In less than a month, Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio will be opening its gates once again for The Werk Out Music Festival. This event, hosted August 7, 8, and 9th is in its fifth year is one you should not miss. The lineup features some of the best bands from around the Midwest, combined with exquisite visual and performance artists. This festival truly shows what the Midwest is about: good music, good friends, and good memories.
Folks checking out Turkuaz this week will find a slightly modified band: front-man, guitarist and co-founder Dave Brandwein has been sidelined with either a tendon or nerve issue that has affected his right hand since the band’s May 2 date at Howlin’ Wolf during New Orleans Jazz Fest. Turkuaz is bringing close friend and Dopapod keyboardist, Eli Winderman, in to fill out Turkuaz’s normally very big sound.
Arguably the Northeast’s two most up-and-coming, improvisational ridden bands on the scene today, Dopapod and Kung Fu will be joining forces to tour Colorado at the end of January 2014. The run will include stops in Boulder and Breckenridge, and feature two STS9 after-party shows in Denver. While the two bands will swap closing sets, the order of each night will not be announced.
Denver’s party rockers Kinetix will join forces with genre-bending Dopapod for a special show July 12th at Fox Theater in Boulder, CO. Special guests Astronomix open the show. Known for their outrageous high-energy shows blending party rock, funk, pop, hip hop and live electronica, Kinetix has been a fixture on the festival circuit including appearances at Wakarusa, 10k Lakes, Summer Camp, Shagri La, Forecastle, Bella Mente Snowball, and many more.Dynamic.
