Conspirator Announces Important Venue Changes

On the heels of a successful northeast tour that included a sold out show in Syracuse, NY, Conspirator has announced that five scheduled performances have newly updated venue information, in addition to confirming drummers and support acts.

Friday 2/5 in Los Angeles has been moved to the HOUSE OF BLUES SUNSET STRIP. Wednesday 2/9 in Portland has been moved to the ROSELAND THEATRE. Saturday 2/12 has moved from Oakland to across the bay at THE INDEPENDENT in San Francisco. Efforts are being made to schedule a performance in Seattle, WA, and the band plans to issue updates as soon as possible.

Saturday 2/19 in Albany is being rescheduled for a later date. Instead, Conspirator will be returning to THE STONE PONY in Asbury Park, NJ. On Saturday 2/26, instead of Urbana, Conspirator will be playing THE BLUEBIRD in Bloomington, IN.

All of the West Coast shows will feature Lane Shaw on drums, and Break Science featuring Adam Deitch opening. Piper will also be DJ'ing for both Montana shows.

February 16th through 20th will feature Darren Shearer of The New Deal on drums. February 24th through March 3rd will feature Mike Greenfield from Lotus on drums. Darren will again join us for the final two shows in NYC and Stroudsburg on March 4th and 5th.

The New Deal will be co-headlining February 24th in Detroit, and February 25th in Chicago.

While Disco Biscuits’ staples Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner have occasionally invited other musicians to their live shows, the “new Conspirator,” featuring Chris Michetti and a rotating cast of first-class drummers, has proven to be a new, “full band” sound emerging not only from the group’s mentality, but by featuring a solidified, returning, 4-piece lineup. In a recent band statement, Conspirator confirmed that they have been working to restructure their signature tracks in Ableton in order to create improvisational jams during live performances.

With a firmly set 4-piece band, fans can expect performances featuring increased live improv and a refreshing musical flow, peppered with some surprises. Inspired by new collaborations and the combined musical histories of the performers, Conspirator is set to get the scene talking in 2011.

“The energy coming off of the December Conspirator shows with Michetti was very exciting for Aron and I, and the fans have responded really well,” said Brownstein. “We knew right away we had to take this across the country. There are really exciting places a full band, this full band, can take the classic Conspirator sound. It’s a whole new show each night.”

Known throughout the live music world for high energy, creative guitar shredding with his band RAQ, Chris Michetti became much more familiar to Disco Biscuits fans throughout 2010 when he periodically accompanied the band on stage at places like Red Rocks, Camp Bisco, and on a number of Spring Tour performances. Michetti has been touring and creating music with Conspirator since late 2010, and anyone who has caught the early phases of the “new Conspirator” will undeniably be psyched for round two and beyond.

The current list of confirmed Conspirator dates is as follows:

The Pink Floyd Experience Performs "Animals" Live!

99.5 The Mountain & Westword are proud to announce that The Pink Floyd Experience will be performing Animals in its entirety, plus other classic Pink Floyd songs, at the Boulder Theater on Thursday, March 24th, 2011.

Without question, Pink Floyd remains one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Their record-breaking status is legendary.  The 1977 concept album Animals was a statement regarding the decline of society of the day.  While making the album did set in motion the discord that would eventually destroy the band, the subsequent tour for this release planted the seeds for what would become The Wall. Now, get ready for THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE as they perform Animals live in its entirety! With an even more spectacular light show than before, full quadraphonic sound and six outstanding musicians dedicated to bringing you the most authentic Floyd experience possible, it’s “a must-see for any Pink Floyd enthusiast!” (C-News, Northampton, MA).

Today, years since their last live performance, Pink Floyd’s appeal continues and spans the generations. Their shows were described as theatrical with mind-blowing lights and unsurpassed sound. The show is not only onstage…it engulfs the audience!  In keeping with this tradition, THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE is a full-on sensory assault – interpretive videos, plane crashes, flying pig, helicopter – it’s all there, LIVE!  This is the show for the ultimate Floyd Fan, and it gets closer to the true Pink Floyd concert experience every year!

