Karl Denson

The weather was perfect for a weekend in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Whether it was your first trip or 100th. For me, it was my first trip, but no better excuse to go than a mid-August weekend to see some great music.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe blew into the Boca Raton’s Funky Biscuit for a pair of shows on Thursday and Friday, August 29th and 30th.  Denson’s shows were scheduled around The Rolling Stones concert at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium that was slated for Saturday, August 31st. That show was initially scheduled for April 30th and moved to Saturday, August 31 after Mick Jagger’s heart surgery.

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe has announced 'Thick As Thieves Fall Tour 2019.' Hot off the heels of touring the U.S. this summer as the saxophonist in The Rolling Stones, Denson reconvenes KDTU for a 22-date stretch in October and November, mixing headline performances alongside several dates supporting Thievery Corporation. KDTU headlines shows in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic before connecting with Thievery Corporation for performances in the Northeast and Midwest, including two nights in Canada.

Few bands stick around for thirty years. Even fewer bands leave a legacy during that time that marks them as a truly special, once-in-lifetime type band. And no band has done all that and had as much fun as Leftover Salmon.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, where does someone start? This funk, soul powerhouse brings the ruckus with so much elegance and class. Wednesday night in Jersey City they did just that and then some. The White Eagle Hall was in for a mid-week high energy old school get down right from the get-go. Slightly Stoopid opened tonight setting the tone for Karl Denson to come out for a dueling sax solo to end the rock steady set!

Beach Road Weekend announced a partnership with the Seastreak Ferry for a special late-night service for festival goers. The late-night service provides another option for festival goers to enjoy an entire day of music. The Seastreak will pick up festival goers from Vineyard Haven after the final performances and bring them to New Bedford. Anyone who purchases a ticket for the ferry through Seastreak.com is guaranteed a spot on the boat.

Ever thought of visiting Martha’s Vineyard, or simply looking for an excuse to go back? Beach Road Weekend has got you covered. The three-day music festival starts on Friday, August 9th, with a screening of Jaws with a live orchestra. The rest of the weekend has some great music in store for the island, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty will be headlining Saturday night, along with Vermont’s jam legends Dispatch. Alejandro Escovedo, North Mississippi Allstars, and Mason Jennings will also be performing.

The video features vintage footage of the band over the last 20+ years, a retrospective of many milestones and collaborations in the band’s career, including performances from early days with Bradley Nowell (Sublime), Snoop Dogg (2009), Bob Weir (2011), Karl Denson, Sly and Robbie, Half Pint, and Pepper (2008).

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe has released a video for "Change My Way," the second single from its forthcoming studio album, 'Gnomes & Badgers,' due March 8. Premiered today by Paste Magazine, both the song and video make a poignant statement about the current crisis at the U.S. border.

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe has announced its new studio album 'Gnomes & Badgers' will be released March 8 on Seven Spheres Records. The 11-track effort is KDTU's first new recording in five years.
