Rex is pleased to announce that Theresa Reed-Hayle is the new Associate Director of the Rex Foundation. Theresa brings depth of experience in event and artist management, along with tremendous enthusiasm for the Rex Foundation and its legacy, all that will contribute greatly in helping Rex carry out fundraising activities and communications.
On April 14th the second performance of The World As It Could Be - Where There's A Will There's A Way takes place at Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, CA. This original dramatization about the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the will that is needed to manifest its words, is a recent initiative of the Rex Foundation. The performance is one of three creative arts components carried out by Rex grantees under the direction of Ellen Sebastian Chang. As part of this effort, we're working with Balboa High School in San Francisco, once attended by Jerry Garcia, to develop pilot curriculum that utilizes the creative arts to raise awareness of the UDHR. Read more about this special project and its generous supporters. And, you can post your comments about public school education and other topics on the Rex Foundation blog.
Look at page 41 of the April/May 2008 Relix Magazine that's in newstands now and available on-line to see the full-page Rex Foundation 25th Anniversary thank-you to the musical community for all their support.
Check out Rex Community Connections to learn about upcoming activities of Rex beneficiaries and other community connections, in this case, recent Jerry Garcia Award winner Jazzmasters Workshop, Ambassadors of Hope & Opportunity and Wavy Gravy's special birthday.
Rex is immersed in planning summer festival participation, benefit events across the country, a new website design and more. Rex will be sharing more news soon.
As you read the details of these various announcements, enjoy viewing the positive achievements that your support makes possible. We are connected as kindred travelers on the bus of the Rex Community Caravan, continuing to expand our grassroots philanthropic community. Let's make this a breakthrough 25th anniversary year, moving those grant dollars way past the $8.3 million distributed so far, demonstrating our collective power to further what the Grateful Dead started in the fall of 1983.
