Beady Eye announce today the addition of a Philadelphia date on their first North American tour. Previously announced dates in New York, Chicago & Toronto quickly sold-out when announced earlier this month. The band (Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock) will be giving fans in Philadelphia a first live taste of their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding at Theater of the Living Arts on June 25^th. Beady Eye is currently on their sold-out debut European tour. UK daily newspaper, The Independent was at the tour kick off earlier this month in Glasgow, Scotland and remarked that Beady Eye, "sound encouragingly refreshed.... you realise watching them that Beady Eye are in the very unique position of possessing iconic impetus while being newly unchained from the weight of their past."

Today The Builders and the Butchers premiered "Lullaby," the first song off their upcoming third album Dead Reckoning, on My Old Kentucky Blog. The urgent, ominous track can now be heard and downloaded here. Dead Reckoning will be released February 22^nd, 2011 on Badman Recording Co.

The Builders will also head out on tour in support of friends Murder By Death early next month. The month-long string of dates begins February 1^st at Cosmic Charlie's in Lexington, KY, and wraps up February 20^th at The Waiting Room in Omaha, NE, and includes a hometown album release show February 15^th at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR.

Dead Reckoning is a bold and dynamic set of 12 tracks, a raucous musical blend that culls from folk, back porch bluegrass, and unplugged blues. Led by Ryan Sollee's fervent vocals and the big drum sound of the deconstructed kit split between Brandon Hafer and Ray Rude, the album ranges from pounding anti-anthems to more subdued, haunting tracks to gospel-tinged laments. Sollee, writing against the backdrop of the recent downturn, found himself relating to and drawing inspiration from American music of the 1930s. The timeless songs on Dead Reckoning follow suit, weaving gothic stories with common threads like absolute good and evil, addiction, religion, and the father and the son. The album was recorded predominantly live over eight days in Portland with the help of Adam Selzer (The Decemberists, M. Ward, She & Him) and engineer Dylan Magierek (Mark Kozelek, Starfucker, Thao Nguyen), in effort to finally capture the unbridled energy of The Builders' renowned live show.

Now in its 10th year, The Songwriter's Beat is New York's premiere performing songwriter series. Hosted and founded by singer-songwriter Valerie Ghent, four up-and-coming songwriters perform new material in a supportive and intimate atmosphere.

This month's Songwriter's Beat features Rebecca Hart, Valerie Ghent, Danny Ross and Randi Driscoll.

Every third Wednesday of the month, four songwriters of varying musical styles perform original songs and are encouraged to try out their newest material and arrangements. The series culminates in a week-long festival each July, featuring performers from throughout the years.

Founded in 2000, The Songwriter's Beat has presented over 290 songwriters from the Tri-State area as well as visiting songwriters from other parts of the United States, Canada, France, the UK, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, Cuba and Japan.

Adam Green's new album Minor Love hits stores today on Fat Possum Records. The album shows a more serious, tender side of the uniquely charming, accomplished Green, who Time Out New York's The Volume blog recently declared, "...ranks among the city's strangest and most engaging young songwriters...he has created a body of work that's deceivingly smart...". Minor Love, his sixth solo venture since the Moldy Peaches went on hiatus in 2002, is a very personal, '70s-influenced folk-rock album and Green's best work to date: in a four-star review, Q Magazine wrote, "...Minor Love is charming; regularly recalling, on tracks such as Castles And Tassels, the barbed-yet-playful love songs Lou Reed used to pen."

Today AOL Music's Spinner blog premiered Green's video for Minor Love's first single "What Makes Him Act So Bad." The Todd Smolar-directed video, shot in New York City's famed Chelsea Hotel and featuring model/DJ Harley Viera-Newton, can be seen here, while the song can be downloaded here. Green will embark on a three and a half week headlining tour beginning April 1^st at Venue in Vancouver, BC, and wrapping up April 23^rd and 24^th with a two-night hometown stand at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY. Last month, he spent ten days on the road in support of The Cribs before traveling overseas, where he is currently on a headlining tour in Europe.

Now in its sixteenth year, Stout Month has become a most anticipated event among local beer connoisseurs.  Ten of Mountain Sun's taps will fade to black with local, regional and national versions of the rich, thick and dark ale. For the first time ever, Stout Month will be expanding beyond Boulder as Vine Street Pub in Denver will join in paying homage to the almighty Stout!

Featured Stouts include nitrogen poured Belgian Dip Chocolate Stout and Korova Cream Stout. For the third year in a row, our Old School Irish Stout will also make an appearance on Nitro.  On CO2, Mountain Sun and Vine Street will be offering perennial favorite Yonder Mountain Stout and the good ol' classic Thunder Head Stout.  Once again we will brew a batch of Cherry Dip Stout  (Chocolate Stout with Sweet Cherry Puree).  This decadent elixir should arrive just in time for Valentine's Day. We also found out what happens when you load a stout full of hops.  The answer is " Trickster Stout."  For the first time ever we will be featuring two house-brewed imperial stouts.  To compliment the palette- stomping Usurper, we will be unveiling a brand new Imperial.  Beware The Nihilist!

For the third year in a row, Mountain Sun will be hosting its ever-popular Stout Homebrew Competition.  Our panel of brewers will choose one lucky homebrewer to assist in brewing his or her own winning recipe on Mountain Sun's 6-barrel system. Past years' winners have included some of our tastiest and most popular stouts ever.  Two previous winners, Coconut Cream Stout and Stoaked Oak Stout, will be making yet another encore appearance at both pubs.

As usual, Mountain Sun rounds up a wide variety of local and national guest stouts to compliment the house brewed ales.  Guest stouts are still being finalized; this years line up is likely to include: Stone Imperial Stout (San Marcos, CA). Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout from Anderson Valley (Boonville, CA), Twisted Pine's Big Daddy Espresso Stout (Boulder, CO), Dog Fish Head's Chicory Stout (Milton, DE), Several vintages of Avery Czar Imperial Stout, and Great Divide's Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout (Denver CO).

All the way from England, Young's, Double Chocolate Stout will be tapped for the fifth year in a row. 

This is a once a year opportunity to try some of the regions best stouts, side by side and on tap.  The fun begins on Friday, February 1^st, at the Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, 1535 Pearl Street, and for the first time ever, at Vine Street Pub, 1700 Vine Street Denver.  This mega stout celebration will continue as long as supplies last.
