The New Deal

It is really incogitable, but a delight for me to follow the growth of these two credible musicians appropriately called Big Gigantic.  It seems like yesterday that I was eating at a restaurant in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia with Dominic Lalli, while he was in The Motet, and my good friend and their road manager at the time Ben Scrimalli.

Dan Kurtz gave us a couple of minutes of his time before launching of his final tour with The New Deal (TND). Sentimental and comical, Dan shared with us his favorite venues, music video directors, and moments with The New Deal as well as his thoughts on sexuality in music and the story of how this trio first met.

The NEW DEAL announces the end of a spectacular 12- year career with a strong run of shows that will wrap up in the fall.

On the night of October 7th, 2010, an eclectic crowd discusses festivals and shows of past in the brisk fall mountain air of Boulder Colorado. Crowds began pouring into the beautiful Fox Theatre as Brothers Past has begun to wrap up the last half of their set. Deep trance beats fueled by funky vibes, high pitched vocals, and high energy was met with a howling departing ovation from the crowd.

The New Deal made their triumphant return to the Hoosier state on the second night of a four date Midwest tour.  The Bluebird Night Club in Bloomington Indiana played host to the Canadian-based electronic trio on a cold Thursday night. They are currently touring in support of their recent release LIVE: TORONTO 7.16.2009.

Festival season started early this year.  Well, early for Colorado.  Last Saturday The Disco Biscuits and a cavalcade of friends and like-minded musicians brought the ruckus to Red Rocks Amphitheater for an all-night non-stop mini-festival of epic proportions.  If that sounds like an overstatement, perhaps it is.  Although technically not a festival – the word is honestly a little big for what went down – being outside and seeing no fe
