Neither a conventional biopic nor a traditional concert film, JOAN BAEZ I AM A NOISE is a raw and intimate portrait of the legendary folk singer and activist that shifts back and forth through time as it follows Joan on her final tour and delves into her extraordinary archive, including newly discovered home movies, diaries, artwork, therapy tapes, and audio recordings.  Baez is remarkably revealing about her life on and off stage - from her lifelong emotional struggles to her civil rights work with MLK and a heartbreaking romance with a young Bob Dylan.

The Newport Folk Festival, one of the most highly-anticipated events of the summer music season, is set to return July 28-30th. Tickets go on sale to the public on February 1st, 2023 at 1:00 pm EST.

Anew collection of drawings by legendary singer and activist for social justice Joan Baez, AM I PRETTY WHEN I FLY? An Album of Upside Down Drawings, will be published by Godine on April 4 (pre-order).

Joan Baez never imagined painting a portrait of a war hero. But since Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, she has been moved by the “unequivocal and astounding bravery” of its besieged president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and has honored him with a portrait meant to convey the sadness of war, the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the desire for peace.

My first concert was Willie Nelson in January of 1984. I was only eight years old. My mum took me as her date since my dad was sick. We trekked across town to the Universal/Gibson Amphitheatre which was later demolished for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood. I remember it being cold and rainy. Regardless of the weather, Angeleno’s were decked out in their country finest. Dark denim, blinged out belts, rhinestone-embellished cowboy hats and Americana regalia filled the theatre.

“Mischief Makers 2,” the second solo show by iconic folksinger, activist and artist Joan Baez, showcasing her portraits of people making the world a better place, opens January 6 and runs through February 14 at Seager Gray Gallery in Mill Valley, CA.
