Live PHISH Stream Lake Tahoe Webcast

Come see the live webcast of Phish's sold-out August 10th show at Harvey's Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena in Lake Tahoe on the Boulder Theater big screen.

The WaterWheel Foundation chooses non-profits from a large sphere of needs including social services, primarily those benefiting women and children; environmental, with a focus on clean water and land conservation; as well as food banks, urban gardening and the like. To date, WaterWheel has donated over $550,000 to more than 325 groups.

The WaterWheel Foundation was created by Phish in 1997 to oversee the band's various charitable activities.

From its debut through the current tour, the primary mission WaterWheel's Touring Division has been to raise funds for a pre-selected non-profit in each community that Phish visits while on tour. The net proceeds raised at each show - fan donations plus the sale of WaterWheel logo merchandise and items autographed by the band - are donated to the organization tabling at the show, after deducting overhead costs.

Lunch with Jon Fishman!

The Mimi Fishman Foundation announces two donations were issued April 29 to the Tuscaloosa, AL area to help the tornado victims. The Foundation donated $2,500 to Hands On Birmingham’s Disaster Relief program and $2,500 to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society’s Disaster Response program.

In addition the Foundation recently hosted a pair of auctions that raised over $6,600 for Rock The Earth and over $5,100 for Phish’s WaterWheel Foundation.

The Foundation also just launched a new charity auction that predominantly features items donated by Phish. Two items are certain to generate quite a bit of interest, one of which includes joining Phish drummer Jon Fishman for lunch, the other is the actual black kick drumhead – with Phish logo – and signed by all members of Phish. In addition the auction features signed drumsticks and drumheads used during Phish 2010 shows.

The on-line auction is currently live with the bidding coming to close on Tuesday, May 24.

To view and/or bid on the auction, as well as read about the charities the auction supports, please visit the Mimi Fishman Foundation Auction Page.

Ronnie James Dio & Elephant Art Conservation Project

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund has teamed with The Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project (AEACP) to create one-of-a-kind guitars painted by the project's elephants in Thailand to raise money and awareness for both organizations. Wendy Dio, president and founder of Stand Up & Shout, board chair Gloria Butler and medical director Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, along with legendary Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell bassist Geezer Butler and world-renowned photographer Mark Weiss, are currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand, home to the AEACP, where the guitars are being painted.

The talented elephants of the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project, whose paintings are now exhibited and sold in museums and galleries around the world and have been featured in National Geographic, are painting guitars graciously donated by The ESP Guitar Company.  These painted guitars will be auctioned off with half of the proceeds going to AEACP and the other half going to SUAS.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is a privately funded nonprofit organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education. It was founded in memory of the late singer who died in 2010. The organization is collecting additional guitars donated by celebrated musicians for a larger fund-raising auction later this year.

The AEACP is dedicated to saving the diminishing number of Asian Elephants and to raise public awareness of the plight of Asian Elephants. National Thai Elephant Day annually celebrates the importance of elephants a part of Thai culture and as part of their environment. Currently, there are between 3,000 and 4,000 elephants living in Thailand, half of which are domesticated.

Umphrey's McGee Collaborates with Patagonia for Environment

Patagonia Inc., the environmentally minded apparel company, and some of music’s most talented artists, including Umphrey’s McGee have come together to form the Patagonia Music Collective. The Patagonia Music Collective will launch Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at www.patagonia.com/music.

The collective brings together musicians, fans and grassroots environmental groups to raise funds for environmental causes. Artists, such as Umphrey’s McGee, have donated unreleased tracks that will be sold for $.99 with net proceeds going directly to the artist’s favorite environmental group. Visit www.patagonia.com/music for details.

Umphrey’s McGee has donated, “Hajimemashite”, a previously unreleased track, to benefit Climate Cycle.

“Patagonia is honored to have Umphrey’s McGee as a part of the Patagonia Music Collective,” notes Rob BonDurant, Patagonia’s VP of Marketing, “We’ve been stunned at the graciousness of artists like Umphrey’s McGee who so readily jumped at the chance to introduce their fans to an enviro cause they support. We’re so hopeful that fans will not only purchase this track, but learn about the work Climate Cycle is doing.”

The tracks will be available at www.patagonia.com/music, through a dedicated iPhone® app and a web widget player on participating artist’s websites. Fulfillment will be handled by iTunes®.

Patagonia views the “collective” as a new model for green giving, as well as a way to engage a non-Patagonia demographic in environmental activism. The Patagonia Music Collective will launch with 24 tracks with additional tracks released each subsequent week from established acts and emerging artists. Exclusive compilation records and more will be available at varying intervals at Patagonia stores worldwide.

