Page McConnell -- Doin' His Thing

The official launch of Page's tour was here in Philadelphia at the World Café Live about a month earlier than this show, and it was broadcasted live for WXPN. I played hooky from work that day to review that show, and on this night I expected many of the same songs from the new self titled album.

10KLF Adds The String Cheese Incident, Trey Anastasio Cancels

The 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) announces the addition of The String Cheese Incident to the lineup, confirming a Minnesota performance on their summer tour. The Colorado-based group has spent more than a decade making innovative, genre-defying music and will perform two sets at the 10,000 Lakes Festival Friday, July 20 on the Main Stage.

"The String Cheese Incident is thrilled to be returning to 10KLF for the third time and are looking forward to performing in the North Woods once again," says SCI manager Mike Luba.

Page McConnell's 1st Show: Coming Full Circle

The only conversation topic welcomed by Page in this era of moving forward was the acknowledgment of being a Philly boy and his birth at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Page carefully deflected every question about Phish and his college thesis writing days at Goddard.

Trey Anastasio | Mini-Album 18 Steps | Review

After listening to the mini-album 18 Steps I begun to question Trey Anastasio's choice of track listings for the release Bar 17, his latest studio project distributed this October.  There are some real gems here that probably should have made the cut for the major release, and may have been better received choices that some of the sleepers on Bar 17.

10,000 Lakes Festival '06 | A Trip Worth the While

The fourth annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) kicked off on a mild Wednesday evening at the Soo Pass Ranch of Detroit Lakes, MN.  The four-day bonanza of music and entertainment has matured into a full-fledged mainstay on the summer tour circuit for headliners and up-and-coming regional acts alike.  While cars rolled in all day and night into Thursday morning, visitors set up their temporary homes, and neighborhoods, with extensive attention to detail evident from the picnic tables, screened porches, tiki torches, hammocks, and other simple pleasures they brought from hom

Gathering of the Vibes 2006 | Review & Photos

We need not recap the 11 year history of this wondrous event, held for five years now at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY.  We need no account of the heartfelt and soulful preparation put in by the original "Deadhead Heaven" promoters, Terrapin Tapes and Dupree's Diamond News, to commemorate the life and music of Jerry Garcia.  These details have been covered numerous times in other reports.  All we need is to be here now, or at lea

Grateful Web does the 10KLF Part III

Well, the fourth annual 10K Festival is under our belts now, with a Saturday line up that equaled Thursdays and Fridays. Keller Williams show was so packed they had to turn people away, and Trey's show was awesome with no Phish music in sight. (Phil in fact did not stay around to jam indecently.) He played some new stuff, a couple off his solo album, closed out the show with a couple of covers, Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who and Get Back from the Beatles. I queried a lot of people over the three days I was there, and everyone said the same thing - it was just a great festival.
