Keller Williams Hosts Three-Show Benefit

One-man-band Keller Williams heads to the Fredericksburg Field House on Saturday, May 7 to headline the special family concert: Keller Williams Plays for Kids: A Benefit for the Cobblestone Children's Museum of Fredericksburg. During this unique event full of humor and surprises, parents and children will deepen their bond by playing music together and dancing to Keller’s infectious sing-along songs. Joining Keller will be local artist and drummer Ken Crampton of Everybody Drum and local painter/illustrator Bill Harris who collaborated with Keller last fall on Keller’s first children’s book Because I Said So (Fun Read Publishing, $20, for ages 2-8, 33 pages). Both Williams and Harris will be available following the show for a meet-and-greet and book signing.

This special family concert marks the first-ever fundraising event for the emerging Cobblestone Children's Museum. Cobblestone believes that the Fredericksburg area, with a combined population of more than 300,000, can support a children's museum and that the area’s children and families deserve the educational and enrichment opportunities that such a facility would provide. Cobblestone Children’s Museum of Fredericksburg’s mission is to inspire interactive learning and creativity in children and adults through moments of shared discovery. The museum’s vision is to provide a safe, challenging and stimulating environment where children can direct their own learning experiences. www.cobblestonechildrensmuseum.org.

That same weekend, Keller will also perform two shows for adults; both will benefit the Cobblestone Children’s Museum. On May 6, Keller performs aboard “The City of Fredericksburg Riverboat” for a lucky few people. Always a favorite for Keller fans, this boat trip finds Keller backed by Keith Moseley, Gibb Droll and Jeff Sipe (WMDS). Then, on the evening of May 7 at the Fredericksburg Field House, Keller will perform with Moseley, Droll & Sipe and will host a Late Night Dance Party featuring DJ Logic. Tickets and information on all three shows available at www.kellerwilliams.net.

Keller Williams released his first-ever kids album, appropriately titled Kids, last October, and this benefit show on May 7 marks the first time he’s bringing his live family show to his hometown. Kids has already been warmly embraced by kids and music tastemakers.

Keller Williams Announces Winter 2010 Tour

Today one-man-band Keller Williams announces his tour plans for early 2011. In addition to evening theatre shows in Austin, Chicago, and Philadelphia, Keller has confirmed some special matinee performances/book signings in select markets. That’s right, book signings. Hand-in-hand with the release of Keller Williams’ sixteenth album — and first-ever album for kids and families — appropriately titled Kids, Keller once again breaks new ground with the November 30 release of his very first children’s book, Because I Said So (Fun Read Publishing, $20, for ages 2-8, 33 pages).

Before the year’s end, Keller tours as the “Super Music Friend” along select Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! stops. For the holidays, Keller performs some very special shows in and around his hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia, including his 10th annual SPCA Holiday Benefit. A complete list of currently confirmed shows – both evening and matinee performances - is included below.

Based on Keller’s song by the same name (included on Kids), Because I Said So is told through the eyes of “L’il Keller,” who begins by asking, “Mommy, can I have some pink flamingos?” The little fellow soon learns the important life lesson that you can’t always have what you want, and there isn’t always a good reason why. “You can't have an alligator, tractor, giraffe or hippopotamus, cause I said so!" Enhanced by the cleverly drawn illustrations of Virginia artist Bill Harris, Because I Said So is humorous, colorful, heartfelt, and wise. Included with the book is a CD containing the song "Because I Said So.” Because I Said So is available at www.kellerwilliamskids.net.

KIDS – Keller’s first album release for children and families - has already been warmly embraced by kids’ and music tastemakers:

“Kids sparkles with invention.” - Technorati.com

“This is hands-down my favorite kids album of all time.” - Perfect Porridge

Keller Williams' first ever kids album, Kids, hits streets today

Today, Keller Williams releases his sixteenth album — and first-ever album for kids and families — appropriately titled Kids. With Kids, Keller once again breaks new ground, staking out his next conquest: the absolute adoration of the under-10 crowd and their parents, caregivers, and relatives.

