Amelia's Mechanics Announces Plans for New Album + Tour Dates

Amelia's Mechanics is fronted by Greensboro, NC singer-songwriter's Molly McGinn and Molly Miller and backed by a talented group of musicians out of Nashville, TN. Despite what the oil-and-iron name might suggest, the women of Amelia's Mechanics swap that toughness for a more urban, sophisticated take on Americana music, using luxuriating harmonies and classical swells to temper their lyrical frustrations with love and life. The instrumentation and vocal harmonies of Amelia's Mechanics result in a genre-busting sound best described as "vintage country with a moonshine concerto."
The band released their debut album "North, South," produced by Jim Avett (father, The Avett Brothers,) in February of 2010 to critical acclaim and embarked on an inaugural tour pleasing audiences from Florida to West Virginia. Select performances in May will feature support from guitarist Daryl Hance (guitarist, J.J. Grey & Mofro.)
Amelia's Mechanics will begin recording a follow-up album this summer in Asheville, NC at the wonderful Echo Mountain Studios (Smashing Pumpkins, The Avett Brothers, Band of Horses) with three-time Grammy-winner Steven Heller (producer, David Holt's Stellaluna, Doc Watson's Legacy) and fellow Greensboro, NC singer-songwriter Laurelyn Dossett (songwriter, Ana Lee) at the helm. A release date has not been set for the new album.

MOUNTAIN JAM ADDS ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION TO FESTIVAL LINEUP

Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas have joined the lineup for the 6th annual Mountain Jam Music Festival. Krauss is the recipient of a staggering 27 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for her collaboration with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Raising Sand. She is the most awarded female artist (and the second most awarded artist overall), in Grammy history.

Legendary drummer for The Band and longtime local Woodstock resident Levon Helm will celebrate his 70th Birthday by closing Mountain Jam on Sunday, June 6th with a little help from a few well-known friends. Billed as “Levon Helm & Friends,” the performance will feature a number of world class guests, many of whom will make the trip to Hunter, NY solely to pay homage to one of the most important musicians in rock history. Helm’s influence continues to be felt by a new generation of indie, folk, and jamband musicians, and the drummer won Grammys for both 2007’s Dirt Farmer and 2009’s Electric Dirt.

Having recently collaborated onstage at the world famous Apollo Theater, the ever soulful Ray LaMontagne will bring his raspy voice and guitar to Levon Helm’s set. Hardcore troubadour Steve Earle, having appeared already at Levon’s Midnight Ramble, will travel to Mountain Jam for the first time as part of the drummer’s birthday bash, while noted singer/songwriter Jackie Greene, a two-time Mountain Jam veteran, will also join in the celebration.

“We are going to make this a night to remember forever, as some of the greatest musicians in the world come together to be a part of the celebration of a true rock & roll legend who has meant so much to so many for so long. We expect to announce more guests in the coming weeks,” says Mountain Jam founder and promoter, Gary Chetkof.

Levon Helm will also welcome many of Mountain Jam’s previously confirmed performers, including Gov’t Mule/Allman Brothers Band frontman and festival co-presenter Warren Haynes, as well as Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers. Patterson will appear alongside his father, David Hood, who has toured and recorded with classic artists such as Traffic, Simon & Garfunkel, The Staple Singers, Aretha Franklin, and many more.

Allison Moorer, who will perform on The Awareness Village Acoustic Stage earlier in the afternoon, will join her husband, Steve Earle, on stage with Levon. Others are expected to confirm their participation in the next few weeks.

The Mountain Jam Festival will return to Hunter, NY from Friday, June 4th-Sunday, June 6th, 2010. Single day tickets are now on sale at www.mountainjam.com for Saturday and Sunday at a price of $79.00 and $89.00 respectively, and a limited number of single day VIP tickets are also available at a price of $186.00 for Saturday and $199.00 for Sunday. Festival tickets for the 3 days are currently on sale for $166.50 including camping, and $141.50 without camping. All ticket pricing is tiered, so that prices will be raised after allotments are met.

2 Nights of EOTO at the Fox Theater

From dance halls to intimate theaters worldwide comes EOTO - the nation’s top innovator in glitchy electronic, bass thumping, dub-step themed music. With performances booked well into 2010 including a special two-night run at the Fox Theater, EOTO is taking the country by storm with their innovative brand of live electronic music.

What EOTO achieves on stage is nothing short of astounding. Performed with all of the bells and whistles of a traditional electronic artist plus the addition of live drums, vocals, bass and guitar, the duo creates each and every bass ridden noise right before your eyes -without the addition of a single pre-recorded track. Known for their 100% live improvised performance, EOTO is breaking ground into a new sub culture of music while standing with some of the nations best live DJ’s in the country.

With leagues of sold-out theater performances in 2009, the project started out as an avenue for the duo to blow off steam and generally just have a good time playing around with technology with music. Now, a full time project for the pair with a seemingly endless tour featuring over 600 shows in 4 years and sold out performances in every market in the country. With no signs of stopping, EOTO fine-tunes their approach and skill with each and every show they play, leaving the next performance more unique then the last.

