They Might Be Giants "Join Us" Advance Tracks out on iTunes Today

They Might Be Giants new album, Join Us, is the recordings that their fans have been waiting 20 years for! Impossibly catchy, sometimes strange and always original the album is a stunning return to form. On Join Us we find the Brooklyn originals have returned to rock and to their singular sensibility that made them an instant phenomenon in the world of alternative rock. Join Us is an electrifying mix of clever, maddeningly catchy songwriting and studio mastery. The album was created in the brand new private studio of their long-time collaborator Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige, Tegan and Sara, Doveman). The advance tracks are released digitally today on iTunes through the “Complete My Album” program, with the full album arriving in all digital and physical outlets July 19, 2011 through Idlewild/Rounder Records.

The advance track offering opens with “Can’t Keep Johnny Down”--a summer-perfect pop single that will get instantly stuck in your head and make you want to roll down the windows. The electronic ballad “Never Knew Love” puts a new and simple twist on the love song.  The pure folk-pop of “Old Pine Box” showcases the band's signature harmonies, handclaps and the always popular, never anticipated vocoder. Check out the “Can’t Keep Johnny Down” MP3 HERE.  Feel free to post and share!

They Might Be Giants unlikely success story started nearly three decades ago with their Dial-A-Song service. High energy, low budget videos broke them into heavy rotation on MTV and the rest would soon become alternative rock history.  Along the way the band has become the recipients of two GRAMMYs and a platinum record (1990’s Flood). They recorded numerous themes including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, their GRAMMY-winning theme Malcolm In the Middle and many more.

Notorious for their energized live show, They Might Be Giants will launch the first international tour in over a decade this Fall, hitting 6 countries and over 50 US cities.  Several tour dates have been announces & stay tuned for more details next month.

Statewide Emergency @ The Fox Theatre

Statewide Emergency is a rock and roll quartet that plays honest original music with complex melodies and quality musicianship. Although much of the vocals and guitar are rooted in blues and alternative music (The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age), the rhythm section is inspired by more straight ahead rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and The Dead Weather leaving more intrigue than doubt about what genre the band plays. One music writer described it as “balls-to-the-wall rock laced with blues and an alternative touch.”

Henry Rollins @ Boulder Theater

In the '90s, Henry Rollins emerged as a post-punk renaissance man, without the self-conscious trappings that plagued such '80s artists as David Byrne. Following Black Flag's breakup in 1986, Rollins was been relentlessly busy, recording albums with the Rollins Band, writing books and poetry, performing spoken word tours, writing a magazine column in Details, acting in several movies, and appearing on radio programs and, less frequently, as an MTV VJ. The Rollins Band's records are uncompromising, intense, cathartic fusions of hard rock, funk, post-punk noise, and jazz experimentalism, with Rollins shouting angry, biting self-examinations and accusations over the grind. On his spoken word albums, he is remarkably more relaxed, showcasing a hilariously self-deprecating sense of humor that is often absent in his music. All the while, he has kept his artistic integrity, becoming a kind of father figure for many alternative bands of the '90s.

Hotel & Inns Review: Boulder Corporate Rentals Hotel Alternative

<A HREF=Boulder Corporate Rentals - for the Grateful Web" title="Boulder Corporate Rentals " hspace="0" vspace="0" width="240" />

Boulder Corporate Rentals

I heard of Boulder Corporate Rentals from friends at work, and they were very accommodating with my hectic home purchase.

The accommodation, a private terraced one bedroom, was quiet and larger then I expected. It was clean and fully stocked with everything I needed.  I used and loved Remington's indoor heated pool, and the on site staff accepted several critical documents for me at the Remington Office when I was out of town.

I had to call and reschedule my leaving date 4 or 5 times, but Michele, Mike, and Barney were understanding and flexible every time.

I finally did buy my house in Boulder, thanks to Boulder Corporate Rentals, I never worried about the changing closing date.

Thank you!

Justin Hancock, Fall 2004
