Spring & Summer 2011 Steal Your Face Shows

Dynamic psychedelic jams, deep-funk grooves, tight emotional vocals, a little space and enough rocket fuel to get there and back - STEAL YOUR FACE is a high-energy band.  Born from the Spirit of Jerry Garcia, Steal Your Face blends thought provoking original music with the vast library of the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and other Classics.  Each Steal Your Face show is a unique experience, audiences are captivated as they and the band push each other to new heights and make music together. Five musicians with impressive chops who are constantly intertwining with each other and the audience,  Steal Your Face has a fresh sound that has the Woodstock generation reminiscing, the Bonnaroo kids screaming for more and everyone dancing.

BOOMBOX CONTINUES ‘DOWNRIVERELECTRIC’ TOUR IN COLORADO

After a completely sold out Colorado tour in early 2010 with return trips this past summer to play the Mile High Music Festival and to close out the Westword Music Showcase, BoomBox returns for 7 dates with Sub Swara and their genre-bending bass music from Brooklyn, NY. These dates are sure to sell out quickly and all tickets are on sale now.

You can currently catch BoomBox on the East Coast leg of their ‘downriverelectric’ tour with stops in the mid-west before they make it to Colorado.

BoomBox, born out of legendary Muscle Shoals, AL features Producer/Engineer/DJ/Drummer Russ Randolph and Producer/DJ/Vocalist/Guitarist Zion Rock Godchaux. This pair of dynamic artists uses their rich musical history, inspiring vision and pop culture influences to deliver a style of music distinctly different from anything heard in the live music scene today. Their signature sound and high-energy shows bring live music to a new, elevated level.

BoomBox released their sophomore album, downriverelectric (available on iTunes) on June 30, 2010 using analog recording sessions and some of the same vintage gear as their Muscle Shoals predecessors. The album, with over 5000 units moved via their website in the first month, pays homage to the musical memoirs of Muscle Shoals’ past and to the rhythm of the Tennessee River, which has long inspired the group. From brand new cuts such as Dungeons and Watergun to live fan favorites Headchange and Mr. Boogie Man, the album deliberately weaves a variety of dance frenzy beats filled with catchy songwriting and soul shuttering low end.

Sub Swara creates, constructs, produces and plays genre-bending bass music that parallels the diversity of their hometown of Brooklyn, NY. Consisting of Dhruva Ganesan and Dave Sharma, Sub Swara’s musical genome brings together a wide assortment of DNA – from dub to hip-hop, dancehall to punk rock, and all the global sounds in between.

You can watch the band’s fresh video for “Fed Up". “Our motto in the studio was, ‘If it ain’t broke, break it,’” explains frontman Adam Krier about recording We Don’t Stand A Chance. “We’d try things from every possible angle.”Recorded in Austin TX, AM Taxi’s polished first record features influences ranging from The Clash to Sublime to The Boss mixed with the group’s own contemporary punk-rock infusions and was produced by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin, Alberta Cross).
“We weren’t so interested in making a record that sounded current, as we were something that could be classic,” Krier says.

Chris Massey's The Nue Jazz Project Upcoming Appearances

Chris Massey is following his ambition of making a name for himself as a new breed of young talented player in the world of jazz. Growing up in small town Uniontown, Ohio where he picked up his first pair of drumsticks a the age of 9 he took his first steps into his musical career as a Jazz Performance major at Youngstown State University in 2000.

Among performing with such modern legends such as Donald Harrison Jr., Joe Lovano, Dave Holland and members of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra Chris is also an accomplished composer and arranger. Gaining inspiration from notable drummer-composers such as Brian Blade and Jeff "Tain" Watts; Chris has began composing his first works in early 2001. Chris also has been teaching lessons of all age varieties from the skill ranges of beginner to advanced college for over a decade.

Chris above all else is a modern drummer taught in the old tradition of swing; his ethos is to "put his sound" underneath a player and let the fire start to spread. He is currently residing in the New York City area and performing with/leading his modern jazz group "The Nue Jazz Project". He has performed in many venues across the city such as Smoke, Cleopatra's Needle, Smalls, Fat Cat, 55bar, The Garage, The Iridium and many others.
