Scattered Trees Premiere Live “A Conversation” Video

Today, Chicago’s Scattered Trees premiered their live video for “A Conversation About Death on New Years Eve” on My Old Kentucky Blog. Click here to watch the video on MOKB or check out the video on YouTube. The track is also available as a free Mp3 download HERE (feel free to post and share). The video for “A Conversation” is a glimpse of Scattered Trees’ live performances that the band honed playing around Chicago. The group has also announced a series of new dates, including a new SXSW showcase on March 18th at The Ghost Room as a part of The NAIL/The MuseBox SXSW Day Party.

The band’s upcoming performances lead up to the release of Scattered Trees’ latest record Sympathy, which will be released on April 5th via Roll Call Records/EMI. The album is a focused, deeply personal collection of songs that finds Scattered Trees experimenting with lush multi-part harmonies, constructing dynamic builds, and exploring the intricacies of love and loss. Opening with “Bury the Floors,” lead singer Nate Eiesland sings “It’s the house that I built you to fall / We started to walk then we stood up to crawl / So bury the floors and burn down the walls / to find ourselves by morning.” Driving rock epics like “Four Days Straight” rub shoulders with melancholic elegies like “Where You Came From.” The album’s title track starts with a stripped-down plaintive mandolin, ultimately fading into a slow-burning orchestral groove. Melting into “Five Minutes,” Scattered Trees continues the build until the track bursts forth. The band rounds out the record with the mournful acoustic closer “On Your Side,” a fitting tribute for a deeply heartfelt and therapeutic album.

Edwyn Collins Announces US Tour Dates

On the heels of announcing the US release date of his new album, Losing Sleep, indie music icon Edwyn Collins has revealed his long-awaited return to Stateside shores for some live dates. Shortly after the album hits stores (March 8th; Heavenly Recordings/Cooperative Music USA/Downtown Records), he’ll be stopping by New York and SXSW.  Edwyn’s last American shows were acoustic shows in 2003, and he hasn’t performed any with a full live band since 1997.

2010 was a phenomenal year for Edwyn.  The former frontman of Scottish post-punkers Orange Juice released his seventh solo album in the UK to massive acclaim, and it ended up being one of the year’s best reviewed albums by the British press.  The record features tracks co-written with Johnny Marr, Roddy Frame, Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy of Franz Ferdinand, Romeo Stodart of The Magic Numbers, Ryan Jarman of The Cribs, and The Drums - and is the first album Edwyn’s written and recorded since his serious illness in 2005.

Super 400 Announces February Tour through Western US

Coming off multiple sold-out shows across Europe, Northeast power trio Super 400 will head west for a string of dates with Stockholm Syndrome, featuring Jerry Joseph and Widespread Panic’s Dave Schools. Kicking off February 18 & 19 at The Independent in San Francisco and concluding on February 26 at Boulder’s Fox Theatre, the two bands will play eight rock shows in nine days.

Formed in the mid-‘90s by guitarist/vocalist Kenny Hohman, drummer Joe Daley and bassist Lori Friday in Troy, NY, Super 400 has been winning fans over around the world with a chest-rattling rock & soul approach inspired by their heroes Cream, Zeppelin, Van Halen and the classic sounds of Motown, Stax and Muscle Shoals. Blair Announces Feb/Mar Tour With Say Hi

Brooklyn-based artist Blair has announced new tour dates in support of Say Hi this February and March. The lengthy jaunt will launch February 18th at Neurolux in Boise, ID and wrap up March 30th at The Media Club in Vancouver, BC. The tour includes a hometown show on March 7th at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, as well as two dates during this year's SXSW festival. Blair's debut full-length Die Young was released early last year by Autumn Tone Records.

Die Young is a winsome mix of dreamy, hazy indie pop influenced by Blair's love for '90s FM radio (think Beck and Nirvana) and the records spun on her mother's turntable (like Bob Dylan and Neil Young) while growing up in New Orleans, LA. The album was written - in both her hometown and Los Angeles, CA - and re-recorded over the course of five years. The songs were finally laid to tape in New Orleans using both traditional studios and makeshift home setups, with the help of producer Keith Ferguson and a host of musician friends filling out the parts.

As her airy vocals tell stories of heartache, daydreams and memories, throughout the album Blair shows herself to be a nimble musician and songwriter with an innate sense of sumptuous melody. Whether the angular guitar pop of opener "Rampage," the sweetly yearning "Hearts" (listen/download here), the sprightly whimsy of "Hello Halo," the '60s girl-group swing of "Paris France," or the soaring, lush "Wolfboy" (listen/download here), it's easy to understand why PasteMagazine.com gave her its 'Best Of What's Next' label and why Muzzle Of Bees declared Die Young "...a pop album for this generation...one of the year's most promising surprises."

Jason Aldean's Party Goes PLATINUM!

Just eleven weeks after its release, Billboard’s 2010 Top Male Country Artist Jason Aldean is celebrating PLATINUM certification for sales of one million copies for his fourth studio album MY KINDA PARTY.  The 15 track disc becomes Aldean’s third career PLATINUM album and brings the country rocker to five million total albums sold since his debut five years ago.

"I just can't say enough about country music fans and the amount of loyalty they have for their favorite artists," said Aldean. "To think that a million people already bought this record is hard for me to get my head around. And five million since I started?  No way!  I am so grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to play music every night."

MY KINDA PARTY opened big in Nov. with an impressive first week moving over 193,000 units and earning the biggest first week debut by a male vocalist in over three years. The album’s lead and title track recently earned GOLD certification for digital downloads and took the No. one spot on Mediabase’s country chart. Aldean’s powerful duet with Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay” follows closely behind, jumping into the Top 15 this week. Both singles also remain in the Top 10 on iTunes’ Country Songs Chart.

Aldean will kick off the sold out first weekend of arena dates on his MY KINDA PARTY TOUR this Friday in Little Rock, AR.  The 30 city run through May features special guests Eric Church and the JaneDear girls.
