Live At The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Phil Lesh’s Birthday

It was another jam-packed night outside the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. You would have thought you were seeing Furthur on New Year’s Eve 2009 all over again. It was just about impossible to get into line outside the arena as there were so many people walking up and down the cordons with their pointer fingers in the air hoping for some miracle ticket to gain entry into Dead Heads kingdom; a Furthur show.

Furthur: Weir, Lesh, Chimenti & Kadlecik

johnAnnouncing More Tour Dates...

After some mountain air and pacific sun on the Rex Caravan Tour the band will take a few weeks off before returning to East Coast for an extensive tour. We are excited to revisit some of our favorite east coast haunts this fall. Check out DSO at the tour kick-off at the Palace Theatre in Albany, feel the brotherly love in Philly, celebrate DSO's 12th Anniversary in Hagerstown, wave that flag in DC, return to the scene of the crime in Ithaca or hit the big apple for two nights at the Nokia Theatre. The bus will be laying rubber all over the east coast and we hope you can come along for the ride!

All Good Music Festival Recap

At the All Good Music Festival held this past weekend in Masontown WV, the motto by which attendees live by is also the name.  How convenient.  Despite the mantra that anything goes, the festival has been noted as one of the better organized, least problematic, and most entertaining of the summer.

Phil Lesh & Friends Added to the 10KLF

Phil Lesh & Friends joins an already jam-packed lineup of artists for a headlining performance at the 4th Annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) July 19-22, 2006 at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.

The perfect addition to 10KLF's rich musical diversity, former Grateful Dead bassist and his band, Phil Lesh & Friends, perform on the Main Stage Friday, July 21, joining festival headliners Trey Anastasio on July 22 and The String Cheese Incident on July 20.

Drawing from a pool full of talented national, regional, and emerging acts, the 10,000 Lakes Festival seeks to be the nation's premier music and camping festival destination. Enjoying the scene's top performers within the stunning natural beauty of clear lakes and spacious, wooded campgrounds provides all attendees an unparalleled festival experience.

Recent artist additions to the 10,000 Lakes Festival include:
• Phil Lesh & Friends
• The Everyone Orchestra
• Railroad Earth
• Garaj Mahal
• Shooter Jennings and more

The 10,000 Lakes Festival's line-up includes Trey Anastasio, The String Cheese Incident, Keller Williams Incident (performing with The String Cheese Incident), O.A.R. (...Of A Revolution); Keller Williams (solo), Umphrey's McGee, The Benevento/Russo Duo featuring Mike Gordon, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, and Hot Buttered Rum.

Additional acts include Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Tea Leaf Green, Wood Brothers, WookieFoot, The Big Wu, The Mutaytor, Fat Maw Rooney, New Primitives, Freshwater Collins, Benzos, Green Lemon, Down Lo, White Iron Band, GypsyFoot, Trampled By Turtles, Backyard Tire Fire, Moses Mayes, Hooch, and Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. The full lineup is available at www.10klf.com.

Independent and unsigned bands now have the opportunity to perform at the festival through the 'Cosmic Break' competition. The 10KLF Cosmic Break Tour showcases emerging artists through a series of regional events during April and May. One band from each city's event moves on to perform at the 10,000 Lakes Festival. Thirteen bands will receive a paid performance slot at 10KLF and prize packages, including a potential endorsement from D'Addario Strings and Evans Drumheads. Interested artists may apply and get more information at www.CosmicBreakTour.com.

The 10,000 Lakes Festival community comes together once a year to celebrate great music in an enchanting natural setting within a participatory, dynamic festival environment. In 2005, the Minneapolis Star Tribune admired that the 10,000 Lakes Festival was "filled with thousands of good vibes." Jambase.com calls 10KLF "old from the North Country." The Star Tribune continues "Even the musicians are impressed by the fest site." Backstage at 10KLF, Jon Bell, singer/guitarist with Widespread Panic told the Tribune "There's room to move and lots of friendliness and not too crazy. It's a very open vibe. You can't create that."

Dotting the spacious festival and camp grounds are four stages showcasing the 40+ bands performing on the Barn Stage, a shady hill overlooking the concert bowl; the open air Field Stage; the Saloon Stage for intimate concerts and late night jams; and the Main Stage where everyone gathers in the evening for the headliners' concerts featuring Phil Lesh & Friends, Trey Anastasio, The String Cheese Incident and more.

Phil Lesh Joins Railroad Earth in San Francisco

Phil Lesh joins Railroad Earth in San Fran- for the Grateful Web

On Saturday, April 16, at the second of Railroad Earth's two sold-out shows at the Independent in San Francisco, Phil Lesh joined the band for a generous portion of their second set.

Phil Lesh provided vocals and his trademark bass playing to Railroad Earth's "Seven Story Mountain," followed by a three-pack of Grateful Dead staples; "Friend of the Devil," "Terrapin Station," and "Going Down the Road Feelin' Bad," the last of which also featured Vince Herman on accompanying vocals.

This is not the first musical collaboration between Railroad Earth and Phil Lesh.  Members of the New Jersey-based band joined Phil Lesh and Friends at their last two San Francisco outings.

Railroad Earth is currently on tour.  For more information, check out www.railroadearth.com
