10th Anniversary Production of The Christmas Revels

Founded in 2000, Rocky Mountain Revels is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to promoting public education, understanding, and appreciation of traditional music, dance, drama, and ritual through participatory theater and communal celebration.

We have created Revels productions of Medieval, Renaissance, pan-Celtic, Victorian, Scottish, Irish Immigrants, and Colorado Pioneers. Each year, beginning in the late summer, nearly 100 people from all over the greater Boulder and Denver area come together to rehearse and create a production with full historical costumes, live traditional music, and authentic dance and theater.

Revels productions are a unique blend of amateur and professional performers. Guest artists appearing with Rocky Mountain Revels have included North American step dancing champion Alexandra Siega, Native American flutist Leon Littlebird, folk artist David Jones, Boulder Philharmonic concertmaster Gregory Walker, and many others.

Mountain Standard Time featuring special guest Michael Kang

As a bluegrass band that's anything but traditional, Mountain Standard Time follows in the footsteps of such Colorado greats as The String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon. While leading acoustically with guitar, mandolin, and banjo, MST brands its own style, boasting a big, full-band sound with saxophone, electric bass, drums, and electric effects.

The members of Mountain Standard Time hail from all over the country, yet their musical paths crossed in Nederland - a small, Colorado mountain town steeped in bluegrass music. Whether you chalk it up to fate or coincidence, music goers everywhere are coming together to enjoy the "explosive bluegrass" that these six friends and musicians have come to create. MST has performed all over Colorado and across the country, with appearances at Wakarusa Music Festival, 10,000 Lakes Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival contest finals, among other events.

Mountain Standard Time's roots stem from late night "picks" among the bluegrass faithful, making music lovers dance from mountain towns to backwoods campfires. Rich lyrics, original melodies, vocal harmonies and driving back beats have been moving fans across the country, while the band's unique charisma has been winning hearts. More Info / Buy Tickets

Keller Williams Announces Fall Tour, New Album

On the heels of much-praised summer festival plays and the release of his first-ever all covers collection, Thief, Keller Williams’ today announces some exciting fall plans. In addition to his always popular live performance making stops in western states this season, Keller today expands his touring (and recording) horizons to include kids and families - no kidding!

With the October 26, 2010 release of his first-ever album for kids and families – appropriately titled KidsKeller Williams once again breaks new ground, proving his infectious spirit, quick wit and incredible musicianship speaks to music lovers of all ages. Keller will introduce his new Kids tunes as a “Super Music Friend” along select Yo Gabba Gabba tour dates this fall. Keller’s complete list of currently confirmed fall tour stops is included below.

A true original, Keller Williams has already won the hearts and imaginations of a seething tide of young adults who are musically “in the know.” With his sixteenth album, Kids, Keller stakes out his next conquest – the absolute adoration of the under-10 crowd and their parents, caregivers, and relatives. With Kids, Keller creates a style of family music that’s all his own and reaches his young audience in a way that matters. For the album, Keller takes influences of traditional bluegrass, “Chester & Lester” innovative guitar technique, Robin Williams, and Bobby McFerrin and transports them to warp level. And though Keller’s virtuosity extends through his phenomenal instrumental technique and range of vocal styles and effects, he never allows his supreme musicianship to get in the way of the pure joy of the music. Keller Williams’ high standards are unfailingly preserved in Kids.

Long considered one of the most unique and prolific performers in all of rock, the Fredericksburg, Virginia native has built a career on his uncanny ability to captivate a packed house—all by himself. He’s been called a “one-man band.” A “solo cult-hero.” “Music’s mad-scientist.” All of which are clever labels for what seems to be an essential truth: On stage, Keller Williams works alone. For over 100 shows a year, Williams has proven himself to be a master of improvisational performance art. In his one-man show, he pads barefoot from guitar to bass to percussion stations, using looping effects—and enough instruments to stock a strip- mall music store—to layer sound atop sound until the stage swirls with a full-blown composition.

All-Stars Unite on Jerry Jams for Rex

August 9, 2010 marks the 15-year anniversary of legendary musician and Grateful Dead co-founder Jerry Garcia’s death. As a way to honor his musical and community legacy, the gifted musicians on this compilation have generously contributed stirring live performances of Jerry Garcia songs to benefit the Rex Foundation. Available August 10 in a variety of formats (see below), Jerry Jams for Rex was brought to life by Brad Serling of nugs.net and includes four exclusive previously unreleased live Garcia songs from Phish, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, The String Cheese Incident, and Keller & The Keels. Other artists featured on the album include The Black Crowes, Yonder Mountain String Band and more. All proceeds are a contribution to the Rex Foundation.

