Dopapod

Having long cultivated a reputation as a go-for-broke live juggernaut, Dopapod is set for their biggest summer yet with performances at Bonnaroo, High Sierra, Electric Forest, the infamous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, and most everywhere else in between.  To cap things off, the band has announced a string of West Coast dates in July.  This marks Dopapod's first voyage all the way out west, a move that the foursome are anxiously awaiting to make.

After an amazing New Year’s run that began 2015 with a packed audience in Worcester, MA, Dopapod is exploding out of the gate for the year announcing a lengthy spring tour along with the news of their debut at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.  Multiple night stands highlight the spring run with weekend-long stints at The Sinclair in Boston April 17 - 19 and April 24, 25 at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Stuck somewhere between obscure, psychedelic Frank Zappa B-sides and the soundtracks to retro Sega Genesis videogames you’ll find the ultra-versatile, moog-driven sounds of Northeast-based jam quartet Dopapod. Between the recent release of their fourth studio effort Never Odd or Even, and an extensive collection of East Coast and Midwest dates alongside the incomparable Umphrey’s McGee, it’s clear the future is looking exceedingly bright for the progressive dance-rock group.

Northeast based, always-touring Dopapod today announces the first performances of 2015 happening up and down the Eastern U.S. in late February through early March, ending with a two night stand at Florida’s AURA Music Festival. Supporting artists joining Dopapod on the variety of dates on the tour include Moon Hooch & Mike Dillon Band.

Dopapod is thrilled to announce the independent release of their next full-length record Never Odd Or Even, dropping November 11.  So that all can hear the latest effort, the band is now offering signups to access free digital downloads of the disc upon its release.  To get a copy, fans can visit the band’s official website at www.dopapod.com and sign up on the email list to be sent a link to download a free digital version of the

Dopapod and The New Mastersounds are teaming up January 2 & 3, 2015 for two Phish after parties in Miami, Florida. Presented by Grand Central and AURA Music & Arts Festival, the venue is located just three blocks from American Airlines Arena.

In less than a month, Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio will be opening its gates once again for The Werk Out Music Festival.  This event, hosted August 7, 8, and 9th is in its fifth year is one you should not miss. The lineup features some of the best bands from around the Midwest, combined with exquisite visual and performance artists. This festival truly shows what the Midwest is about: good music, good friends, and good memories.

Folks checking out Turkuaz this week will find a slightly modified band: front-man, guitarist and co-founder Dave Brandwein has been sidelined with either a tendon or nerve issue that has affected his right hand since the band’s May 2 date at Howlin’ Wolf during New Orleans Jazz Fest. Turkuaz is bringing close friend and Dopapod keyboardist, Eli Winderman, in to fill out Turkuaz’s normally very big sound.

Arguably the Northeast’s two most up-and-coming, improvisational ridden bands on the scene today, Dopapod and Kung Fu will be joining forces to tour Colorado at the end of January 2014.  The run will include stops in Boulder and Breckenridge, and feature two STS9 after-party shows in Denver.  While the two bands will swap closing sets, the order of each night will not be announced.

The Werk Out Music and Arts Festival was a great way to close my festival season. Held September 12-14th at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, this festival was full of some the midwest’s favorite musicians and artists. It was an absolutely beautiful weekend to spend outside, although it was a bit chilly at night, the sun was out all weekend.