Other musicians on board thus far include Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt and Jon Cleary, Maroon 5, Philip Glass, Zac Brown Band, moe., the Bad Plus, Blitzen Trapper, Mason Jennings, John Scofield, Piers Faccini, Switchfoot, Brett Dennen, Ky-Mani Marley, Sun Kil Moon, Ben Solee, Ra Ra Riot, Spoek Mathambo, Taj Mahal, Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Drive-By Truckers, Bobby Long, The String Cheese Incident, Ki: Theory, Moondoggies, Vusi Mahlesela, Disco Biscuits, O.A.R., Ziggy Marley, Los Lobos, Dawes, Abigail Washburn, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Brandi Carlile and many more.

The Patagonia MusicTM Collective is not a record label. Artists are simply donating tracks for a sustainable music initiative that benefits the environment. Patagonia is providing a platform for artists to participate in a larger effort to increase awareness of both the enviro groups and causes artists would like to support and the music/artists associated with Patagonia Music.

Adam Green: Debut Art Exhibition 'Teen Tech' At New York's Morrison Hotel

Folk-rock troubadour Adam Green's debut art show, Teen Tech, will open at the Morrison Hotel Gallery Bowery (313 Bowery, former home to the famed CBGB's gallery) in his hometown of New York, NY, on April 22nd. Following a private opening night party, the exhibition will be available to the public April 23rd and 24th. Teen Tech showcases another artistic side of singer/songwriter Green, already known for his prolific (six albums in eight years) career as a solo musician and for his work as half of the band Moldy Peaches. Last year, he composed the soundtrack for a German theatrical adaptation of Paul Auster's novel Timbuktu, which he titled Musik For A Play. Fat Possum Records released Green's most recent solo album, Minor Love, in February.

The exhibition will consist of original works by Green: 12 sculptures of plaster, papier-mâché, or papier-mâché and mixed materials; 18 large-scale (30" x 40") acrylic or watercolor paintings; 19 drawings; and 20 collages (created together with model Cory Kennedy). The art will be for sale and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charitable organization Artists for Peace and Justice, which directs 100% of all funds raised towards rebuilding and maintaining long-term sustainability in Haiti. Friend and peer Binki Shapiro of Little Joy introduced Green to the organization when he donated a hand-designed t-shirt for her recent, highly successful Crafts For A Cause online auction that donated all proceeds to Artists for Peace and Justice. Green and Shapiro decided to work together again here in an effort to continue giving. Following the show's close, any remaining pieces will be available here.

Green says of the exhibition, "Teen Tech is an art show I've prepared over the last year and a half. Perhaps because I'm an entertainer in showbiz, I found myself trying to make this art show more entertaining than average. It focuses on cartoon subjects. I don't often read comics but I've always liked to draw cartoons. I contend that all artists work in caricature. The pieces in Teen Tech are caricatures of cartoons, which I feel distill the subjects down to their bare essence."

Teen Tech coincides with Green's two-night, hometown headlining stand at the Bowery Ballroom. These two gigs, April 23rd and 24th, will be the final of his current U.S. tour in support of Minor Love. The album has earned Green plenty of praise, with BlackBook writing, "...the real genius of Minor Love isn't the album's embrace of disparate genres (although that's impressive, too), it's how charming and easy Green makes all this variety sound" and Filter adding, "...Green revels in a stripped-down, bittersweet world where nothing lasts forever, with both his baritone and lyrics adding freshness to his fatalist outlook." Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers on U.S. Tour

Hugh Cornwell returns to the US after a successful sold out UK tour at 02 Academy venues. He is a man with equal parts grit and wit.  He has been an acclaimed writer and live performer since his time as the primary songwriter, singer, and guitarist of punk and new wave legends The Stranglers.  His recently released eighth album, Hooverdam, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Liam Watson (White Stripes - ‘Elephant’) is an eloquent and exciting mix of rhythm & blues, rock and post-punk.  Hugh will also cross the Atlantic this Spring and treat his US fans to his fiery live show.

Though he may be one of the UK’s finest talents, Hugh’s music has always reached far beyond his homeland.  Fittingly, Hooverdam is now available worldwide from his website, which can be viewed in twelve languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Mandarin, Turkish, Italian and Japanese).  The album is available as a free download and can also be purchased on vinyl and as a triple-sleeved digi-pak, featuring both CD album and live studio performance DVD ‘Blueprint’ in one package.

The upcoming US tour includes a performance in San Francisco as part of the Jay Siegan Presents “In The Name Of Love”, a series of concerts to raise money for the Haiti relief effort.  Hugh will be playing along with special guest Kristeen Young at San Francisco’s Red Devil Lounge on March 31st. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders for the victims of Haiti.
