Vanity Theft Announces New Single, Launches Remix Contest

Ohio’s hard-rockin’ quartet Vanity Theft has been hard at work lately- the band is fresh off a nationwide tour with Hunter Valentine, which culminated with several SXSW shows and now a four week residency at Los Angeles’ famed Club Moscow, being the first band in over four years to be invited to a residency there. Their full-length album Get What You Came For came out on March 1st via Vigilante Music/Adamant Records, and now they’re happy to share the news of a new single and remix contest for their fans!

They’ll be releasing the “Rattle Rattle” single on April 26th, which will include remixes by HOUSES, Jesse Christenson and Tiny Bill. On top of that, the band is launching a remix/mashup contest in conjunction with Laptoprockers.com.

The contest lasts from March 30-May 20th- here’s a note from Laptoprockers regarding their partnership with Vanity Theft:

“Laptoprockers are very happy to have Vanity Theft aboard for this remix contest. With five sexy songs to remix, this is our biggest contest to date! Angry Angry Grrrls: Vanity Theft @ The Knitting Factory

I’m a die-heart feminist. That’s why I was surprised by how distasteful the Vanity Theft show was on February 2.

Vanity Theft Premieres New Video, Add Dates to Tour

Fresh off releasing their latest EP, Anatomy, on October 26th, Vanity Theft is already busy gearing up for 2011. On top of releasing their upcoming album Get What You Came For digitally on February 1st (with the physical release following on March 1st), the band is also set to hit the road on an extensive North American tour with Hunter Valentine in February/March 2011!

To cap off the year, Vanity Theft premiered their new video for the Houses’ Haunted Tape remix of “Anatomy” today via NickyDigital.com! The band recruited Houses, a Lefse Records artist, to remix the track, who gave it a dark, ambient spin. The video is visually stunning, providing the perfect complement to Houses’ rework of the studio track.

Reminiscent of some of the best old school post riot-grrl indie sounds such as The Runaways, L7, Sleater Kinney, Vanity Theft tears it up live, leaving audiences as sweat-drenched as the band when it’s all over. After attracting the attention of former Disney Channel star Lalaine, who joined the band permanently earlier this year, the band set to work on the Anatomy EP, which dropped in October as a precursor to the upcoming full-length.

Get What You Came For finds the band at their very best: catchy, edgy, and dancey as hell. The album kicks off with the charging track “Trainwreck,” and doesn’t let you go until the final notes of “Missing Teeth” slowly fade out.

Vanity Theft Announce New Album & Tour

Following on the heels of several months of non-stop touring in support of their recent EP, Anatomy, Vanity Theft, Ohio’s rockin' female quartet is ready to unleash their new full-length album, Get What You Came For, due digitally on February 1st, with the physical album available in stores on March 1st via
Vigilante Music/Adamant Records.

To celebrate the news, we’re happy to share a remix of the albums’ track “Anatomy,” by Lefse Records’ artist Houses, who gives the song a nice ambient spin! Vanity Theft is also thrilled to announce a Spring 2011 national tour, alongside Hunter Valentine! The tour will find them hitting markets all across North America- let us know if you’d like to check out any of the dates.

Vanity Theft is Alicia Grodecki (vocals/keyboard), Lalaine (bass), Brittany Hill (guitar) and Elyse Driskill (drums). Over the past five years, the band has built a rabid following the old fashioned way: by touring their asses off. The bands’ early gigs started in their hometown of Dayton, then spread after a highly successful stint on 2009’s Warped Tour, resulting in several national tours in 2010 (most recently with Sick of Sara).

Reminiscent of some of the best old school as well as post riot-grrl indie sounds (The Runaways, L7, Sleater Kinney), Vanity Theft tears it up live, leaving the audience almost as sweat-drenched as the band when it’s all over.

After attracting the attention of former Disney Channel star Lalaine, who joined the band permanently earlier this year, the band set to work on the Anatomy EP, which dropped last month as a precursor to the upcoming full-length. Get What You Came For finds the band at their very best: catchy, edgy, and dancey as hell. The album kicks off with the charging track “Trainwreck,” and doesn’t let you go until the final notes of “Missing Teeth” slowly fade out.

Vanity Theft Drop New EP "Anatomy" and Announce Tour!

Five years ago the girls of Vanity Theft were high schoolers in Dayton, Ohio itching to do something more with their free time after school, so like many kids across the country, they started a band. What set them apart from the other teenagers they knew rocking in their parents' basement is that they knew from the moment that they picked up their guitars, that this wasn’t some fleeting childhood hobby- this was their life.

Alicia Grodecki (vocals/keyboard), Brittany Hill (guitar) and Elyse Driskill (drums) gigged their asses off around Ohio, making a name for themselves in their hometown and surrounding areas. They were gaining a considerable local following and the buzz kept mounting, resulting in a stint on the 2009 Warped Tour. They continued playing more and more high profile gigs and venues, packing places like the Peabody's in Cleveland and the Viper Room in LA.

In early 2010, they realized there was something missing from the band…a solid permanent bassist. Having not found someone that fit the mentality of the band as a collaborative partnership with being friends and having fun coming first, they finally fell into a bit luck. Their brand of dancey, catchy-as–hell rock caught the attention of former Disney Channel star, Lalaine who had been a fan since their last LP Postscript: Pace Yourself. After hearing through friends that the band was in need of a bassist, Lalaine flew from Burbank to audition for them in Ohio. The new quartet hit it off immediately, and Lalaine relocated soon after.

Inspired by heroes like Sleater-Kinney, the girls of Vanity Theft are ready to dominate. They releasing a new EP Anatomy October 26th, touring like crazy, and prepping a full length for release early Spring.
