Railroad Earth Announces New Year's Eve 2005 Run

Railroad Earth 2005- for the Grateful Web

New Jersey-based national touring act Railroad Earth has announced it will play a three-night run of shows in late December leading up to New Year's Eve.  The shows in Northern Virginia and Pennsylvania will follow a series of concerts with Honkytonk Homeslice (Billy Nershi, String Cheese Incident) and come weeks before the release of the band's first live album, due out on SCI Fidelity Records in January 2006.

Railroad Earth's New Year's Eve run includes a stop at the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA on Dec. 29 and a two-night stand at the Theatre of the Living Arts (TLA) in Philadelphia on Dec. 30-31. This holiday mini-tour is a first for the sextet.  In the past, the band has rung in the New Year with a performance near its headquarters in New Jersey, and the band's management is pleased with the schedule of performances. "The band thoroughly enjoys performing at both the State Theatre and the TLA," said management.  "We couldn't be happier about returning to these venues for another successful run of shows."

RRE Announces Dates w/ Honkytonk Homeslice

Railroad Earth @ The Gathering of the Vibes- for the Grateful Web

New Jersey-based national touring act Railroad Earth has announced it will play a four-night run of shows in December with Honkytonk Homeslice (Bill Nershi, String Cheese Incident and Jilian Nershi).  The shows signal a growing kinship with the SCI family; Railroad Earth has teamed up with SCI's record label, SCI Fidelity, for the release of the sextet's first live album, due out in January 2006.

The four-night musical match up kicks off on Dec. 8 at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY and continues the next evening in Boston with a performance at the Paradise Rock Club.  A stop at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on Dec. 10 and a final show at the recently re-named 8x10 Club in Baltimore will close out the mini-tour. Both sides of this venture are excited about coming together to make music.  For Railroad Earth's part, the opportunity to share the stage with the Nershi's ever evolving side-project was an appealing proposition. "The chance to play with [Nershi] is one we could not pass up and we are looking forward to exploring our newfound association onstage for this four-night tour," said Railroad Earth's management.

For their part, it is no secret that some members of the String Cheese Incident have been smitten with Railroad Earth's unique blend of bluegrass, folk, roots music and rock.  In an interview with the Denver Post in late June, SCI bassist Keith Moseley stated that Railroad Earth's "finely crafted songwriting and clever arrangements" make them one of his favorite bands. Honkytonk Homeslice (HTHS) features Bill Nershi (String Cheese Incident) and Jilian Nershi, as well as a regularly changing line-up of honorary members.  Built on intimate performances rich in harmonies and hot guitar playing, HTHS was founded in 2004 as an outlet for Bill to pursue different musical directions and as a platform for Jilian's vocal talents.
