Wow! What a long, strange trip it’s been. Here I am at the beginning of a beautiful New England fall, basking in the glowing memories of the best end-of-summer musical celebration Martha’s Vineyard has to offer: Beach Road Weekend Music Festival (BRW). The whole experience reminds me of how lucky we are to have these opportunities to witness such historical once-in-a-lifetime music in the making.

Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges and trailblazing Houston trio Khruangbin’s new EP, Texas Moon officially debuted at #4 on “Top R&B Albums,” #2 on “Vinyl Albums”, #2 on “Top Album Sales,” #2 on “Top Alternative Albums,” #2 on “Top Rock Albums,” and #23 on the “Billboard 200.”

Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges and the otherworldly Houston trio Khruangbin released their collaborative Texas Moon EP, a follow-up to 2020’s acclaimed Texas Sun, recently with praise from The New York Times, NPR, Vulture, Uproxx and more. Today, the pairing shares an animated video for the EP’s sultry slowjam “Chocolate Hills,” a stripped-down song that highlights Bridges’ voice amidst its very own Willy Wonka-treatment.

Two of the acts boldly leading Texas music into the future have delivered a second chapter of their groundbreaking collaboration, further extending the region’s sonic possibilities. Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges, from Ft. Worth, and trailblazing Houston trio Khruangbin have joined for their Texas Moon EP, a follow-up to 2020’s acclaimed Texas Sun.

Khruangbin and Leon Bridges know the time and place for a big production, with a wealth of material that crosses genres, honors multi-cultures, generations and sees the latter tapping fellow modern-day R&B savants. Today, on the pairings’ new song “Chocolate Hills,” the artists embrace spacey sensuality, as Bridges’ honeyed tones ooze into the song’s steady bassline, swirling guitar, Hammond organ and synthesizer.