Kids has already been warmly embraced by such kids’ music tastemakers as Stefan Shepherd (Zooglobble), Amber Bobnar (Boston Children’s Music), Pamela Brill (Rockabye Baby Music), and syndicated columnist Lee Littlewood (Kids Home Library). Stefan Shepherd wrote that Kids “immediately shoots to near the top of my most-anticipated albums list.” Declared Amber Bobnar, “It almost sounds like something from Stomp or Blue Man Group that just builds and builds on itself. It’s really a trip!” Lee Littlewood included Kids in an “Incredible New Music for Kids” column, writing, “Williams' high musical standards make Kids a superb CD for all ages.” Enthused Pamela Brill, “This CD blends Williams’ love of bluegrass and rock to create a unique sound that will resonate with listeners of all ages. What we like is that his music really gets it … he knows how to capture his listeners’ attention—and how to hold on to it.”

When Keller Williams addresses kids in song or words, it’s with extreme sincerity, respect, and more than a dash of his famous quirky, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. Every song on Kids clicks into a kid’s world, from the bouncy, two-beat “Taking a Bath” to the compellingly hip speak-singing of “Horseback Rider” and “Grandma’s Feather Bed” to the catchy, rhythmic, danceable “Keep It on the Paper.” Keller’s infectious good humor and the compelling joyfulness of his songs invite young listeners to freely sing, dance, and play along, becoming true partners with his legendary creativity.

In conjunction with the release of Kids, Keller Williams is releasing his first children's book, Because I Said So. Based on Keller’s song by the same name (included on Kids), the story is told through the eyes of “L’il Keller,” who learns that you can’t always get what you want, and there isn’t always a good reason why! Enhanced by the cleverly drawn illustrations of Fredericksburg, Virginia artist Bill Harris, Because I Said So is humorous, colorful, and wise. Included with the book is a CD containing the song "Because I Said So.” Because I Said So is available at www.kellerwilliamskids.net.

Keller Williams Announces NYE Run, SPCA Benefit show

Keller Williams has announced plans for a set of very special East Coast New Year’s Eve concerts. Starting on December 29 in Virginia and concluding on NYE in North Carolina (details below), each show on the “Celebrate the Holidays” run will feature three sets built around a different theme. Set I will be reggae, dub and funk versions of Keller favorites with Jay Starling on keys, Mark D on drums and Keller on bass. Set II will feature the bluegrass stylings of Larry Keel on guitar and his wife Jenny on bass with Keller playing his mini twelve-string (wanna-be mandolin) guitar. And Set III will be old school Keller on acoustic guitar with his trademark looped-out dance grooves. Big screen video visuals will be provided by Scott Sunn.

Before the NYE run kicks-off, Keller bring his three-set extravaganza to his hometown of Fredericksburg, VA for his annual holiday concert to benefit the SPCA. To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the event, which will take place on December 26 at the Fredericksburg Field House, Keller has invited local marching band Elby Brass to join the show for set break music. 100% of the concert’s profits will go to support The Fredericksburg Regional SPCA. Less than 3% of The Fredericksburg Regional SPCA’s budget is received from the City of Fredericksburg, forcing the branch to rely almost solely on individual and corporate donations and fundraising events like this. The Fredericksburg Regional SPCA is a “no-kill” shelter whose mission is to tackle the problem of pet overpopulation through education, adoption, rehabilitation and spay/neuter.

Keller’s SPCA benefit show and NYE run will cap a very busy year for one of the hardest working men in music. May saw the release of his acclaimed all covers album Thief featuring Larry and Jenny Keel. Praised by Blurt as "impressive.... a great effort that's bound to bring in a few more fans,” the album features completely retooled versions of songs by everyone from Amy Winehouse to Ryan Adams. Moving from covers to kiddos, Keller’s latest album finds him breaking into the world of children’s music with the appropriately titled Kids. A sure hit for parents and children alike, Kids is due October 26 via SCI Fidelity, this will be Keller Williams’ sixteenth album.

Keller will tour in support of Kids with select November dates in the Pacific Northwest as the “Super Music Friend” on the Yo Gabba Gabba tour. Keller will also be playing for older kids with evening shows in the same cities. Prior to the Kids tour Keller will be touring theaters all over the country, details below.
