Release The Sunbird Announces August Tour

After releasing his stunning debut album Come Back To Us (Brushfire Records) under the moniker Release The Sunbird, Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave will be taking his new project out on tour this month. In addition to bringing the new songs to cities for the first time with Release The Sunbird, he will also be playing a very special set at this year’s Outside Lands Festival on August 12th.
Release The Sunbird is a side project, but it’s not. Release The Sunbird a solo project, but it’s not. This musical departure showcases a whole new side of Rogue, and is a re-introduction to an artist you thought you already knew. Rogue, who has spent years on the road with his band Rogue Wave touring with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Feist, Spoon, Nada Surf, The Shins, Jack Johnson and many others, is one of independent music’s most reliable musical voices. Come Back To Us, which was recorded on a whim in Bloomington, Indiana, is sun-kissed, joyful and one the loveliest you willhear this year.
Live, Zach and vocalist Kate Long deliver captivating performances that are magical and heart-wrenching. Their voices blend together perfectly while singing gorgeous melodies about love, loss, memory, and the deceptive simplicity of hope, as Zach strums along on his guitar. Be sure to catch these remarkable songs live. Dates are listed below.

Over 250 bands will play over the four days at more than 25 venues scattered throughout the neighborhood, the majority of which will be handpicked by some of the most respected labels, bloggers, record stores and other independent tastemakers in the community. Highlights include the return of live music to McCarren Park, with Beirut and Guided By Voices set to headline. Another exciting addition to this year's lineup is Deer Tick, who will be performing as Nirvana tribute band Deervana at Brooklyn Bowl.
Northside Film:
Last year, we were proud to introduce Northside Film--a film festival within Northside. We worked with some of the most respected voices in cinema to showcase an eclectic mix of cinematic programming. The non-competition screening series is curated by IFC, Rooftop Films, Film at Lincoln Center, Animation Block Party, and many more. And this year, we're providing a platform for local filmmakers in the form of a juried DIY film festival. Festival judges include Rosie PerezTed Hope and Todd P. To learn more about the competitive DIY film competition or to submit, visit the website for more details here.

On June 18 and 19, the most densely populated arts community in the country will open its doors to the public in a massive Open Studios program in conjunction with Greenpoint Open Studios. Hundreds of artists and galleries will show their latest work to thousands of interested patrons. Northside Open Studios is having an open call for artists working in all mediums to participate in this year's initiative. Opportunities to collaborate with galleries, local businesses and public spaces for special programming, exhibitions and events are available. Wires Under Tension Announce Debut Album, 'Light Science'

For nearly thirteen years Christopher Tignor lived in the 3-story commercial space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where he conceived and practiced with his band Slow Six. In 2008, thanks to a tipped off fire marshal, a move was inevitable, and the walls had to come down. Drastic measures would be necessary in order to keep making music on his own terms - living completely immersed in his studio and practice space. Step one was relocating to the Mott Haven neighborhood of The Bronx. Far removed from an overwhelming hipster scene he had never connected with, he found himself surrounded by the working-class grit and intensity typically associated with The South Bronx. The new musical landscape Wires Under Tension creates uncannily echoes this transition.

Charged with the desolation of a Mad Max dystopia, the songs on Wires Under Tension's debut Light Science form a narrative in motion from lightness to darkness. The band's name reflects the duo's ongoing struggle to balance this tension as they wrestle with an unpredictable and unforgiving machine of their own making. Wordless voices of the horns and violin feel like lightning riding a stormy sea of drums and drones. That lightning illuminates the duo's muscular rhythms, formidable dynamic, and unique musicianship. As they beckon us into their storm, they seem to effortlessly sidestep the cliches found in much of today's instrumental music, delivering exciting and mysterious gems from their unique netherworld.

Light Science will be available digitally through all major retail outlets December 7th
