Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania has one of the most unique backdrops in the country: Bethlehem Steel. Forming in 1904 (having roots all the way back to 1857), Bethlehem Steel or “The Steel”, as many of the city’s natives call it, was home to some of the hardest working employees for decades. On Thursday evening, a collaboration of top-notch musicians, Everyone Orchestra, came to town conducted by Matt Butler. Opening the night's festivities, Nik Greeley, along with his Philadelphia based members, “The Operators”.

It all started in the Haight Ashbury over 50 years ago: from the psychedelic ballroom bands of the late 1960's, the Grateful Dead emerged and went on to have a robust 30-year career with Jerry Garcia and another 24+ years post-Garcia. Rather than sticking with a scripted set list, the band flowed into the unfamiliar territory of improvisational concert celebrations that broke down the boundaries between musician and audience.

Marcus Rezak is a seasoned veteran at opening the gateway to galactic collaborations. He has shared the stage with the heaviest hitters on the jam scene including members of Umphrey’s McGee, moe., Lotus, STS9, and more. Couple that with the worldly talents of Frank Zappa and David Bowie band members and add the icing from the likes of Stanley Jordan and Fareed Haraquee on top of Berklee-educated cake and you have an artist with limitless possibilities. In November 2018, Rezak took his first steps as a solo artist releasing a stellar shoegaze jam-rock debut album Gateway to the Galaxy. Wanting to release a single to preface a sophomore album he called upon ‘GTTG’ collaborator Joel Cummins to do a track at Color Red Studios during this summer’s Umphrey’s McGee run at Red Rocks. From there, he filled out the session with Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits) on drums and Josh Fairman (SunSquabi, Analog Son) on bass.

I made a wish on the Zoltar fortune Telling machine. I wished I could unwind and rewind back to the glory days. I wished my youth wasn’t wasted when I was young. I wished to be me, free of worry, like the days of childhood Summer Camp, adventurous and curious, exploring the wonders of nature.

So, I’m breaking out my camping gear - cleaning out the tent, waterproofing it, freshening up the sleeping bag.  It’s the weekend before Summer Camp Music Festival! Recently, I caught Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Twiddle on the Road to Red Rocks, and they were on fire! Twiddle is new to me. I really enjoyed the vibe going on between these two east coast bands.  They both are playing Summer Camp festival on a seemingly relentless touring schedule.

Voodoo Dead continued their tradition of playing late night shows during the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, with a two-night run at Republic NOLA on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th. Special guest Brandon "Taz” Niederauer joined the all-star band on guitar Saturday as fans enjoyed a rockin’ two-set show that kept the music going well into Sunday morning.

There's something intangible about a first-time festival, and the community it brings together to celebrate the universal love language -- music. Suwannee Rising did just that last week, April 4-6, gifting roughly 3,500 visitors to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park with a brand new experience under the trees of Live Oak, FL.

The Borderland Music & Arts Festival™ unveiled the line-up for its September 21st and 22nd festival at Knox Farm State Park featuring over 20 bands on three stages with a diverse mix of national and regional Americana and roots artists.

Today, Summer Camp Music Festival unveiled a video of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong's performance of crowd-pleaser "Posideon" featuring a very special sit-in with moe.'s Al Schnier. This comes in advance of tomorrow's Red Rocks Amphitheater performance where Pigeons Playing Ping Pong makes their debut at the famed stage in direct support of moe.
