Nugs.Net To Webcast PHISH Live From Tahoe

Phish fans who were shut out of the band's sold out two night stand in Tahoe can watch the concerts live on LivePhish.com, the band-to-fan channel operated by nugs.net.

A $24.99 two night pass gives fans access to a 10 camera high definition shoot with high quality audio mixed live exclusively for LivePhish.com.  Single night passes are also on sale for $14.99 each.

Tahoe will continue a series of Live Phish webcasts nugs.net pioneered with the band over New Year's with three pay-per-view webcasts from Madison Square Garden, ranked as the highest grossing paid concert webcasts on record.  Fans can tune in on their large screen TVs via HDMI-equipped PCs or Macs, as well as on Android devices, Xbox, Wii, and Playstation game consoles. Nugs.net handles the live encoding, broadcast, transactions, secure gateway, reporting, and customer service for the LivePhish.com webcasts.

Now in its tenth year, LivePhish.com is a partnership between Phish and nugs.net.  With over 40 million downloads served, every note Phish has performed live since 2002 is available for download in multiple formats, including higher than CD quality 24 bit FLAC-HD, Apple Lossless, and 256kbps MP3s.  Most shows are also available on limited edition CDs.  Videos from many shows are sold as downloads, and Phish posts a free high definition stream of one song from each night of this tour at LivePhish.com.

Moreover, the bar code on every Phish ticket is redeemable at LivePhish.com for free MP3s of that show, available within an hour of the band leaving the stage each night.  Fans can also listen to the latest show and access everything they’ve ever bought from LivePhish.com in the cloud with the Live Phish App (bit.ly/LivePhishApp), which Billboard voted the best touring app of 2010.  Phish also uses nugs.net's Appetizer to stream samples of each night’s show on Facebook, capturing sales directly in their fans' news feed.  Beyond these multi-faceted direct-to-fan services, nugs.net also handles the mechanical license administration for the 28,000 unique tracks in the Live Phish library.

Member International Jazz Festival Organisation (IJFO):

Gent Jazz Festival became a member of the IJFO. The IJFO is a select worldwide club which unites 16 eminent jazz festivals like North Sea Jazz, London Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festivals, Montreal Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Istanbul Jazz Festival… With its recent entry into the IJFO, ‘Jazz & Muziek npo’ receives worldwide recognition for its activities and high quality programme. The non-profit organization is the organizer of Gent Jazz Festival, Jazz Middelheim (in collaboration with public broadcasting VRT) and Jazz & Sounds (in collaboration with Arts Centre Vooruit, Music Centre De Bijloke and University College Ghent. This umbrella organization sets up synergies for common advantages and artistic opportunities. Bertrand Flamang, director of Jazz & Muziek npo: “Gent Jazz Festival recently became a member because it meets all qualitative and quantitative conditions. The membership is an important milestone for us as an organization and at the same time offers advantages for our other festivals: Jazz Middelheim and Jazz & Sounds Festival.”  For the Belgian music and festival scene this is another important step and another example of the quality of the Belgian music scene in all its diversity.

THE 40th ANNIVERSARY of the Grateful Dead at HARPUR COLLEGE

1970's intense. T.C. leaves the band in late January. The band's 'busted down on Bourbon Street' on January 31st. In March they discover their manager, Mickey Hart's father Lenny, has been stealing them blind (they're already hugely in debt to the record company). Only the music is sane; they enter the studio in March and in three weeks record Workingman's Dead, fulfilling Garcia and Hunter's work of the past year. It comes out in June. They add a regular opening act, the New Riders of the Purple Sage (Garcia plays pedal steel in it), and their shows stretch ever longer. Late that month they cross Canada on the Festival Express. In September they have some spare time, and go back into the studio, producing another gem, American Beauty. In the fall they begin a long series of college concerts that will establish them (along with the two albums) in a long-term way as a touring band.

“Finally I have the quality I’ve been looking for on this famous date. There are so many outrageous things that stand out on this date, that I hesitate to list them all. There are a few places where the quality “garbles” of fades in & out, during the “Anthem” & “Viola Lee Blues”, but outside of this everything is excellent. In “Cold Rain & Snow”, Garcia tunes up several times & really gets into singing with gusto, like I’ve never heard this tune. There is a really nice riff from “Dark Star” that they do during the end of “Dancing in the Streets”. During the Acoustic Set, there is one point where Garcia & Weir lecture the noisy audience about being a more “respectable audience.”
