The Avett Brothers @ Boulder Theater

North Carolina's Avett Brothers play acoustic music that has roots in traditional folk and bluegrass, but also captures the high spirits and no-boundaries attitude of rock & roll -- which is appropriate, since rock is where Scott Avett and Seth Avett cut their teeth as musicians.

avettTheir songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, is really why people are talking, and why so many sing along.

They are a reality in a world of entertainment built with smoke and mirrors, and when they play, the common man can break the mirrors and blow the smoke away, so that all that's left behind is the unwavering beauty of the songs. That's the commotion, that's the celebration, and wherever The Avett Brothers are tonight, that's what you'll find.

Cary Brothers: New dates, Songs & Ryan Adams cover

Cary Brothers- for the Grateful Web

Cary Brothers is returning to the stage with two exclusive performances in March.  It's been a full year since Cary toured America, as the last time was in March/April 08 to support his debut album "Who You Are", with Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Sara Bareilles on the hugely popular Hotel Cafe Tour which he co-founded 5 years ago.

Cary has been in the studio for a latter part of 2008 and will preview a couple of tracks in the sets, like "Break Off The Bough," "Ghost Town," "After The Fall," and "Under Control" which will be on his, as of yet untitled, upcoming album.

See Cary Brothers video blog 2009.1 in which he previews a snippet of his new song "Ghost Town". He also plays an amazing cover of Ryan Adams' "Come Pick Me Up".

Last year, Cary Brothers "Ride" was remixed by the world famous DJ/producer Tiësto and the track became a European dance floor hit. Tiësto invited Cary to perform live on stage with him during his headlining slot at the Bonnaroo Festival and Tiësto's sold-out 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in London on 8/8/08. Besides the live shows in Europe, Japan and America, Cary also made several TV appearances, like Jimmy Kimmel and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

GIBSON BROTHERS SET TO RELEASE IRON & DIAMONDS

The Gibson Brothers- for the Grateful Web

Sugar Hill Records is set to release their fourth album with bluegrass stalwarts The Gibson Brothers on April 8, 2008. Iron & Diamonds showcases the brothers' trademark harmonies as well as songwriting that is among the best in the genre.  Interspersed with original songs like the title track - a snapshot of the miners' baseball league in their upstate-NY home - are carefully chosen covers like Tom Petty's "Cabin Down Below" and others.

Iron & Diamonds boasts the brothers' best vocal mix to date thanks to being able to record live on one mike, capturing the energy and closeness that concert audiences rave about. The band - Mike Barber on bass, Clayton Campbell on fiddle, and Rick Hayes on mandolin - is tighter than ever, complementing the brothers' harmonies with adept instrumental performances.

Leigh and Eric Gibson have been performing together since encouraged in their youth by a minister in the borderlands of upstate New York, where they still reside. They received a Best Emerging Artist nod from the IBMA in 1998 and went on to record three albums for Sugar Hill Records - Bona Fide, Long Way Back Home, and Red Letter Day.

Keller Williams, Ratdog, and The Allman Brothers = Guitar Fest!

On August 18th, 2007 at the Tweeter Center in Camden, the sounds of powerful guitar combinations took center stage. Most people who love music equate the summertime with sitting on blanket on a lawn or dancing barefoot on the lawn of an amphitheater and enjoying the fruits of their favorite bands. This is what this show represented for a lot of people. These musicians have been staples to our scene for years, and for the most part, they haven't missed a beat.

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS

williams

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS were molded on the streets of Oakland, California during the seventies (the only "white boys" on Salisbury Street) listening to their parents vast blues & country vinyl collection, the funk that flowed out of boomboxes (pre hip-hop), and the psychedelic folk rock that blossomed in the East Bay Area during that time. So it was inevitable that the brothers followed their families lineage of song and dance men (Gr,Gr,Gr,Great Grandpa penned the traditional favorite, "Sweet Betsy from Pike" in mid 1800's. Gr,Gr,Grandpa had a country swing big band that toured the US extensively in the 1910s-1920s), After moving to Roseville, Ca the brothers started putting together their first groups in the mid-eighties. (Uncle John's Band, 922, the Homegrown Boogie Band).

A WILLIAMS BROTHERS show features intertwining songs and extended improv induced jams fueled by any and all auditory stimulus to have ever sounded, there is no genre or barrier that is considered unusable, all previous artists are an influence in one way or another, it is true old school original jam music. JAMES WILLIAMS vocals are inspired by the grit of JIM MORRISON, the soul of OTIS REDDING and the personal experience of JERRY GARCIA. PHILLIP WILLIAMS plays lead guitar with a deep blues style that is noticeably influenced by JIMI HENDRIX, DUANE ALLMAN, ALVIN LEE and at times with a fluidity that is eerily reminiscent of JERRY GARCIA. Whether solo, together as "ACOUSTIC WB" or with their back-up group THE HOMEGROWN BOOGIE BAND, WILLIAMS BROTHERS shows are always full of surprises & special guests. it is never the same show twice.

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS BAND hit #1 on the mp3.com Blues charts 12/19/06 with JOHNNY THE SQUIRREL, coupled by DEEP ELEM BLUES which was simultaneously perched at #7. DEEP ELEM BLUES went on to hit #1 01/12/07. Both songs spent 4 weeks in the top 20.

TWBB has released a total of four albums (Three live recordings & one studio release), and have countless live bootleg recordings circulating throughout the tape trading ranks. GJ Free Press Aug 2005; That has Operations Manager Clara Ward feeling pretty confident about the Williams Brothers Band performance scheduled for Friday at the gardens, considering they were the biggest draw of last summer's concert series. "They brought in the most people last year so we thought we'd better have them back," Ward said. "They were a lot of fun.""

Natchez Bound & The Millbridge Brothers at The Dam

Michelle from Natchez Brown- for the Grateful Web

The Dam Mountain Jam is a new night of music that happens every Thursday at Cactus Jack's Saloon in downtown Evergreen, starting at 9:00.  It began as a few friends looking for an outlet for their songwriting and acoustic music, and has quickly grown into the best thing going in Evergreen - a crowd of friends and music lovers keeping things cozy, good beer and good vibes from the friendly folks at Jack's, and best of all, sweet music pouring from the stage all night long, from the simple and soulful to the rockin' and rowdy.

Every week you'll hear Natchez Bound and The Millbridge Brothers. Natchez Bound started off as an acoustic side project of the band Purple Buddha and has grown into a full-blown band with Isaac on guitar and vocals, Michelle on vocals, Stork on bass, Dominick on mandolin, guitar and vocals, Christopher on percussion, and Les on the drum kit.

The Millbridge Brothers are a recently reunited band that started off in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania a few years back and eventually landed in Evergreen. The band is Rob on guitar, banjo, harmonica, and vocals, Dominick on guitar, mandolin, and vocals, John on percussion, keys, and vocals, and Matty on bass. We're really excited to be getting it going again, and soon we'll be playing with Sam on drums. We often have special guests, which in the past have ranged from solo songwriters to bluegrass to funk and jam bands. So far it's been a growing family of musicians and friends, and if you're reading this, that probably includes you, thanks for coming out to party with us. See ya Thursday.

Mountain Jamming w/ The Allman Brothers Band

The first thing I see as I enter the top of Red Rocks is the full moon just barely sitting on the Colorado horizon. It's got that dusky, orange glow and an uncanny resemblance of, well, dare I say, a Georgia peach. It sat center-stage and shined like a beacon getting brighter and brighter the higher it went.
