Nugs.Net To Webcast PHISH Live From Tahoe

Phish fans who were shut out of the band's sold out two night stand in Tahoe can watch the concerts live on LivePhish.com, the band-to-fan channel operated by nugs.net.

A $24.99 two night pass gives fans access to a 10 camera high definition shoot with high quality audio mixed live exclusively for LivePhish.com.  Single night passes are also on sale for $14.99 each.

Tahoe will continue a series of Live Phish webcasts nugs.net pioneered with the band over New Year's with three pay-per-view webcasts from Madison Square Garden, ranked as the highest grossing paid concert webcasts on record.  Fans can tune in on their large screen TVs via HDMI-equipped PCs or Macs, as well as on Android devices, Xbox, Wii, and Playstation game consoles. Nugs.net handles the live encoding, broadcast, transactions, secure gateway, reporting, and customer service for the LivePhish.com webcasts.

Now in its tenth year, LivePhish.com is a partnership between Phish and nugs.net.  With over 40 million downloads served, every note Phish has performed live since 2002 is available for download in multiple formats, including higher than CD quality 24 bit FLAC-HD, Apple Lossless, and 256kbps MP3s.  Most shows are also available on limited edition CDs.  Videos from many shows are sold as downloads, and Phish posts a free high definition stream of one song from each night of this tour at LivePhish.com.

Moreover, the bar code on every Phish ticket is redeemable at LivePhish.com for free MP3s of that show, available within an hour of the band leaving the stage each night.  Fans can also listen to the latest show and access everything they’ve ever bought from LivePhish.com in the cloud with the Live Phish App (bit.ly/LivePhishApp), which Billboard voted the best touring app of 2010.  Phish also uses nugs.net's Appetizer to stream samples of each night’s show on Facebook, capturing sales directly in their fans' news feed.  Beyond these multi-faceted direct-to-fan services, nugs.net also handles the mechanical license administration for the 28,000 unique tracks in the Live Phish library.

Non-Traditional Reggae Artist Finding Increasingly Diverse Audience

As MC Zulu continues to establish his non-traditional Reggae/Dancehall style, radio stations and sponsors alike are falling into place. His “Crowd Control” EP made an impressive debut at #24 on CMJs Hip-Hop charts, and is now being added to the World and RPM categories.

MC Zulu’s sound has proved most attractive to music supervisors as well. His song “Higher Velocity” with producer BIONIK can be heard as part of Puma’s Faas Lab campaign. The commercial features a verse from Hip-Hop luminary Aceyalone, and a cameo by Fastest Man in the World, Usain Bolt.

Zulu also recently licensed the acappella version of his song “No Lies” for a remix competition with world-renowned producer Dub Gabriel. The competition was sponsored by Akai, Ableton and Dubspot. Another track, “Lose Control” with Kush Arora has been licensed by Tapulous for the popular Riddim Ribbon iPhone app.

When questioned about his unusually high profile ventures, Zulu explains that as rejections from record labels piled up, his resolve increased. He has headlined tours and amassed his fan base one by one, in such contrasting regions of the world as Israel, Slovakia and Australia. The “Crowd Control” full length entitled “Electro Track Therapy” is due in stores later this year.

DJ Shadow: Something to be Thankful for in Denver

On November 21, DJ Shadow (Josh Davis) is bringing his world famous mixing chops to the Ogden Theater in Denver. Live from Shadowsphere, it is the beginning of an easy work week for most people, and the DJ plans to start the week off right with guest Pigeon John at 8 pm.

DJ Shadow is widely considered as a prominent figure in the development of experimental and instrumental hip hop. His debut album Endtroducing got him on the map, and also in the Guiness Book of World Records for the “First Completely Sampled Album” in 2001. Shadow is also a producer, and has produced tracks for the Mo’ Wax team featuring the likes of Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Richard Ashcroft (the Verve), and Mike D (Beastie Boys). After releasing several more successful albums with elite rappers such as: Keak Da Sneak, E-40, and Q-Tip (Tribe Called Quest) and a David Letterman performance, Shadow opened his own web store www.showDJShadow.com for fans to get his freshest tracks. Last year, Shadow became involved in the video game industry with DJ Hero, which features Shadow as a playable character and several of his tracks. While currently working on his new album, which he calls a “return to form,” during a gig in Antwerp this summer, he stated that it’s not quite ready yet, but he will keep working on it to have it ready for future tours.

Fans can be getting the first look at his new projects. Whether you get your tickets through Ticketmaster, at Twist & Shout in Denver, or at the venue itself, this will be a gig that’s not to be missed. As always, you can buy tickets, add comments, and upload photos at the DJShadow.com/Tour show pages, and on the DJ Shadow iPhone App. Just click on the show you are attending (or the show you plan to attend). The comments and photos on the DJShadow.com show pages sync in real-time with the iPhone App!

For those of you on Twitter: Shadow has been tweeting from the road, so be sure to follow him: Twitter.com/DJShadow

See you there on the 21st!