In addition to Animals, all of Pink Floyd’s greatest hits are performed live including such favorites as “Money,” “Have A Cigar,” “Time,” “Comfortably Numb,” “Run Like Hell” and many rarities not often heard live.

Some Floyd Facts:  More than 200-million albums have been sold since 1967. Four Grammy nominations in the '70s, '80s, and '90s. They were one of the first bands to use pyrotechnics, video, and light shows in their stage acts. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. ”Dark Side of the Moon” broke all chart records when it stayed on the Billboard Top 200 Album charts for 741 weeks. It stayed there from 1973 to 1988. Nearly 1,000,000 Pink Floyd catalog albums are sold each year worldwide.

Don’t miss out!  THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE.

The Radiators Farewell Tour at the Fox Theatre

One of rock n’ rolls longest and New Orleans’ finest traveling road shows will come to an end after 33 years when The Radiators play their final two shows at Tipitina’s in New Orleans on June 10th & 11th. Lucky fans in the Boulder area can catch the band one last time at The Fox Theatre on February 10th.

Formed out of a jam session in 1978 The Radiators still feature the same 5 original members, Ed Volker (Lead Vocals, Keyboards) Dave Malone (Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar), Camile Baudoin ( Lead Guitar, Bkgrnd Vocals), Reggie Scanlan (Bass) & Frank Bua, Jr. (Drums). The Rads achieved significant commercial success in the late 80’s with the release of the classic albums Law Of The Fish and Total Evaporation. They have also released over 10 albums on independent labels and currently have 6 CDs available including Wild & Free a 2008 2 CD retrospective on their own Radz Records.  The band has played over 4500 shows and kept up a consistent tour schedule, still playing close to 150 dates a year. Additionally, they have held down the closing slot at the prestigious New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for over 25 years.

Volker, who handles the majority of the songwriting as well as splitting lead vocals with Malone informed his band mates a couple of weeks ago that he no longer wanted to endure the day to day struggles of life on the road and was exhausted from the constant touring. The other band members have yet to announce their future plans and have not ruled out the possibility of working together in the future, but the departure of Volker (affectionately known to fans as “Zeke Fish Head”) brings to an end the original version of a treasured rock n’ roll institution.

Greensky Bluegrass CD Release

The music that Greensky Bluegrass performs can best be described as a breath of fresh air, relaxing, invigorating and a welcomed change from the current climate.  The Kalamazoo, MI based quintet uses traditional bluegrass instruments – dobro, banjo, guitar, upright bass and mandolin – to create original songs that are unique, yet familiar and cover songs unconventional to their roots (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan).

The Midwestern boys had an incredible 2010, touring nationally, performing alongside Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead and featured at the Rockygrass Festival in Lyons, CO, on the main stage at the Grey Fox Festival in upstate New York and in front of an audience of thousands at the All Good Festival in West Virginia. Additionally, the quintet delighted campers at the All Good Festival by performing a surprise midnight to sunrise ‘Guerilla Grass’ jam session that was captured by CNN and featured here.

Greensky Bluegrass has quickly become one of the most exciting touring acts on the road today, performing their trademark sound nationwide at over 160 spirited shows a year. This energy is captured perfectly on their live double-CD releases, All Access: Volume One and Volume Two. All Access is a series of recordings of select shows from the road, Volume One was released and subsequently sold-out in 2010 and Volume Two was released later in that same year.  Each installment offers nearly 30 songs, originals and covers.

Since winning the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest, Greensky has been touring constantly and all the hard work is certainly paying off. Recent highlights are too many to list, but include selling out venues in many parts of the country, sharing the stage with musical heroes, getting asked to play shows with the likes of Tony Rice and Peter Rowan, Sam Bush, Yonder Mountain String Band and Railroad Earth. Greensky Bluegrass is Anders Beck (dobro), Michael Arlen Bont (banjo), Dave Bruzza (guitar), Mike Devol (upright bass) and Paul Hoffman (mandolin).

Check out Greensky Bluegrass at Sullivan Hall in NYC on February 10th.

The society is always accepting new, honorary members who are willing to delve deeper into the music, both intellectually and spiritually and physically.
