Seventeen years ago in September, the iconic American rock band the Grateful Dead announced a well-thought but difficult decision. Without their fallen band mate Jerry Garcia, who had passed that August, they would not be able to continue touring as the band Grateful Dead. It was a tough choice to make as certain band members were divided about what should become of their future tours or even the possibility of continuing without Jerry.
Furthur has announced another Winter Tour on the front range of the Colorado Rockies, including their first gig the Ogden Theater in Denver and their 7th, 8th and 9th shows @ the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado (between Denver and Boulder).
This marks the 4th year in a row either Furthur or Phil and Friends (last Feb) will play the newly renovated venue.

The All Good Music Festival has been around for 16 years, but for the first time since 2003 it was held away from Marvin’s Mountaintop in West Virginia. Once again the festival held up to its reputation for inspiring acts to put on big things.With Gathering of the Vibes happening in the same weekend, the festival had a dominant feel of Midwest in the air.

Quite the opposite from my experience last year of being the hottest I have ever been in my entire life (record breaking 100 degree temperature with all humidity?! Makes this Colorado guy weary!) Regardless, the continuing drizzle didn’t stop any of the fun. If anything the crowd was thinner and more relaxed all day.

This year I have the distinct pleasure of covering the 17th annual Gathering of the Vibes festival, which is celebrating its eigth year in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bridgeport is a diverse city on the Connecticut shoreline off of the Long Island Sound. The venue, Seaside Park, has hosted the Gathering all these years and by all counts is an incredible site.
