Acclaimed, award-winning artist Jason Isbell has announced tour dates in support of the July 17 release of Something More Than Free, his highly anticipated fifth album (Southeastern Records). Isbell will be touring extensively with his band The 400 Unit, featuring Derry Deborja (Keys), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass) and Sadler Vaden (guitar). The tour will include stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Seattle and Portland. (see tour dates below).

While classic rock giants such as the Rolling Stones, The Who, and even the Dead are booking gargantuan sport stadiums, legends of jazz have a distinctly different approach. Popularity aside, jazz naturally thrives in intimate venues. The music wouldn’t sustain it’s full power in much larger than a cozy theatre. The comparison is only novelty since jazz necessitates more attention of its audience. In the late 1960s certain jazz musicians were growing tired of clichés about jazz becoming less mainstream with rock ‘n’ roll music then dominating the pop charts.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, the charity founded in memory of the late rock singer, was one of the designated charities of last week's Monsters of Rock Caribbean Cruise on the MSC Divina from Miami to Nassau in the Bahamas. The five-day trip included daily activities to raise money for the Dio Cancer Fund's important work in cancer research and prevention.
