sorts of bands through a wide-range of genres, Kimock's guitar playing is the stuff of legends.

The Sullivan Hall residency will kick off promptly at 9 PM for three consecutive Wednesday night performances beginning on March 23rd and will run through April 6th -- and in typical Kimock fashion, each night will have its own flavor, sure to bring some unexpected surprises.

Tickets $20 and available at www.kimock.com and http://www.sullivanhallnyc.com.

The band is scheduled to play both days of this year’s Life is good Festival in the Boston area alongside three stages of headliners, including Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, OK Go, Ben Harper & Relentless7 and many more.  All proceeds go to benefit The Life is good Kids Foundation whose mission is to provide support to kids who face life-threatening conditions such as the trauma of violence, poverty and loss.

The Giants’ kids album, Here Comes Science, released in September 2009, has received praise across the board for its unique and exciting fusion of rock, education and humor. THE MAIN DRAG's "Dove Nets"

The Boston-based band, The Main Drag, make sophisticated and infectious indie-pop using music production as an instrument, cleverly stacking harmonies, synthesizers, guitars, strings, horns and drums within accessible songs. THE MAIN DRAG will release their third effort YOU ARE UNDERWATER digitally on December 8 via their imprint RPL Audio. Their rapidly growing fanbase was bolstered by the inclusion in the hugely successful video game Rock Band 2 and they’ll also participate in the Rock Band Network--a new initiative launching in early 2010 that allows independent acts to sell their music to the Rock Band fanbase. In addition to the success via Rockband, they were named “Best Unsigned Artist” by Salon.com in 2007; garnered airplay and praise in key markets across the US and in Europe; had track “Love During Wartime” featured in the February issue of Paste Magazine; and released a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “All My Friends” exclusively to the Coke Machine Glow “Fantasy Covers” series to rave reviews.

Check out The Main Drag's new video:  The video mixes animation + real actors while wavering between surrealism + psychedelia. It even comes with a coinciding web-based video game! Check out both the video and game here.