The project will be careening the countryside in 2010 with back-to-back performances scheduled well into late spring and festival dates booked swiftly behind it. The project will be playing along the mountain west and up the west coast before heading back to middle America, through the South, and over to the East Coast in support of their third release, Fire The Lazers, which is now available on iTunes or at a show near you.

Magnolia Row | West End Tavern | 2.16.10

Magnolia Row played to a sardine can crowd for Fat Tuesday at the West End Tavern in Boulder on 2/16/2010.  I have heard a Yonder Mountain String Band bootleg where in the middle of “My Darling One” he proclaims to the crowd how kewl they all are.

From the beginning, the What If? Foundation has been in partnership with the St. Clare’s community of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Our success is made possible through the collaborative efforts of members of St. Clare’s, who prepare and serve thousands of food program meals every week, enroll students into school, and run an annual summer camp. This commitment and expertise, combined with the financial resources provided by the What If? Foundation is what makes these desperately needed programs possible.

Mountain Jam Lineup Announcement: June 4-6 Hunter, NY

Radio Woodstock and guitarist Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) are proud to announce that the Mountain Jam Music Festival (www.mountainjam.com) will return to Hunter, NY from Friday, June 4th-Sunday, June 6th, 2010.

GOV'T MULE will anchor the multi-band bill for the sixth year in a row with two headlining performances. Haynes' fellow Allman Brothers Band guitarist DEREK TRUCKS will introduce a new band featuring his wife, singer SUSAN TEDESCHI, to Mountain Jam. The new group will feature an original mixture of rock, soul, blues and roots songs by Trucks and Tedeschi, both of whom received 2010 Grammy Award nominations. Mountain Jam favorites MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD, hot off the success of their breakthrough song, 'Say Hey (I Love You),' will make an exclusive northeast summer festival appearance with their return to Mountain Jam for a 5th consecutive year.

Mountain Jam's initial lineup also includes many performers who are making their debut at the Festival, including current indie darlings THE AVETT BROTHERS, touring behind their major label debut, I and Love and You, Primus bassist LES CLAYPOOL, performing a late-night outdoor set on the Mountain, reggae architect TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS, Colorado jamgrass sensations YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND, Hassidic reggae star MATISYAHU, ALO, LETTUCE, JONATHAN TYLER & THE NORTHERN LIGHTS, ELMWOOD and THE LONDON SOULS.

Building on Mountain Jam's tradition of bringing legendary performers to the Mountain, this year's lineup will feature Traffic guitarist DAVE MASON. The author of such classics as 'Feelin Alright' and 'Sad and Deep As You,' Mason has shared the stage with Gov't Mule and the Allman Brothers Band in recent years. Haynes has also paid tribute to Mason by covering 'Sad and Deep As You' both with the Allman Brothers Band and during his solo sets. Additionally, DARK STAR ORCHESTRA will channel the magic of the Grateful Dead in their second Mountain Jam appearance.

Many more bands will be announced in the coming months, with 40 bands to appear on the 4 stages throughout the weekend. In addition to the two main outdoor showcase stages, live music will also be heard on the indoor Colonel's Hall Stage and an outdoor Acoustic Stage.

We are really honored to be able to present such an amazing array of some of the best live musicians in the world, said Mountain Jam Founder and Radio Woodstock President, Gary Chetkof. The music is and has always been the focus of Mountain Jam, and the artists on our bill will be bringing just the right energy and vibe to our mountaintop.  For 3 days people will come together to enjoy the immense beauty of the Mountain, reinvigorate their spirit, and share in the creation of new friendships and experiences.

Originally conceived as a celebration for Radio Woodstock's 25th anniversary, Mountain Jam has grown into an annual stop for some of the biggest names in live music. Since its 2005 inception, Mountain Jam has hosted the likes of The Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, Bob Weir & RatDog, Richie Havens, Drive-By Truckers, Dr. Dog, Medeski Martin and Wood, Mike Gordon, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Jackie Greene, G. Love & Special Sauce, Ozomatli, Galactic, Xavier Rudd, Umphrey's McGee, Brett Dennen, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, and Robert Randolph & The Family Band, among many others.

The Hunter Mountain Lodge will provide fans with 24-hour access to both food and indoor bathrooms, while onsite camping and a smorgasbord of nearby hotels and lodges will ensure that all attendees have a wide variety of accommodations. Mountain Jam will once again offer expanded VIP options, and will bring back its highly acclaimed Tavern in the Woods featuring a private bar area and hammocks, as well as a shaded hospitality tent, and a variety of gourmet food and beverages.

Hunter Mountain is located within a short drive from anywhere in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and is considered the unofficial kick-off to the northeast festival season. Fans unable to attend will be able to experience the music as well, thanks to the festival's interactive blog and innovative webcast.

A limited number of discounted, Early Bird Festival Tickets and VIP Tickets will go on sale this Monday, January 25th, at 10AM EST through www.mountainjam.com. The Early Bird 3-Day Festival Passes are $141.50 or $161.50 with camping. A limited number of Early Bird VIP Passes will be available for $404.50. Ticket pricing is tiered, so that prices will be raised after allotments are met. Tickets will also be made available at www.mule.net.

A very small number of RV tickets are available at $205, plus a camping festival ticket.  Single day tickets will be available at a later date - there will be no Friday Only single day tickets issued.
