Big Head Todd and The Monsters' new album, Rocksteady, hits streets today

Big Head Todd and The Monsters release their brand new studio album, Rocksteady, today (July 20, 2010/Big Records). As the Denver Post reported in a recent feature story, Rocksteady finds the platinum selling artists “centered and rejuvenated” and moving the BHTM legacy forward. The album’s first single, the infectious “Beautiful” has already reached the Top 20 on Triple A radio charts, and it’s still climbing. Check out a video teaser here.

In support of Rocksteady, Big Head Todd and The Monsters hit the road for a sprawling summer tour, including a recent big play at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where they celebrated the 20th anniversary of Midnight Radio by performing the album in its entirety, and a headlining performance at WXPN’s XPoNential Music Festival.

For Rocksteady, Big Head Todd and The Monsters’ eighth studio album, the band draws on a surprising body of influences. The album cuts across a broad swath of stylistic terrain including R&B, reggae and even punk rock. Throughout, the collection’s 11 tracks are funky, lilting, and melodic - all the qualities that have become signature to the band's sound during their 25 years of making music.

“It’s a soul/Caribbean record that rocks,” frontman Todd Park Mohr says. “We almost went out of our way to take all the rock out of it, but it really rocks. It’s the very first album we’ve ever done that’s cohesive. It makes a difference, in terms of this album standing out from our other albums.”

The Disco Biscuits Unveil "On Time" Video

The Disco Biscuits have just released video for “On Time,” a breezy and infectious electro-pop anthem from their latest album, Planet Anthem. This new video, which made its debut  on MTV2 and MTU, was directed by Noah Rappaport and Ghost Town Media. It follows the sexual escapades of a skinny disco robot on a wild night on the town.Planet Anthem, which was released on March 16th, debuted at #140 on the Billboard Top 200 and #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.

On the new album, The Disco Biscuits break out of the jam band-meets-electronica sound they have been known for.  This time around, they’ve opted for danceable pop and rock grooves, plus a touch of hip hop thanks to collaborating with producers Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry (Ludacris, Chris Brown, Beanie Sigel).

The Disco Biscuits also recently announced the lineup for the two annual festivals they put on.  Bisco Inferno will take place on May 29th at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO.   In addiction to the Biscuits, headliners include The Glitch Mob and The Crystal Method.  Camp Bisco 9, the band’s ninth annual three-day music and arts festival, will be held in Mariaville, New York from July 15-17th. The Disco Biscuits will perform all three nights, and other headliners include LCD Soundsystem, Ween, Girl Talk, and Major Lazer. Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers on U.S. Tour

Hugh Cornwell returns to the US after a successful sold out UK tour at 02 Academy venues. He is a man with equal parts grit and wit.  He has been an acclaimed writer and live performer since his time as the primary songwriter, singer, and guitarist of punk and new wave legends The Stranglers.  His recently released eighth album, Hooverdam, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Liam Watson (White Stripes - ‘Elephant’) is an eloquent and exciting mix of rhythm & blues, rock and post-punk.  Hugh will also cross the Atlantic this Spring and treat his US fans to his fiery live show.

Though he may be one of the UK’s finest talents, Hugh’s music has always reached far beyond his homeland.  Fittingly, Hooverdam is now available worldwide from his website, which can be viewed in twelve languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Mandarin, Turkish, Italian and Japanese).  The album is available as a free download and can also be purchased on vinyl and as a triple-sleeved digi-pak, featuring both CD album and live studio performance DVD ‘Blueprint’ in one package.

The upcoming US tour includes a performance in San Francisco as part of the Jay Siegan Presents “In The Name Of Love”, a series of concerts to raise money for the Haiti relief effort.  Hugh will be playing along with special guest Kristeen Young at San Francisco’s Red Devil Lounge on March 31st. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders for the victims of Haiti.
