SONIC BLOOM Announces Over 75 Artists on 2 Stages

SONIC BLOOM has announced the final line-up for the 2011 festival including 2 full stages of music and a satellite DJ booth highlighting over 75 of the nation’s best nationally touring and up-and-coming electronic performers. For the last six years the boutique festival has served as a launchpad for some of the most successful electronic artists on the scene including Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, the Glitch Mob and consummate tour dogs, EOTO.  The event, scheduled to take place for three days between June 24-26th will feature yet another stellar line-up including festival regulars EOTO, the highly sought TIPPER SOUND EXPERIENCE and one of the pioneers of Dubstep; Mala from London.

In less than two weeks SONIC BLOOM 2011 will commence in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains just 40 minutes west of Denver in the outskirts of the historical mining town, Georgetown, CO. The annual event, now in its 6th year, culminates nightly with a myriad of visual performers including aerialists, fire dancers and stilt walkers as well as live painters, artisans and vending booths featuring a hand selection of unusual crafts and fashion geared to serve the natural health communities. Festival goers can choose from daily workshops in yoga, spirituality and even unified field theory as well as the unprecedented musical line-up scheduled for each day of the celebration.

This year SONIC BLOOM also boasts two different soundsystems developed to nurture low frequency bass and accentuate the subtle sounds known for setting this style of music apart from other dance genres. The main stage will flaunt the famous Ambisonic surround Sound System from FunktionOne, which has won numerous international awards and has amplified such luminaries as Pink Floyd. The CoDome stage will be hosted by local dubstep promoters sub.mission and be powered by local favorite Basscouch and their 50,000 watts of powerful ‘bass to your face’and will feature a handful of local artists and a selection of DJ’s who’ve won their slot on stage through on-line voting.

For festival goers looking to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings, the new SONIC BLOOM campsite has on-site shaded camping next to Clear Creek, fire-pit areas and even river rafting expeditions offered daily through Mile Hi Rafting. The folks from the Basics Fund are also offering discounted party bus options for riders coming from Fort Collins, Boulder and Denver as a safe alternative to driving.

With so many opportunities, it’s no wonder that this year’s event is showing record ticket sales. All attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance on the event website at www.sonicbloomfestival.com and at www.facebook.com/sonicbloomfestival. RV’s will not be allowed in the festival grounds and on-site parking tickets will be an additional $20 per vehicle. Please Carpool!

As always, SONIC BLOOM supports local non-profit Conscious Alliance in their mission to feed those in need. Bring 10 food items and receive a free SONIC BLOOM event poster from artist Ryan Johnson.

THE BRIDGE Announce 'National Bohemian' & Tour Dates

The Bridge will release their fifth studio album National Bohemian on February 1, 2011 through Woodberry Records/Thirty Tigers. For its latest effort, the Baltimore-based six-piece enlisted Grammy Award-winning producer and Los Lobos multi-instrumentalist Steve Berlin to join the band behind the boards. Ranging from the sonically dense, voodoo-tinged rock of "Sanctuary" to the modern day murder ballad "Moonlight Mission," the 11-track collection is shaped by the dynamics that distinguish the band's two principle songwriters Cris Jacobs and Kenny Liner. Jacobs delivers Dixie-drenched southern soul, while Liner's approach is steeped in swaggering American roots music. As a preview to the recording, The Bridge is offering a free download of "Moonlight Mission" at their website.

Plans are set for The Bridge to tour throughout 2011 in support of National Bohemian. They'll kick off the year sharing a three-night co-bill with Trombone Shorty that includes New Year's Eve at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. The band will then celebrate the album's release by headlining a hometown record release party at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore on January 29. In February, The Bridge will head out for a string of dates across the east coast with Tea Leaf Green before traveling to the midwest to support Galactic. The March leg includes the band's first headline show at Cervante's Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO.

Bop Skizzum's New EP "Push" Now Available

Looking for a new album that inspires you to get up and get down? The 2010 Bop Skizzum release Push is now available on-line and ready for mass consumption. This short and sweet EP is pumping with ballsy rock adrenaline, singable hooks and danceable beats. It's a tasty cocktail of musical mojo that somehow manages to be both squeaky clean and grimy, laced with an addictive honey-pop sensibility that will cause it to linger in your rotation and make you crave more of what this delicious funk trio is dishing out.

Since it's founding more than ten years ago Bop Skizzum has always taken pleasure in concocting songs that enable you to blow off some steam by getting on the floor and burning it up. Screaming horn lines, block-rocking beats, and lyrics squarely stamped with Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" seal of approval all point to one thing: Bop Skizzum's mission is to make you dance.

Comprised of Andy "ROK" Guerrero, Serafin Sanchez, Erin Jo Harris, and a rotating cast of the best musicians known to science, Bop Skizzum is all about making booty-shaking music in accordance with the founding fathers and mothers of funk. From the sweat-inducing grooves of James Brown and Sly and the Family Stone, the visionary jazz-soaked R&B of Stevie Wonder, the explosive pop of Prince and Michael Jackson, to the modern retro soul of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Janelle Monáe. Bop Skizzum is following in these big footsteps to get your motor running any and every way it knows how.

Bop Skizzum was formed in 2000 by funk-lovers Andy "ROK", best known as the founding member and guitarist from the socio-political hip-hop rock group Flobots, and his friend, saxophone wielding sex symbol Serafin Sanchez who graduated from The University of Colorado at Boulder with a master's degree in Jazz music. NYU-trained soul-singing bombshell Erin Jo Harris was invited by ROK and Sanchez to join the duo in late 2009, and the freshly-minted trio started churning out songs like hot cakes. They enlisted the most bad-ass rhythm and brass sections available: tone master Chris Harris on bass and beat savant Tohbias Juniel on drums, along with two-man trumpet power punch Joe Ferrone and John Lake, and all headed deep into the studio to unearth their new signature sound.

Push emerged at the famed Blasting Room Studios in northern Colorado under the supervision of award-winning master engineers Jason Livermore and Andrew Berlin, best known for their work with gold-record-selling rock bands like Rise Against and cult favorite bands like NOFX and Alkaline Trio, to name a few. The final result is a meaty slab of party-starting funk & roll sliced and diced in the tradition of the original founders of funk, served up with a colossal helping of cojones grandes. The five-song Push EP was released to a score of hungry fans in May 2010, garnering good reviews and grabbing the attention of the Denver music scene like never before.

From the roaring guitar and blaring brass of "Prove It To You" to the soaring, soul-crushing vocals of their sole ballad, "What I Wanna Hear", to the heart-thumping bass and bone-breaking beats of the title track, Push is guaranteed to get anyone with an ounce of soul and a pulse shaking their tail feathers and banging their heads.

The new album is now available for download on iTunes, Amazon, emusic and all other on-line outlets as well as on www.bopskizzum.com. Be on the lookout for updates on the band including concert appearances along with the band's video segments outlining their mission to save the funk at www.savethefunk.org.
