BAND OF SKULLS ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES

Southhampton, UK trio Band of Skulls are taking some time out from finishing up their second album to play select tour dates in North America. They will be performing new songs at these shows along with favorites from their debut album album 'Baby Darling Doll Face Honey.'

After spending two years touring in support of their debut album which was universally embraced by the U.S. press including SPIN (Best of Coachella), Rolling Stone (Best of SXSW) and Entertainment Weekly (Your Next Favorite Band) and culminated with a sold-out show at the Forum in London in late 2010, the band retreated to a studio in Norfolk UK to begin writing the follow-up. They returned to their home studio in Southampton to start the recording which they are now completing in Wales at Rockfield Studios. The album is produced by Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Badly Drawn Boy) and will be mixed by Nick Launay (Grinderman, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire) and is scheduled for release in 2012. The album will be preceded by a single and EP released in late 2011.

Ellie Goulding To Release "An Introduction To Ellie Goulding"

Already a success in her native England, 23 year-old UK singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding is scheduled to make her stateside debut with her US debut EP, An Introduction To Ellie Goulding out September 21 on Cherrytree / Interscope. Produced by Starsmith, Goulding’s full length release Lights shot to #1 on the UK chart in March 2010. The focus track, "Starry Eyed" has already received over 10 million views on YouTube.
Ellie has received numerous accolades from her motherland in the form of The Critics Choice Award at the 2010 Brit Awards & topped the BBC sound of 2010 poll.  Goulding’s debut CD has garnered much critical praise. NME calls Lights, “never less than stunning…it marks the emergence of a smart, sincere and talented new pop star,” and Q declares, “There is undeniable greatness afoot here.” After early support slots with Little Boots and Passion Pit, Ellie has just sold out her third UK headline tour. UK festival performances-- Glastonbury, Festival, V Festival, Lovebox and T in the Park--earned her rave reviews.
Described as “electro-folk-acoustic-pop,” Ellie’s songs mix heartfelt emotion with other-worldly atmospherics, spinning electronica into dreamy warmth. If you see her live, you can expect to see her play guitar and drums. Goulding, who will make her maiden voyage to the US in support of An Introduction To Ellie Goulding, is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles at The Roxy on September 28th and in New York on September 30th at Hiro Ballroom. In 2011 Ellie will return stateside to support a special version of her US full length release of Lights.

Shy Blakeman To Release LONG DISTANCE MAN

Shy Blakeman, the Texas singer-songwriter with a colorful past and engaging character who was first introduced to audiences during the 2006 season of “Nashville Star,” is scheduled to release his third album LONG DISTANCE MAN today.

Influenced by the eclectic southern mixture representative of The Black Crowes, Waylon Jennings and Ray Charles, Blakeman succeeds in his efforts to break ground on a new sound by melding genres into an album that is equally pleasurable and viably commercial. This new venture allows the listener to go along for a ride with the “Long Distance Man” as he musically meanders through songs that cross the plains of Texas country at “Quarter to Three,” hears the blues and tastes the “Swamp Water Whisky” of Baton Rouge, dances all night in a few of the “So Many Honky Tonks” that decorate the true country landscape, and establishes roots at the Americana homestead that is “Dragon Fly.”

Produced by Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings) and Executively Produced by Warren Izard, the album also features a bevy of world class players who have graciously lent their time and talent to support the new project. Artists of note include Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), Audley Freed (The Black Crowes, Cry Love, Peter Frampton), Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams, Jewel), Kenny Vaughn (Steve Earle, Marty Stuart, Rodney Crowell), Michael Webb (John Fogerty), Jason Sutter (Chris Cornell), Ron Dziubla (Royal Crown Reveue, Ricky Martin), and Gia Ciambotti (Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt).

The rollicking title track was released to radio on February 23, 2010 and early commendations for the album are already rolling in. “I’ve been drowning in a sea of cookie-cutter music. Thank you Shy Blakeman for throwing me a life preserver [with] LONG DISTANCE MAN,” says Kelley Peterson of KHKX/KMCM/KQRX in Odessa, Texas.

Blakeman will be promoting his new album today during a performance at the Kinetic Entertainment "The Early Bird Gets The Music" showcase at Annie’s West, 706 W. 6th St. Austin, Texas. He has also been invited to perform for the CMT Awards after-party in Nashville, Tenn. Scheduled for June 9, 2010, this unofficial wrap-up to the CMA Music Fest activities will be hosted by Cowboy Troy, the 2006 and 2007 co-host of “Nashville Star.”

Umphrey's McGee on Rock Band Network

Umphrey's McGee will be among the first group of bands to offer songs at the just-launched (beta testing period) Rock Band Network.

The much buzzed-about video game platform works with Xbox video game systems to allow bands to Xbox users, and to offer fans a way dig into their favorite band’s music in ways they have never been able to before.

Umphrey’s McGee has been working with former Harmonix Music Systems employee – and now “Rock Band” freelancer - Andrew Buch. An alumn of Berklee College of Music, Buch has author several Umphrey’s McGee songs for the new program, including “1348” and “Miss Tinkles Overture." These songs and others will be made available within the next few months - when the first wave of the Rock Band Network releases are scheduled to hit upon the release of the new Xbox 360 system.

Buch, whose video/music “claims-to-fame” include the underground release of his mind-numbingly difficult "Trippolette" in the original Guitar Hero, has worked on several games in the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises, making him a likely choice to prepare the music of Umphrey's McGee for the game. Additional work by Buch can be found at http://www.andrewbuch.com, including video footage of both Umphrey's McGee's music and the Rock Band network re-release of "Trippolette."

Umphrey’s McGee’s participation in the Rock Band network is one of many ways this band continues to prove themselves truly a band of the 21st century. The band’s innovative, interactive Stew Art Series (S2) has been hailed as a ground-breaking fan experience. Hosted as individual events before that evening’s already scheduled show, Umphrey’s Stew Art Series is a crowd-sourced improvisation experiment, in which all the music performed by the group on stage are entirely directed by S2 audience members. Check out this S2 video from the inaugural S2 event in Milwaukee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYJn64XRGXU.

Look for Umphrey’s McGee on tour now.