Furthering what Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead started 26 years ago, the Rex Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization, endeavors to fund grassroots programs that are often under the radar of larger funding entities, yet work in bold, innovative ways to carry out essential work toward a healthy environment, promotion of the arts, protection of indigenous cultures, assisting others less fortunate, building strong communities, and educating children and adults. The Rex Foundation has distributed $8.6 million in grants to over 1,000 programs across the U.S. and internationally, while also carrying out fundraising initiatives that foster creativity and positive community connections. Visit www.rexfoundation.org for a complete list of grantees and information about current initiatives.

Jerry Jams for Rex is possible because of the honorable contributions of music, resources and know-how of the participating artists and people involved in the initiative. The Rex Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the generosity of spirit and action of all the people involved in creating Jerry Jams for Rex, as well as to all the people who purchase the compilation. Kyle Hollingsworth Announces SCI Red Rocks Pre-Party

In anticipation of this summer’s sold-out String Cheese Incident run at Red Rocks July 23-25, Kyle Hollingsworth will host Kyle’s Brew Fest, a kick-off party at Denver’s Great Divide Brewery on Thursday, July 22, to benefit Conscious Alliance. In addition to being a prolific musician, Hollingsworth has long been a fan of microbrews and specialty beers; in fact he’s been brewing his own beer at home for years. For more than a decade, Hollingsworth has performed as keyboardist for Colorado’s String Cheese Incident, most recently in his own project Kyle Hollingsworth Band, and as a special guest in countless other projects.

Along his most recent KHB tour, Hollingsworth found the perfect way to blend his love of brewing with his love for music: Brew Tours. His band invited local breweries to participating venues for tastings, meet and greets, and more. He returns this summer with Kyle’s Brew Fest, presented by Kyle Hollingsworth, Great Divide Brewing, The Mountain Sun Brewery, and Deschutes Brewery where he has teamed up with several breweries to offer fans beer tastings, exclusive brews including Hoppingsworth IPA (created by Hollingsworth himself with The Mountain Sun Brewery) and much more.

A very limited number of tickets will be sold for this intimate affair and all proceeds will benefit not-for-profit Conscious Alliance, a group that organizes food drives at concerts and sporting events to collect food donations to benefit local food pantries and impoverished Indian reservations throughout the U.S.

Included in the ticket price is a limited edition Kyle’s Brew Fest logo pint glass, several drink tickets, one 2-oz taster per brewery (participating breweries include Great Divide Brewing, The Mountain Sun Brewery, Deschutes Brewery, Avery Brewing, Boulder Beer, Ska Brewing, Stone Brewing, Trinity Brewing, Upslope Brewing and others), delicious Mountain Sun grilled food, an opportunity to bid at the Silent Auction (which features rock memorabilia from the scene’s favorite artists) and an exclusive performance from Kyle Hollingsworth Band.

Keller Williams releases brand new album, Thief, today

Today, Keller Williams releases his first-ever all-covers collection, amusingly titled Thief. Recorded with the Keels—husband and wife duo Larry and Jenny Keel—Thief includes songs originally written and recorded by as wildly diverse an assemblage as anyone’s ever likely to dream up.

Thief offers up Keller-versions of songs by an [almost] unthinkable collection of artists: from Amy Winehouse (“Rehab”) to the Grateful Dead (“Mountains of the Moon”), the Butthole Surfers (“Pepper”) to Kris Kristofferson (“Don’t Cuss That Fiddle,” which opens the album, and “The Year 2003 Minus 25,” which closes the album). The set is filled out with tunes by Ryan Adams, the Presidents of the United States of America, the Raconteurs, Patterson Hood, Danny Barnes, Cracker, the Yonder Mountain String Band and Marcy Playground. All over the place, indeed, but that’s the way Williams likes it. And in his hands it all makes sense—like everything he’s ever touched, whether from his own pen or someone else’s, it all becomes Keller Williams' music.

Those who purchase Keller’s new album, Thief, at Keller’s Official Merch Store by August 31, 2010, will be automatically entered into The “Keller and The Keels On Your Couch” sweepstakes. The contest offers a chance to win a 90 minute private acoustic performance by Keller and The Keels in the winner’s living room for them and up to 49 of their friends.

Keller is on tour this summer - at solo shows, with The Keels, and even for a run of gigs as vocalist/guitarist in The Rhythm Devils, the project by Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his partner percussionist Mickey Hart.
