Americana/Jamgrass acts Great American Taxi and Poor Man’s Whiskey have announced a cooperative tour that will cover most of northern California and Oregon. The two bands have played a lot of the same festivals but have never shared the same stage until this Halloween when they set out for 9 dates starting in Santa Cruz, CA at Moe’s Alley. Each band will play a full 90 minute set and collaboration between the two
As I arrived at the festival grounds Sunday, August 26th, I regrettably walked in right as Grant Farm was playing their closing chords. I heard their forward-flowing jamgrass sound from the walk down. This Nederland and Front-Range mainstay band led by National Flatpicking Champion Tyler Grant is one of the hottest local bluegrass acts to catch.
In response to the devastating High Park Fires – Great American Taxi has decided to make their July 20th show at the historic Mishawaka Amphitheatre a benefit show for NoCo Rebuilding Network to help those affected by the fires. While the Mishawaka is currently closed due to the threat of fires, they hope to be reopened soon thanks to the hard work of local fire fighters.
The 14th annual NedFest - returning August 24-26, 2012 to the Jeff Guercio Memorial Ballfield on the banks of Barker Reservoir in the beautiful high-country town of Nederland, Colorado - is proud to officially announce its daily scheulde along with single-day ticketing and camping information. Additional artists will be added to the scheulde as "tweeners," which will play in between the main acts, at a later date.
Suwannee Springfest, held March 22-25 at the beautiful Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, Live Oak, Florida was the rainiest, most violently stormy festival I have ever attended, but it was still a great time and the show went on. It rained off and on and then just on until late afternoon Saturday. After lightening struck by our tent and the crescendo of its thunder rang in our ears, the sun did come out in all its glory.
Having lived and worked in Boulder, CO for almost 20 years now, I can’t help but reminisce about how my life has changed since I first moved here from the East Coast in 1992. In July of 2012 I will have officially lived here longer than where I grew up.
The greater Boulder-Denver area is growing as an undeniable mainstay of excellent live music and the culture contained within. We get the likes of the best acts in jazz, rock, jam-band, electronic, and popular music. Something about the devotion and enthusiasm of our crowds keeps bands coming back to this very specific location. Naturally we also have plenty of mainstay bands that grew in popularity out of Boulder-Denver if they weren’t born there to begin with.
