Pretty Lights

Pretty Lights will be previewing material from the forthcoming album on the “The Illumination Tour,” which launches with two sold-out hometown shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 17 and 18. Tickets go on sale today for the remaining shows on the first leg of the headline run (August 23 – October 6) with the exception of Mobile, AL (on sale July 2) and San Francisco, CA (on sale July 13).

Eliot Lipp’s recent album, Shark Wolf Rabbit Snake, may be a mouthful but it’s definitely tasty. A connoisseur of hip-hop, jazz fusion, folk and techno, Lipp blends genres together but still leave some chunky knock. Just listen to “On N’ On”.

I have a problem. It’s not a joke. I am addicted to music. I have been a victim to this addiction since 1987, maybe earlier.  That was my first live music experience.   My addiction to music has affected me adversely in the following ways: uncontrollable smiles, a feeling of connection to everyone around me, and a sense of synchronicity with harmony and syncopation within my everyday surroundings.

For the record, I believe that Pretty Lights Music (the label) represents the future of independent electronic music, offering digital, freely available releases to the public and paying the way with goodwill and a collective reputation for putting on tight live shows.

Thursday at Wakarusa started in the afternoon for me. After the Great Campsite Shuffle of 2012, I headed out to see one of my favorite electronic artists, Phutureprimitive. He has great technique and puts on a generally fun show! Plus, there was a sexy fire dancer lady performing on stage with him - this is always a big plus in my book.

The Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama this past weekend has officially cemented itself among the heavy-hitting top-notch summer festivals of the year, both in terms of musical content and festavarian (read: festival-goers) satisfaction.

Pretty Lights is showing no signs of slowing down as the year winds to an end- this morning, PopMatters premiered his new video for “Future Blind,” which can be found on Spilling Over Every Side, his second (of three!) EP’s

The 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) announces single day tickets will be made available for Saturday, July 25.  A limited number of single day 10KLF music-only festival tickets go on sale Friday, April 24, starting at $75 for general admission and $99 for general admission and overnight camping.

Relentlessly winding upwards along Berthoud Pass, my brain lights up like a pinball machine in action and BAM my thoughts of needing to extol some elder wisdom on my co-hort becomes apparent. The event we are quickly approaching entry into, is unlike most of the "festivals" she has attended in the past.
