Joni Mitchell

The Newport Folk Festival, one of the most highly-anticipated events of the summer music season, is set to return July 28-30th. Tickets go on sale to the public on February 1st, 2023 at 1:00 pm EST.

Music icon Joni Mitchell is this week’s guest on Elton John’s Rocket Hour on Apple Music 1. In this special in-depth chat at Joni’s Los Angeles home, she reveals that she is releasing a new album following her surprise appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in July, which was her first full live performance since 2002.

Today, Aoife O’Donovan stars in an all new NPR Tiny Desk that features the GRAMMY- and Americana Award-winning singer and songwriter performing songs from her acclaimed, Joe Henry-produced (Bonnie Raitt, Rhiannon Giddens) new album Age Of Apathy. As ever, the performance is filled with “musical surprises: daring melodic leaps, unexpected chord progressions, [and] subtle rhythmic shifts” (NY Times).

Nile Rodgers talks songwriting with Graham Nash of the legendary Crosby, Stills & Nash on Deep Hidden Meaning Radio, and hears the stories behind classics like “Marrakesh Express,” “Our House” and “Teach Your Children.” Graham tells Nile how his former band The Hollies' version of “Marrakesh Express” was "terrible,” how they needed to get David Crosby drunk to sing one of his most famous songs and how one of CSN's biggest hits was the result of a bet with a drug dealer.

Brandi Carlile will return to the stage to perform Joni Mitchell’s legendary album Blue in full on November 6 at Carnegie Hall. Tickets for the tribute concert will be available early for fan club members starting tomorrow at 11:00am ET followed by public pre-sale on Wednesday at 11:00am ET and general on-sale on Thursday at 11:00am ET.

Alice Howe, rising voice in modern folk, premieres the video for her interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s timeless classic, “A Case of You” via Americana UK. The video features Howe and her bassist/producer Freebo and drummer MB Gordy performing the song live resulting in an intimate and sincere performance from the trio.

Poetry pours out of John Mailander’s version of Joni Mitchell’s Borderline. The sounds of dripping water, flowing rivers, messy spills, puddles, and pools of wet boggy mashes give way to tubs of bubbles, sunsets, and endless horizons, skies as wide as infinite while nothing is certain or definite. The cinnamon shades of grey Mailander consistently portray pours a warm cup of tea in your earworm. Kristina Train’s vocals creep into the melody like a song in slumber.

Becky Buller’s new album, “Distance and Time” scheduled to be released late October, captures my melancholy feelings surrounding the months of autumn. The season represents immense change, light versus darkness and according to Chinese tradition, sadness as well as courage. It’s not an easy time of year for me, but “Distance and Time” makes the pain a little less overwhelming.

Craft Recordings is thrilled to announce the first-ever vinyl release of Joni Mitchell’s best-selling 2007 album, Shine. Available April 3rd and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, the acclaimed title includes such tracks as “One Week Last Summer” (which received the 2008 GRAMMY® Award for Best Instrumental Pop Performance), and an updated version of Mitchell’s iconic 1970 track “Big Yellow Taxi.”

Let’s rewind to November 25, 1976, on Thanksgiving Eve. The iconic group, The Band, were joined by Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Dr. John, to name a few. This was going to be the official “Farewell Show” in San Francisco (Winterland Ballroom) for the Canadian/American quintet: Helm/Danko/Robertson/Hudson/Manuel.
