Jam Cruise 9 Announces Dates and Lineup

It’s been 7 years and 8 sold-out cruises since Jam Cruise first set sail as the “floating music festival“ that has become a fan favorite for thousands. Today, Jam Cruise 9 announces that it will set sail on January 4-9, 2011 on the MSC Poesia with stops at two of the cruise’s most beloved port stops: Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico.

Tropical ports and luxury cruise ship amenities are only part of the Jam Cruise experience. Ultimately, Jam Cruise is about celebrating the MUSIC and incredible community that comes together each year to share in this special musical experience. Jam Cruise 9 returns with as strong and eclectic a lineup as ever. Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey Announce New Lineup & Jan./Feb. Tour Dates

JACOB FRED JAZZ ODYSSEY- for the Grateful Web

Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey are very pleased to announce a revamped lineup for 2009.  The odyssey continues with Brian Haas on keys, Josh Raymer on drums, and proudly introducing new members Chris Combs on guitar and lap steel and Matt Hayes on bass.  The reconfigured band made its debut on New Year's Eve to an elated sold out crowd in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They'll make their next apperance this coming Saturday, January 10th in New York City as part of the 2009 Winter Jazzfest.

JFJO would also like to wish their best to founding member of 15-years, Reed Mathis, as 2009 will find him exploring other musical endeavors.

JFJO has a handful of dates in January, returning to old haunts like Denton, Fayetteville, and Kansas City.  February will then find the band on a full West Coast tour, brought to fans by Aurora Innovations, beginning what promises to be another year of musical evolution.

As summer approaches and festival season swings in to high gear, Jam Cruise - the floating festival where everyone on board has a "back stage pass" - is preparing for its seventh incarnation.  On January 4, 2009, Jam Cruise 7 will depart from Fort Lauderdale for five days and head to Belize City, Belize and Costa Maya, Mexico on the elegant MSC Orchestra.  Performing artists include Les Claypool, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Michael Franti featuring Jay Bowman, Keller Williams with Moseley, Droll and Sipe, Galactic Cruise Crewe (featuring Big Sam, Walter "Wolfman" Washington & Trombone Shorty), Leftover Salmon, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Martin Sexton, the New Deal, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Garage A Trois, Lettuce, Porter, Batiste & Stoltz, New Mastersounds, Emmitt-Nershi Band, Bonerama, The Lee Boys, The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker, Brock Butler,and DJ Rekha, with others still to be announced.

Jammys Initial Performance Lineup

An impressively eclectic group of artists ranging from revered singer/songwriter Ryan Adams to roots reggae hero Burning Spear are coming together for the 5th Annual Jammys Awards Show and All-Star Concert to be held April 26 th at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Les Claypool, frontman for alt-metal godfathers Primus, respected piano man Bruce Hornsby, rising newgrass faves Yonder Mountain String Band, southern boogie torchbearers North Mississippi All-Stars, downtown jazz greats Medeski Martin and Wood, one-man band Keller Williams, Midwestern jam stars Umphrey's McGee and Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon are also confirmed for the show, which will be hosted by Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, who will also perform.

More big names, including this year's Lifetime Achievement Award winner, will be announced in coming weeks. In the meantime, fans can vote for the year's best album, song, DVD, download, new artist, tour, live show and archival release of the year at .

Founded as an alternative to mainstream award shows and produced by Relix Magazine, and Peter Shapiro, The Jammys is a celebration of the best in live improvisational music performance that pairs the brightest lights on the burgeoning jam music scene with stars from the pop, rock, reggae, gospel and jazz realms. In its first four years, The Jammys has become one of New York City 's premiere annual live music events and one of the top grassroots music events in the world, hosting countless historic, once-in-a-lifetime musical moments.

Last year's show featured the onstage reunion of The Black Crowes, who joined Gov't Mule for a version of their 1992 hit "Sometimes Salvation," as well as a finale that featured sacred steel phenom Robert Randolph, legendary Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts, String Cheese Incident's Michael Kang and guitar hero Warren Haynes (of The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule and The Dead) jamming with Steve Winwood on his Spencer Davis Group hit "Gimme Some Lovin'." Daily Variety declared: "The producers—or some cosmic forces—really outdid themselves at this year's kudofest."

In year's past, such off-the-wall collaborations as rapper Slick Rick with the Disco Biscuits, The B-52's with Particle and Blue Oyster Cult with moe. have wowed sold-out audiences. In 2002, the concert-ending finale featured an all-star jam that included Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon of Phish, Warren Haynes, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, and Robert Randolph, among others. Solomon Burke, The Allman Brothers Band, John Mayer, Blind Boys of Alabama, Dr. John, Toots Hibbert, Perry Farrell, Susan Tedeschi, Michael Franti of Spearhead, Harlem Gospel Choir, Black Thought, The Tom Tom Club, Marky Ramone, the Del McCoury Band and Bernie Williams of the New York Yankees, among many, many others have also performed at The Jammys in years past.

In between performances, nine Jammys trophies are handed out in categories voted on by fans, while a Lifetime Achievement award is given out at the end of the night. In years past, Lifetime Achievement trophies have been bestowed upon B.B. King, The Meters, the Grateful Dead and Steve Winwood.
