Melvin Seals & The JGB Band coming to the River Theater

This press release is to proudly announce that local west Sonoma County lighting design company Liquid Light Productions has taken up management of the historic River Theater in Guerneville and to announce our first Music event.

Gathering of the Vibes 2006 | Review & Photos

We need not recap the 11 year history of this wondrous event, held for five years now at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY.  We need no account of the heartfelt and soulful preparation put in by the original "Deadhead Heaven" promoters, Terrapin Tapes and Dupree's Diamond News, to commemorate the life and music of Jerry Garcia.  These details have been covered numerous times in other reports.  All we need is to be here now, or at lea

Tom Waits | Thomas Wolfe Auditorium | Asheville, NC

You may have heard already, or maybe you sensed it someplace inside your bones. Tom Waits is touring. This rare treat began down south on August 1st and gallops toward the mid west while I write this. The tour, only eight performances, is promoting Waits' yet to be released three disc set called, Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards.

Floydfest 5: Roots Alive

"There's a garish, yellow thing in the sky we've never seen here at Floydfest before," remarked guitarist and vocalist Jeb Puryear of Floydfest veterans, Donna the Buffalo.   "I think we'll call it the sun."  This year, among several additions to Floyd, VA's near perfect annual music festival in the Blue Ridge Mountains, was agreeable weather.  Though the sky remained cloudy for most of the weekend and spilled a slight, ten-minute rain in remembrance of last year's downpour, festival goers celebrated the fifth anniversary of Floydfest with kites, sunglasses and closed umbrellas.

Grateful Web does the 10KLF Part III

Well, the fourth annual 10K Festival is under our belts now, with a Saturday line up that equaled Thursdays and Fridays. Keller Williams show was so packed they had to turn people away, and Trey's show was awesome with no Phish music in sight. (Phil in fact did not stay around to jam indecently.) He played some new stuff, a couple off his solo album, closed out the show with a couple of covers, Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who and Get Back from the Beatles. I queried a lot of people over the three days I was there, and everyone said the same thing - it was just a great festival.

The Raconteurs | Fillmore Auditorium | Denver

It's hot out tonight. The temp in Denver is over 100 degrees. The weather man will tell you it has something to do with the Heat Index, I say it's because The Raconteurs are playing the Fillmore tonight and they brought the scorching heat with them.

JGB | Fox Theater | Boulder, Colorado

The night started out cold and rainy, which is almost as unlikely in Boulder as the Jerry Garcia Band has been.  Ironically, I inquired to my wife about two weeks before the announcement of the show, while listening to the JGB recording from Kean College 1980 about when they will play in Boulder again.  I saw them play in San Diego last summer, but I
