This past Saturday, the Williamsburg area in downtown New York City returned with one of its most anticipated musical events of the year, Brooklyn Comes Alive. Across three music venues, The Brooklyn Bowl, Rough Trade, and Music Hall of Williamsburg, over fifty musicians jammed, sang, and tributed together in fifteen sets of unique, supergroup type fashion.

New York City-based soul/rock/funk group The Nth Power - drummer Nikki Glaspie, guitar player Nick Cassarino and bassist Nate Edgar - are entering a new phase of their careers. In 2017 The Nth Power decided to transition to a guitar/bass/drums trio as the group focuses in on refining their signature sound. Since then, Glaspie, Cassarino and Edgar have infused their funk aesthetic with a little bit of disco, some deep soul, and a lot of intense political energy and tight old school rock and roll.

This funk show was one of the most powerful shows that I have ever seen. Turkuaz is the best and hottest funk band in the world at this moment. There is no doubt in my mind. The Nth Power is not very far behind them in their mastery of their cross genre collaborative. Both of these bands days of playing in small venues like the Fox Theater in Boulder, are numbered.
